I'm Jewish so this is obviously frustrating to see, but I think this has more to do with stupidity than him actually hating Jews. Let's be honest here: a majority of athletes are just stupid. Intellectually, I don't view DeSean as the sharpest tool in the shed. He runs fast and is explosive, but I'm not going to ask him for his opinion on foreign relations or the economy. I think social media does weird things to people's heads. People who want to come across like they are smart or enlightened are going to put up a story for all to see of some highlighted text from a book to show, "Hey, I'm reading about important issues" without really diving into the context of what it means and who said it.

With that said, I don't think he should be cut. I think the precedent they set with Cooper already makes this easy for them. The backlash wouldn't be good. Personally, I'd like for DeSean to take initiative and learn more about Judaism. Meet with a rabbi, a teacher, other Jewish people, etc. to help educate himself. The same way that black people want white people to educate themselves on their history.

This 100%.  It was a stupid offensive statement to share.  His apology does seem genuine though.  I don't think he really understood it.  Education would be the most appropriate response so he can fully understand why it was offensive.  I hope that is the approach but you never know how they will react.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Chomsky is viewed as one of the 21st centuries most renowned thinkers but hey im sure Hannity, glen beck, and stephen miller are right up there no?

Can't deny any of this. Well, one of the 20th century's most renowned thinkers as well,

There is much I disagree with in Chomsky's writings, but he is never stupid, as opposed to those other three.

Errr...no.  The post is an absurd conspiracy theory about how the Illuminati and the elite of the US are being blackmailed by Israel so that they won’t reveal "the secret” that African Americans are the real children of Israel.

When you say something that is not true and unsubstantiated about a race/religion , is that not prejudicial and/or racist?   And when you double down by saying "Your race is/are the true children of Israel” isn’t that the exact definition of racism?   Especially when you direct it at Jewish people or even Christians - who believe we are all God’s children?

"Children of Israel” means God’s children to billions of people around the world.

The quote from the post is the equivalent of saying , "We are God’s true children, not you’”

And in case you didn’t know, "Children of Israel”, the way it was referred to in that quote, is directly correlated to the Bible, Judaism and Christianity.   Has nothing to do (in the context it was written) with Zionism.

Im Christian i was taught my whole life that as such im a child of Israel, i was also taught that the israelites or jews were gods chosen people and christ was also a jew.

The quote in question isnt referencing all christians or children if god it specifically mentions " white jews" which isnt a reference about skin color but more region or even purpose. In this case the author is meaning American or western world jews as " white jews"

How is the thought that blacks are the true children of israel any different than white people or jews claiming to be the true children of israel?

If jews believed all children are gods why are they killing palestinians. Jf white christians believe all children are gods why are we killing muslims and blacks and compliant in the genocide of palestinians?

Is the whole comment a little off kilter?

Yup but whats not off kilter is that it speaks to current Zionism and the US current relationship with Israel in attaining a Zion state.

The opinion he shared isn't just from a misinformed source.  It's from a specific anti-semitic ideology that stems from a black nationalist movement.  My concern is whether he believes in that movement.  It's not like he was just sharing a meme he saw somewhere.

Just you.  They focused on Desean's comment, you went way beyond, and after your comment you've doubled and even tripled down on it.  Take it to CVON.

Yup, i dont agree with every thing he says though i confess i agree with a lot but i appreciate his well thought honest scholarly opinion as opposed like you said those other 3 paid propaganda spreaders.

Yeah - that's not at all the basis of that quote.  That quote was straight from an anti-semitic ideology.

If there is much you disagree with, one can infer that there is some with which you agree. Which parts of Chomsky do you agree with, and which parts do you disagree with?

Chomsky is, for want of a better word, too pure for me. Just to take his anarchism, for example. In it's pure form it leads to chaos. I don't see that as his purpose, however. I think he always aspires to meaningful dialogue. In terms of a dialectic, if one posits capitalism as the thesis, then his form of anarchism can be seen as the antithesis, and the synthesis has yet to be resolved. He works and breathes in an atmosphere too rare for me. I need some smog to go with my oxygen. He's worth reading, though.
