So round 1 for me- Murphy/Bresee and Antonio Johnson-S

I never I liked or disliked that option(taking a QB). I merely stated it was an option. 93 was also looking at a QB that year. But pick me out of the crowd if you want. It was fairly obvious by the trade deal that Hurts wasn't going anywhere and BTW I never had a QB in any mocks I did. If Hurts had failed this year then that could be a possibility. I even stated last year that this coming draft would be a better one if you WANTED a QB(and it IS a better draft for those)

Why did you like the Saints trade.. what aspect got you excited?  Because what you talked about was now there was no option at QB.  That was media hype along with not paying 3 rookies their 2nd contracts in the same year.

It's a 3 for 1 deal that doesn't need a soap opera reason...regardless of the  possibility of getting another QB.

Getting a top WR to pair with Smith and giving Hurts every option to succeed. I always wanted Reagor OUT. I didn't want him in the first place(jj was my pick that draft). So I saw this as Howie righting that ship and freeing up the draft to get other positions of need. I believe the Saints thought we would take Olave and why they made that deal(because the AJ trade wasn't announced yet)

I'd be shocked if they take a S round 1 for the first time in the 90 year history. At a point where they need to transition BOTH lines into a younger group.  I wouldn't be surprised to see the top 3 safeties back next year.

What did making the Saints trade weeks before the draft do to make you feel better about WR?

Well it will be pick 30-32 so basically you are in round 2 territory. So maybe Howie would be ok at the tail end of round 1. I suppose it would depend on if we re-sign CJG. He is on a year deal

Didn't you just say the Saints trade took WR Olave off the table ???

That Howie had something already done(or was close enough)

We could have probably taken a WR in 2 regardless of the AJ trade. We could have by passed Jurgens for a WR

So by going from pick 15, 16, and 19... to picks 15 and 18... you felt better about the WR position 3 weeks before the draft?  With less picks?

We postponed 1 round 1 pick and got additional picks,so that means more players and a round 2 WR would still work.I just wanted Reagor gone

We didn't have less picks we had more picks just one less round 1

Right... so the Saints trade shouldn't have had any effect on you as far as a better feeling about WR THIS YEAR.    🤔   I can't follow how moving an asset back a year makes you feel that they had a better chance to address WR...this year?

I mean, one less pick means one less chance to take WR...also means one less asset to trade for a WR.

It means less players to fix WR ... THIS YEAR

How did we get more 2022 picks that would give us more options to take a WR?

I wanted a WR in 1 or 2. The Saints suspected we would take Olave with one of the 3 and they were desperate for some new blood.

So if we trade pick from the Saints down to say pick 18... does that mean you think we have more of a chance to address the DL?

Didn't we get some saints picks that draft?

Right...so the trade should have made you think we had less chance to take a WR...being Olave now had better chance to go to the Saints.

IDK what you are asking me. We could have taken any number of players with the picks we had. Even some round 3 WR's were better than Reagor

We traded 16, 19 and a 6th...  for 18, 3rd and 7th.    Where does that translate into thinking that helps us get a top WR?

Yeah, but that also gave me a hint Howie was working something

We still had our own 2???? We could have taken a WR there?

I'm asking you... what got you most excited about that Saints trade 3 weeks before the draft?

You are saying by giving up 2022 assets you felt actually stronger in our position to get a top WR?   Just doesn't make sense.  Especially when you say that trade made Olave less of a probability????

Yeah....Howie worked the Saints over pretty well.

Yeah..we had 2 picks...before we had 3.  I can't see how 2 gives you a better chance than 3?

We got extra picks. Olave was not the only WR,he was just one of the top ones. We could have even skated with Reagor again this year or taken a WR in 2 instead of Jurgens

I believe also we all knew Howie was shopping the market for one. AJ was actually the 3rd try.So it's no shock to me we made the trade because Howie was going to fix his Reagor mistake one way or another
