To me Brees’ comments were racist.  The sentiment that it’s unpatriotic to kneel during the anthem because his grandfather served in WWII?  Black people served in WWII as well

My father served in WWII — doesn’t give me the right to commentate on what others choose to do during the national anthem

I didn't see Brees' comments as racist per se, tone deaf, and basically the attitude of a privileged white man who doesn't understand what's going on - he doesn't have much to protest, money, status, cops who'll cover for him b/c he's a white celebrity. Being ignorant isn't the same as racism, which is why PC culture gets out of hand, too quick to judge, too slow to understand context.

Even wealthy black athletes have nightmares of driving their Mercedes and having a cop pull them over, full of resentment, and manhandling them - because this has happened.

So it's not surprising his teammates saw his comments very differently, as support of a status quo that forces them to live with fear. Where he saw himself as a patriot, supporting flag and country, and not understanding that for his teammates, kneeling was a way of showing solidarity with black men and women who lack their money and celebrity, and who are truly vulnerable. So when he slams kneeling, he's taking away one of the few avenues they have to get their message heard.

DeSean was stupid and ignorant, and his followup comments show he'll never get it (same with Malik), those who've been persecuted should be more sensitive, not less sensitive, to bigotry. Instead, the idea that black history gives them a "get away with hate free card" seems to be the basis of their attitude. The paragraph that he quoted was an order of magnitude past what Brees said - it can't be interpreted as anything but a vicious anti-Semitic statement.

And anyone who takes Farrakhan as anything but a vicious loon obviously hasn't done any homework - he's not a supporter of black pride and black power, he's an object of ridicule. He's the black equivalent of InfoWars or the other right wing conspiracy nuts out there.

Desean Jackson said something real dumb - get over it

Are we really just going to keep dwelling on every offensive thing athletes say?! You don’t know them, they certainly don’t know you... so who cares.

Brees said something dumb, DeSean posted actual hate speech. Brees's comments weren't racist just tone deaf, desean's post was blatantly anti-Semitic regardless of whether or not he understood it to be. They are in two completely different categories.

That's the confusing part to me. Jews have empathized with blacks because they have historically been two groups persecuted and denied basic rights. They played a significant role in the civil rights movement in the 50s and 60s. The American Jewish Committee commissioned Kenneth Clark's research that stated segregation was unconstitutional and played a role in Brown vs. Board of Education. Jewish defense organizations helped file legal briefings in civil rights cases dealing with employment, housing, and education. They made up 30% of the white volunteers who rode buses down in the south to protest in Selma and Birmingham with MLK. Few know the story of Michael Schwerner and Andrew Goodman, who were two Jewish social workers that were murdered and had their bodies dumped along with a black coworker by the KKK.

That's why it makes this even more confusing with not only the lack of support, but outright opposition to Jews from black NFL players and other black athletes. I chalk it up to ignorance and these guys just not knowing their history.

No, you shouldn't share with me if I don't invite you to - this is why I hate religious fundamentalists of all stripes - because they think they have sole possession of the TRUTH, they don't feel obligated to observe social boundaries. My "soul" is my business, not yours.

I have people proselytize me my whole life, and yes, I resent it. It's impolite. Bad manners - and manners are the key to civilization.

I married into an Evangelical Christian family (my wife had fled to the People's Republic of Austin), they made a couple attempts, after I politely rebuffed them it stopped.

I don't question their beliefs and made it clear that mine were none of their business.

I have always been impressed by how many one-true-religions there are.

From what i understand in my limited knowledge is that it has more to do with black jews claim as original people of israel, im not sure how they figure on what lineage as the claim would be that they are first descendents of judah? Again not sure how, as such they claim they should have citizenship in israel as jews but the White jews who claim to be the original people of israel say sorry israel is ours get lost at which point the black jews called the white jews evil to which the white jews call the black jews anti semitic.

Around around they go to this day. Now what this has to do with black americans??? i have no idea except that some  militant black jews have been involved in movements in america like the black panthers.

Theres a lot more to it than black dude post a quote white jews get angry narrative IMO

Scenario 1 seems impossible for logistical reasons. You would need to find housing so roughly 3,500 rooms. Then you would need to find 16 stadiums with enough locker room space, press box etc just to play games. If you stagger it over Saturday and Sunday you only need 8 each day, but even that seems a stretch. Then you would need to find enough space for practice facilities, weight rooms, team meetings, rehab facilities etc. You would have to at least do some type of hub city arrangement.

How is that impossible in Orlando? Do you know how many time share resorts are in that area alone that are probably empty right now? Tampa has a ton too. That's before we get to hotels. A Google search said they have 121k rooms in Central Florida. That cover it?

Don't need 16 stadiums. Just between Orlando and Tampa there are 3 stadiums. Throw in Jacksonville and Gainesville and you have five. Six if they charter a flight to Tallahassee. If they are doing that then Miami comes into play and they have 7.

Just sticking to the five in relatively close proximity to Orlando they can stagger the games the same as they do now on Sunday. Say 11 AM, 4 PM, 8 PM

Have 2 or 3 more going Monday night.

It's messy, but with some thought they can make it work if they want to have a season.

You’re specifically talking about the black Hebrew Israelites that believe that and that’s why they hate what they call fake Jews cause they believe since they are white and most during diasporas settles in Germany region known as azchanzai so they aren’t the real Israelites the Bible or chosen people talked about.

the ones who don’t follow that based off the communication and talking I’ve had over the last couple days is because Jews profited and ran the slave trade (Atlantic slave trade)and also owned slaves. Additionally according to the discussions a lot of blacks feel after the civil rights movement that Jews abandon them and used them for their own agenda.

Again could be a multitude of things but those were the major things routinely I’ve had said to me and written all over social media when people called out why didn’t they stand up for Jews in this situation.

There is no way they can play a full game 3 times a day in the same stadium. They would be getting like 1-2 hours max to get out the locker rooms, clear out equipment, clean the locker rooms, bring in new equipment, get ready to play and warm up. It’s too many people with too many moving parts, with a game that’s probably too long to begin with that can’t be played as frequently as any of the other major 3.

My point was to stop caring or worrying about what other people say or think. Overreacting and demanding reprimands are usually counterproductive.

Orlando can totally handle it.

I work for one of the largest hotel and resort companies in the world.   To give you an idea, just one of our resorts can sleep 7000+ people (Beds)  That’s one of the bigger ones (That particular one has 1 and 2 bedroom villas so it can accommodate personnel and their families) ...and we have at least three dozen more properties in the Central Florida/Tampa area.

As of today we are operating at around 15% capacity at the resorts that are open.  2 of the bigger resorts aren’t even open.

As far as stadiums go...there’s the Citrus Bowl and UCF Stadium.  There’s also the soccer stadium that could be used for football; at the very least, it could be used as a practice facility.  Then you have Tampa with at least 2 stadiums that could be used for football.  And yes, Jacksonville has a stadium on the other side as well.

That’s not even using any of the Disney or Universal facilities  that can house tens of thousands of more people:

The international airport is only a 15 minute drive to the major resorts.  There’s also a business airport near downtown and Sanford airport about 30 minutes away.

There’s two enormous, state of the art, convention centers where teams could easily set up their "Front Offices”, have team meetings, etc etc.

The Central Florida infrastructure hosts over 70 MILLION visitors on an annual basis.   The NFL would be a walk in the park for us.

In terms of entertainment and restaurants; there is no other city in the world that compares (other than maybe Las Vegas) but Orlando/Orange County/Tampa is probably about 100 X bigger when it comes to "area”... so following CDC guidelines and social distancing would be easy.  There's a reason Orlando is nicknamed "The Tourism Capital of the World".  ;)

Besides Geoff Schwartz, Julian Edelman, Chris Long, Zach Banner and others? The Brees story died as it should have a day later.  This story hasn’t. In part because there is an fairly long-standing  antisemitic black nationalist movement. But let’s not pretend he hasn’t been called out and criticized. That’s a false narrative.

That's not antisemitic

If you try to convert any person of a different religion on the basis that a failure to convert damns that person, it is anti their religion.  I know you believe you are trying to help the person and you know the way to salvation.  Please understand that folks like Afan and me and possibly e-a-g-l-e-s and D7 don’t see it that way and youR position seems a hateful to us.  (My way or eternal damnation.)  I tolerate it a bit because I don’t want to offend because I don’t take my agnosticism as seriously as a devout Christian, such as yourself, takes your religion.  As I think you have gathered, Afan and I have scholastically reviewed many religions.  I would bet, having read the Bible cover to cover that I have read more of it than a lot of Christians and also have read quite a few scholars on that religion and others. (Fascinating book, The Bible as History). But, and this is key, such a statement as referenced does not respect my beliefs and thus is offensive to me. So yes, I believe, it does not respect a person that follows Judaism and as such might well be interpreted as anti-Semitic if said in the example posited.

Courts operating down there?  I know you do some comp work. I did liability work,on the other side.  My colleagues tell me new are down and they can devote time to resolve older claims but that getting records to evaluate is extremely difficult due to the pandemic.

I’m staying busy. Lay-offs tend to drive certain types of claims. Court is now done via WebEx hearings. It’s different but not bad.

Sure they can. It is just a matter of making it work. It is a multi billion dollar industry and there are enough stadiums to make it work and they can stagger the games enough to get around what you said. Especially if they go to Gainesville and Jacksonville.

If college isn't playing then Saturday is in the mix or Friday night football instead of Thursday. Whatever. Bottom line is they only have to cancel if they want to.

I guess I meant by getting called out was more aggressive responses by active players
