But yeah, article was his nice coach speak. Only specific thing he said was he liked adding the three FA that ended up stinking.

Dallas has a pretty significant advantage in extra days to prepare over their opponents. Like fourth most extra days advantage. They got a  plus 8. We slightly at a disadvantage. We are minus two.

He was all about Kerrigan, Harris and Wilson. Think he pretty well struck out on all three honestly. Like I said with Harris….he’s very familiar with the scheme and language. So he can probably play several roles and knows all the plays. On the downside and not a great player but gives Gannon more flexibility to be able to call more plays and not be as limited. HITS sounds nice. Good fundamental slogan. Be good for high school kids even. Doesn’t really mean crap. Generic coach speak. I do think Gannon is a big time student of the game. So I’m sure he studied every D ever imagined. What I take out of it is he is knowledgeable. Wants to try and confuse the OC. Kind of just feel he’s open to putting in any package to add in that week for an opponent. He probably has a good idea of how each O playcall can be stopped with a specific D playcall. So you study the opponent. Probably figure out a couple plays they favor that maybe your most basic D calls isn’t ideal. So practice that week adding a 4-3 Under playcall to shut it down(as an example). OC hasn’t studied it and expecting it from you also as a benefit.

So you are skeptical about defense "generic coach speak crap" but not Hurts generic coach speak crap, even though last year we played those HS kids even(everyone was badly less than 100%) and racked up ridiculous garbage time stats you rave on and on about. Got it!!!. if Gannon is knowledgeable, then why are you worried about a changeover of defensive schemes? Wouldn't you want someone knowledgeable? We can run 34,43,52 or whatever is needed as a hybrid D. I see nothing wrong with altering your defense to suit your opponent(more experience coming through) If you invested in players to do this, why not do it? As far as HITS, I didn't write the article, nor make that statement. You must really hate the coaching staff for coming up with a moniker that is easy to remember as to what your goals are.Pretty much the goals every team has(your generic coach speak which is the same as every press conference, the "we need to do better" BS), except the other teams weren't inventive enough to come up with the HITS name. I personally am excited to see what Gannon puts on the field and how the defensive alignments throw offenses off.

That article was LAST year, the NEW pieces are coning to town to listen and learn coach speak. Why watch weekly pressers when all it is is coach speak???

https://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/news/eagles-jonathan-gannon-haason-reddick-mystery-defense   So,let the guy work his defense they way he wants it. The influx of young guys will grow into whatever he has in mind. Solidify things this year, and make your QB decision(whatever that is),in the meantime the defense will get better as they play together, offense too. So you have to believe in the system and let these coaches build their team(our team).

For one season then most think it’s highly likely Gannon gets a HC job. Tough because it feels the only way he doesn’t is if the D does terrible

Not playing a year when you’ve been arguably the best in the league all before that

You mean in 2020 when he had 400 yards???? No Tds… you got way more faith in the Saints then me.

Thomas hasn’t been a top WR since 2019 with a healthy Brees who could still sling it and Sean Payton as the HC.

Not expecting much from Thomas or the Saints with no Sean and no Brees

But if I had to choose for just this season…I favor their WR room.

Your crazy. I’ll take Smith over Olave any day. Quez gives you more then Landry at this point and I’ll take AJ Brown right now over Thomas who hasn’t performed since 2019.

This doesn’t even add Geodart in the mix who is easily take over whoever the Saints TE is.

But again I’m looking at the total package of weapons the only edge I’d give the Saints is Kamara over Sanders and it isn’t that big a gap

I thought he didn't have the experience you wanted? So you continually confuse me with opposing statements. First,he doesn't have the experience to change the D over from 43 to 34, but now next year he is up for a HC job LOL. Why would anyone hire a HC with no experience?(You know like we did)

Like Schwartz was supposed to leave for a head coaching job every year?

You seem afraid of success? Afraid of any expectations.    Just seem to want the team not to be bad and so you keep the expectations low for the QB and he doesn't fail.

It's odd really.

Dallas Goedert.   Low TD #S.    But he didn't start until last year ...as the team found its identity as a running team.

So which is it?

Considering he split reps to start the year and we were a run heavy team 4 tds isn’t that terrible.

Also Geodart has 16 tds in 4 years in comparison Ertz only had 13 in his first 4 years. And Ertz even backing up Celek was still primarily used as a receiver whereas Geodart was the blocking TE when he backed up Erfz first 3 years

Zach Ertz... 13 TDs in his first 4 seasons.   Dallas Goedert 16 TD in his first 4 seasons.

Excuse me if I'm not concerned...lol.

The concern for me is the guy passing him the ball.

Think it’s different Schwartz was already a known guy and older guy. Gannon is supposedly the young upcoming coach.

At the end of the day I do hope Gannon becomes HC worthy if that happens means he built a strong D unit for us.

The spin for everything is hilarious.   Same idea... keep expectations low for the QB... he won't get stats,  the offense around him is ok now, but not good, he won't be in a contract year for another 2 years..etc.

Everything to lower expectations.

Watching basketball I’m pissed we gave up Jimmy Buckets lol. Wasn’t happy when it first happened now in hindsight it looks even worse.

Jimmy Buckets and Embidd I 100% believe could have gotten a chip together.

Gannon has one year as a DC.   That's great he got interviewed.  Didn't get any offers.   Schwartz was established and won a SB here after 2nd year.

These young guys... the offense is usually what is in demand... the defense usually has to produce a successful standout unit.  I don't see this year’s defense being that good.  And I don't think just a typical solid defense is going to put him in demand.  He may interview again though.

The only expectation should be is he worth the 35m+ a year that going to be the going rate.

The rate is already higher, and will climb each year.   The tag # isn't high enough to look at compared to when these next guys will get their $$.

But as I've told Ham...  30 or 50 mil....either way it comes with expectations.   And most of us see that significant improvement is needed.   You can bet they didn't spend the money and the picks for Brown just to have below average or even average passing.

It's interesting.  Looking ahead to next year...I think the narrative might be where we have one of the toughest schedules in the league.

NFC West,  AFC East,  the extra AFC game will be at the matching AFC West opponent.  Could be much different narrative than this year.

I think we know who feels we were a legit 9 win team... came together like a band of brothers from WW2, explosive plays, 3rd down conversions, 8th most accurate passing...etc.

I read an Eagles writer who broke down the games and came out 12-5.    Obviously that guy must feel like last year was absolutely legit.    Those people are out there for sure.

I mean we filled in a lot of holes and improved.... was losing Nelson and McCloud that bad over their replacements compared to those gains?

sure that an Eagles writer would put down a positive total. I went thru 7 sites and the NFL Network has the highest total for the Eagles at 9.6 wins. Every other site has them at 8.5. So how does anyone in their right mind think 14 is right?

I'm seeing 11 wins as the most popular, 10 as the second most, 12 as the 3rd most.

This is after the schedule came out. Writers doing game by game predictions.  Not any Vegas odds where the decimal point comes in.

So there are people out there with very high expectations for this team.

Just a quick glance at our schedule I’ll say.

Split the East 3-3

Wins vs Lions/Texans/Jags/Bears/Saints

that puts us at 8 wins Vikings game I could go either way so that might be 9.

So yea that 8.5 sounds about right.

Not sure we beat any winning teams Vikings and Saints are a far cry from the teams they were 3-4 years ago probably be the best teams we beat.

Maybe we can sneak a game vs Dallas

So you would have us losing to Arizona without Hopkins and to Pittsburgh with a rookie QB where they never beat us in Philly.... plus all loses to Tennessee,  Indy and Green Bay.

Would you feel differently if in your mind we had a legit top 12-15 QB?
