I like Kempski but he is barely a step above his BGN roots.   Lately he has been reporting a lot of what other reporters report.  I take some of this with a grain of salt.  The one thing that gives me pause on Dillard is Stout was quoted last year that he didn’t spend time scouting Dillard because he didn’t think the Eagles had a chance at him.  He hadn’t met with him or attended his pro day.

It sounds like they didn't like how he reacted to being switched to RT.  It may be that they didn't like how he reacted to the criticism and have long-term concerns.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Maybe, but that would be incredible to believe so much in him a year ago that he was worth trading up for and then give up on all of that so quickly

How much did they really give up to get him. A 4th And a 6th? It isn’t like they moved up And gave up what they did for Jerome McDougle

I just read that Jerry Jones told his scouts to take the night off because he's going to run the draft alone.  This is going to be a fantastic draft night.

His son seems to be helping them do a much better job. I wouldn't laugh just yet.

I think that would be fitting given how the rest of 2020 has gone.

I'm hearing reports of Kinlaw...If he drops apparently we are really interested. Now that makes no sense.

The point with stoutland you made is the reason i said i can’t rule out if the eagles soured on him. If stoutland got to work hands on with him for a year and didn’t see it and went to brass i totally could see them doing this.

now i don’t Think they deal him ultimately. But i think a lot is on if stoutland still feels the same about him as he did last year after acquiring him.

DT would be as bad as TE or QB.

I disagree. Malik is gone next year. Cox is going into his 30s. Hargreaves is here for 3 years. And kinlaw imo is the best DT in the draft and he’s just starting to scratch the surface of his pass rush abilities. Imo i think he’s a top 15 pick. And might ultimately be your heir to cox’s throne.

What does Kempski figure on doing at LT?

He isn't thinking that far ahead. This is Jimmy with an axe to grind. He gets like this sometimes, and now, with nothing to do and nowhere to be he's fixating. Jimmy certainly knows the team better than I do but this notion that the Eagles will just dump Dillard with only Mailata to play the position and nobody else on the roster who plays tackle is just nuts. I could see it if they can get their hands on Andrew Thomas and get a good package for Dillard but that ain't happening. He was decent at LT last year and hopeless at RT. Lots of guys can't switch sides; more can't than can. He has to get stronger and the only way he doesn't is if he's lazy. I haven't heard that said about him. Suggestions that he's immature or gets frustrated, maybe. But he's got the feet and the technique. He Beat reporters work on a 24-hour news cycle so the one thing they don't have is time and Jimmy, who has nothing new to say, is churning his bile here.

I just can't see it, but then, I thought Tommy Hearns would knock out Marvin  Hagler, so what do I know?

it makes perfect sense. You cant pass on the opportunity for to take a player like that.

I agree with everything here jr

Id be f'ing stoked if we got kinlaw. I love that kid. He might be my favorite defensive player in this draft outside of young and okudah

Diontae Johnson was really good as a rookie, Emmanuel Sanders, Martavis Bryant for a bit.

Diontae Johnson was very good for them last year. And James Washington wasn’t bad either. Also got the most out of Martavis Bryant before his off the field. And Emmanuel Sanders.

Hines Ward, Mike Wallace, Emmanuel Sanders too

Plaxico Burress, Santonio Holmes, Emanuel Sanders. I’d say yes

Eh I was talking recent history.  Diontae Johnson and Smith-Schuster have looked pretty good (not studs but good NFL receivers) but outside of that it's been 10 years of meh-to-bad picks.

2010: Sanders, Brown

2011: No one

2012: Clemons

2013: Justin Brown, Wheaton

2014: Archer, Bryant

2015: Coates

2016: Ayers

2017: Smith-Schuster

2018: Washington

2019: Johnson

Like they're much better than us but that's not saying much. They're hardly the gold standard there anymore like they still are at LB.

Reports?  From locals or national guys?

This defense does not need an impact linebacker with this system.  Would it be nice, sure.  If all other needs are satisfied, then go for it.  We need receiverzzzzzz!

You don't take a player at that position though when you have other immediate and long term needs...

Yup.  Apparently just some garbage Twitter joke that popped up on my BR notifications

I don't think he's that good. I mean like he's not a complete game changer. He's very good for sure.

I agree. But if the board falls a certain way and Murray (or Queen) is clearly the best player on the board and a good trade down option isn't available, I'm okay with LB. Murray over Queen.

Disagree. So you rather pass on a potential fletcher cox because you have a need at wr and the player isn’t worthy? That’s how you get jarrett the safety who was a complete bust. If kinlaw is the best available player and he would be by a large margin you take him

draft isn’t just about 2020. It’s about the next 5 years. Kinlaw has the potential to be a really good to elite DT when cox declines and malik is gone.

Remember, too, that in the age of social media mocks are not all designed for accuracy.  Each time a Birds fan goes nuts over DJ's LB mock to us, there's another retweet or mention of his name.  Former scout or not-- building brand through buzz.
