1 read and run is easy to cover for most defenses. I need to see Hurts has grown from that. WR's now should pull defenses helping the running game,so for me it was alot of what Hurts didn't do. 900+ yards as the only decent WR wasn't terrible for a rook. We have a very nice WR corps now,so I EXPECT over 1,000 from BOTH brown and Smith with a splash of Quez and Pascal tossed in there

Not a knock on Smith.  Just a reality that DC's had no fear of eagles WR last year.

Seems like you answer yourself here….even though trying to blame Hurts. One decent rookie WR. 900 yards. Good job by both. One read and run isn’t even accurate….so I’m not even dignifying that.

You need to see that now he has a real WR he needs to show he can pass more. That’s what I’m taking out of these statements.

I thought we brought in a rookie that is a bigger RB?  Does it not count for us fans because it isn't a guy we recognize...like the stud Penny?

According to the roster list Sanders is the biggest back we have

Agreed, this year should be alot different. I wantto see a larger play call list. It's doable now and I want to see Hurts utilize all these guys we invested in and not ball hog

Oh it was quite accurate and we need to see him grow away from it

Yep,we need to see that growth into a starting caliber NFL QB. He needs to make the reads, accurately deliver the ball to all the guys we invested in. Like to see Goedert used just a tad more. With all the weapons Hurts now has, there is no reason not to score the one more TD per game I was bashed for. Sanders did not score ONE last year, that needs to change too

Kennedy Brooks is the young RB

BTW last year was a cake walk for Hurts and he failed to deliver. So, 1 read and run is why he led the team on the ground? Now he has weapons, running SHOULD be the LAST thing on his mind

You jumped from understanding what was the most limiting for Hurts….his weak WR room. Then want him to be the ultimate MVP leading the top offense in the league.  All this because we added AJ? Smitty and Quez getting an extra year of experience will clearly be helpful as well.

You even admit…last year he really didn’t have the weapons….yet bash him for it. All right in the same answer.

https://www.si.com/nfl/draft/scouting-reports/kennedybrooks  Hard to know if he will even see playing time. he is 2 pounds heavier than Sanders but will be riding pine,so I can't count him

We played trash teams last year, please wake up to this fact. Hurts chose to run the ball after 1 read. if he does that this year he will NOT be signed to a big deal. Another EASY schedule, with better weapons, there is no excuse for him to run the ball. I never said MVP(you did) I Do expect him to use the weapons we invested in for him.Ball hogging(like last year) would be a FAIL

You said everything but….MVP. The twelfth ranked offense stepping up another TD a game….would make us the top O. Distribute and carry the offense to be the best….hard to imagine him not be considered for MVP.

It was weak, but we played trash defenses mostly. Reagor was a huge bust. I won't blame Hurts for that disaster. Now we have reliable WR's. Even Pascal is more reliable than Reagor. Quez should get open more also due to the fact we have a dual outside threat now. Nobody was scared of Reagor. So gloves off for Hurts,he has to get these guys the stats, that means he needs to make the multiple reads required from and NFL caliber QB.Despite his physical limits, such as arm strength, he needs to show he has progressed into a QB who can trust his WR's and make the throws

IDK, I suppose it's a possibility if he delivers the goods. You don't fathom this offense is 1 TD per game better than last year? Ranked 12th because we didn't play anyone of consequence, not real impressive to me. Not only the EASIEST schedule in the league, but we played teams that were hurt on defense or had no offense.

If we had played the top teams on our schedule, instead of the cake walk we had do you think we would rank 12th last year?

Bruising running style. North South runner in style of Henry. Very solid blocking in the run game but mostly looking at in the pass game.

Nice upper body, weak lower body, not exactly a round 1-5 pick. he is a BU at this point so once again I doubt he plays at all. His blocking was a HUGE bash on him,so re-read the scouting report

I realize we started the season with all around bad coaching. Offensive playcalling was changed and things improved. You say it’s just all from opponent…I guess.

True, the first 5 weeks were bad in that dept, but we played 12 more games. Besides Hurts,I need to see growth from Siri,so your point is taken

"I’ve talked to JG over the summer,” said DT Fletcher Cox. "We’ve had a lot of conversations about a lot of different things. I think the biggest thing is, is to just go out and put us in the best situations as a D-line to get us to play on the opponent’s other side of line scrimmage.

  • Author

Is that really what JG is looking for from the Dline? From Fletch? I could really see Fletch being valuable in this D going forward more as a run stopper that can take on double teams. Don’t think they can sell Fletch on playing this way here in his contract season. Just don’t know about the dynamics of this relationship and situation.

Which years have DCs had fear of our WRs?   Pretty pathetic history for the Eagles.

#s wise... but I thought the rookie is a tough runner up the middle?   Style to me is more important than measurables.. Bigger RB doesn't necessarily mean more powerful.

Similar to McNabb making a huge jump with TO...or more recently Josh Allen once he got Diggs.  The impact one WR can make on an offense is huge...taking the attention away from everyone else and creating that one mismatch that wasn't there prior.   " Smitty "  as a supporting actor vs being the main guy is a huge difference.    The rest get moved down a spot and have easier jobs as well.   Which makes the huge difference for the QB
