It’s the same money. If I give somebody $10 and I decide to prorate it, it’s the same $10 that’s going to affect my cap the same way, but if I’m doing it where the value of the cap is not $100 but now it’s $150, why wouldn’t I want to take it in those times?”

This the flawed logic. If you are a contending team to keep your window open…great. Do it then. The theory is: the caps rising todays ten pushed back is less. Sure. Makes since. Problem is everybody costs more in that future with larger caps. So your limiting what you can do then…..so you can be just competitive…not contending.

You think Detroit GM doesn’t realize that? Think that’s just a dream on your part.

Correct,  that's why I am not seeing the trade for next year's 1st unless it's a better team.  Miami anticipated they wouldn't pick high.   I doubt Detroit gives up next year's #1..  nor would any team, unless it's for a QB that drops.   Those teams could just pick the QB earlier instead of risking it.

2 questions...

1.  Kelce got $14 million...what's the best way to pay him?

2.  Malik and DeSean Jackson... what was a better way to pay them?

My answers...  doesn't matter in either case..  # 1 is a player you will get use from... however you pay it, it comes out to $14 mil.     The other 2 were the wrong players , there is no correct way to pay those deals.  They both hit the cap as a waste.  Same waste in the end because it's a rolling cap.

It would have mattered more prior to the rolling cap.

Yep you think for a bad team we should make room by pushing money back so we can spend more to be not so bad. I don’t agree.

For me the issue is how much is guaranteed???? Pushing money back is possibly a good move in the event that player gets injured. I'm not a contract guy,but seems logical to me

I think Mac Jones will enjoy his new toy in Parker. Pity we missed again, would have been a decent addition. So now,in my view we need 2 WR's in this draft(maybe 3-2 late)

Never heard so much about arm length with DBs. This class has very talented guys that evidently have TRex syndrome. Not sure how much I put into DB arm length. Obviously having longer arms is an advantage. How far does it knock your ranking being short armed? I just don’t know.

It’s guaranteed money being pushed back. He’s loving signing guys to short term deals and putting it in signing bonus. Players get their money right away…which they love. But it allows him to stretch the one year deal into five years.

Thought he’s on the decline. Getting older and was injured. Wanted a vet….but he doesn’t move the needle much for me. Rather get Landry. What’s up with him? He just holding out too much money or what? He would be a great addition. Over thirty but still a very good player with plenty of crafty moves to teach.

Landry was the best offensive weapon for the Browns. Not sure how everybody here isn’t clamoring for him. He’s a stud.

Was reading up about the "unknown WR we have in Cain" He was projected to go in round 2 and from what I have read, tremendous upside. But he hasn't really produced here,so perhaps he is a slow learner like Reagor

IDK why we re-signed Cox. He's clearly on the downside,so we need to draft someone. Still think DT and edge are the first 2 selections not matter if we trade up or back. Seems Howie is intent on shoring up the line(foundation),so some of these re-signs make me SMH.

Makes sense, small arms make it harder to bat balls down. I can understand wanting someone with a bigger deflection radius. need to match those WR with huge catch radius'

Ham... it comes down to if it's the right player or not.    You just do not get the concept of the rolling cap at all, nor how players want to get paid.

$14 mil to Kelce.   Give it to him all this year... it all counts toward the cap..  takes away any carryover to the future cap.   If $4 mil counts toward this year... $10 mil of cap space gets carried forward...which offsets the $10 mil of cap hit... it's a wash.  Exactly like Howie says.

It simply comes down to if the player was worth the money.  The mistake Howie made by having all that dead money was that the players were not worth it.

Too bad about Villanova

They had a good run

That's why you pay him less $$.

NC plays tomorrow. Kansas is TOUGH,I don't see us winning this, but they surprised me VS Duke

We paid him because we don't have his replacement in here yet. I am expecting we get that in the draft. Just wanting to avoid another JP fiasco

Still playing as always-assuming a trade back with Detroit(19 for 32 and 34 and a minor pick maybe next year)  1-15-Davis/Wyatt-DT  1-16-Olave WR  1-32-Mafe/Ojabo-edge  1-34-Mc Creary-CB   2-51-  Nik Bonitto-DL/edge- OK 3-83 Channing Tindall-LB(he is underrated due to the other 2)  4-124-Bailey Zappe-QB(he's better than the 3rd we have now and could be a nice #2 in time)   5-154-Pierre Strong-RB  5-162-Alec Lindstrom-C 5-166 Tyquan Thornton-WR(my boy moved up a round lol) 6-194-Danny Gray-WR

Seems like a deep WR draft

Cox is not JP...not close.  Cox logged a lot of snaps.  People worry about his stats... focus on the success or lack there of when he was on the bench.   JP on the other hand didn't make any difference the last couple of years.
