I always point to his leadership skills. His work ethic. His relationship with teammates…and really it seems throughout the league. I just really like the way he goes about his business. Creates a real productive work environment.

I doubt he’ll ever be the brain like The Sherriff. Can’t compare anybody to Brady or Brees. Doesn’t have the height or cannon arm. But I think he has enough tools to do most everything he needs.

You guys ever here of Dime? Or noticed our Slot DB is out? We had one decent S. Everybody talks about backup depth at every other position. The starting Dime would backup three different DB players also. Not sure why this doesn’t seem important? In a league favoring coverage LBing….you guys can’t see how valuable  and versatile S can be?

If we had a 27th pick S….do you think we’d see more Dime? I mean Gannon has used Dime every game with crap Wallace and Scott. It’s very needed. Almost feels like you guys stuck back in the FB offense days. 

Is anybody here not on the understanding that Nickel is everybodies Base D now?

Two years ago league played Dime at 20.9 percent of snaps. Yeah…that much! Base D at 18 percent. Are you seeing the evolution? Dime is utilized more than the old base. I’m the only one feeling that a fifth of D snaps is a significant part of defense?

But we can’t hardly do Nickel or Dime frankly. That’s our hole in the D. 

Then consider he uses five man fronts also.

I personally just feel Rosie, along with you guys, are really neglecting a huge part of D.

Wallace stunk. So Blankenship took over. Undrafted….saving our butt. As the starting S. The Two. Dime/Nickel? Garbage! It’s only a problem if we don’t get pressure quickly when teams try and throw the ball. Which they do like to throw.

Kick arse pass rush and you barely need a secondary. Can't throw if we are in their face every play

Watch the tape. Score 32 PPG or more and it's even less important

A fifth of the snaps league wide are Dime. You know it’s not on first downs so much. It’s just those meaningless third down plays. But I’m the only one that considers that a key part of D. If we had a great Dime we would use it at an even higher rate I’d predict. Because we’d cover our crappy Nickel when Maddox is out injured four times this year.

Except QBs have confidence throwing it up against crappy coverage guys. Scott and Wallace aren’t intercepting anything. What’s to be scared of? Plus I see even backup QBs are confident throwing on guys that give up such a high percentage of passes. Give any QB confidence with practically no risk…good luck with the pass rush getting there. Never seen a game where the QB us sacked every pass.

We gave up 40 the way they targeted Scott

We gotta move Slay around on Lamb is the obvious answer.

But then you get Scott outside.

Scott is small and can’t keep up. That’s just a bad combo.

I’d consider going Base with Dean instead. Yeah….it’s that bad. 

Tiny guy isn’t keeping up…why not just go with a LB? At least he can attack the backfield…better in run support. Oh…and do that thing good defenders must do…tackle.

Anyway that’s my lesson on DBs and especially the value of S. I’ve been preaching this since AR was here.
