I was proposing they have 8 teams in each conference make the playoffs.....no byes.

Then you need to dump wild card weekend. How else do you decide 2 teams with identical records who have the same W/L vs common opponents?

I know that I come across hard sometimes but if these young guys that were drafted last year don't come through in their second year then who is to blame? And who is to blame if valuable players have to be jettisoned next year because those young players that were drafted didn't come through? I said it before and I will say it again, It's hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong. Lurie and Roseman are joined at the hip. Roseman has a job for life with the Eagles but he shouldn't have the final say on talent.

IDK we draft really LATE players, but some of our early picks are,to say it nicely, less than stellar

Cracraft was my first guess. Michel I really though could be utilized. Thought he would have helped last year. But it seems clear it isn’t getting the chance so moving on does seem obvious.

If these guys can't beat out Ward-BYE!!!!

People wanted to keep joe Douglas... Sidney Jones, Rasul Douglas, pumphrey, Mack Hollins, Shelton Gibson, Dillard, Jjaw, Thornton....

You can’t praise the man for the good picks and blame the bad ones solely on Rosie...Douglas was brought in to play a massive role in the draft which he did.

But Douglas didn't have the final say. I will give you an example. In last years draft the only player they took that everyone in the draft room agreed on was RB Sanders. That means that Howie had final say on the rest because there was no consensus. Look at it this way 93, Any successful fortune 500 company changes their higher management structure with people from the outside of the company  for fresh ideas. The Eagles are worth 3 billion dollars but I sure wouldn't call them a success at winning Championships if that was their goal. Lurie has owned the Eagles since 1994. That is 26 years with two different GM's (Joe Banner & Howie Roseman). Plus Joe Banner trained Howie Roseman. Okay we won 1 Super bowl in 26 years with these two guys at the helm and what has Joe Banner won with the Browns or Falcons since he left? If these two guys would have won 3 or 4 Super Bowls in 26 years I have no problem with them being permanent fixtures but my definition of success is not 1 Super Bowl in 26 years. By the way, I don't hate anyone! Just sayin!

Hey thanks wrangler, but I was on the old board for.....ever.   We just moved to Vermont last summer, and yes, it's is truly a beautiful place.  We actually live on Grand Isle on the lake....

Yes I was on the old board since 2012 but I wanted to be a Newbie again because I am an Oldbie for everything else in life. LOL Hey the Lipizzan Stallions are kept on a 200 acre farm within 30 miles from my house in Florida over the winter months. From December thru April. They ought to be moving them back up to you shortly.

We seem good at being a .500 club. No real loser seasons, but 1 SB as you said.We DO pick up some amazing FA's,have always said that, but the top early picks-IDK,seems our scouting dept needs worked on too.Add to that the suck med teams we have had, who can't keep guys we DO have on the field

I have always believed that the talent judging skill is much more valuable to a ball club than the Cap expertise skill. People laugh when I say a great talent evaluator is worth as much as a franchise QB but I truly believe that. Not saying capology is irrelevant but I can hire an expert in that category for less than Howie makes and free up my GM to judge talent only.

If our first round picks stuck,we would NOT need to spend money every year plugging the holes they were drafted to fill. MS2-bust,Nelly-1 "round 1" season out of 5,Dillard-now we aren't sure about him either.Your round 1 picks should stick for 5 years each or at least 4

Your round one picks should stick for 5 years each and 40 percent of them should be Pro Bowl players.

I said 4 because sometimes you draft a year before you need them depending on the position(aka Peters et al)

I agree with both sides of this. If you were referring to me as hating him...I don’t. I think he’s very talented. Very smart guy.  He has his strengths and weaknesses. He’s been pretty good in the wheeling and dealing area. Holding out and getting Goodwin for practically nothing. Getting Ajayi for cheap. Howard got cheap. But then his main plan at the position was keeping Ajayi after that. I can keep going through every move but you get the point. I think it’s pretty well understood at this point he’s just not a football guy. Negotiating and accounting is his area. But he’s making some big mistakes in this area now also. The Alshon situation is a major mistake on his part. But my main point I’ve been trying to get across to No Mas, because he just lemmings along(like he did with Chipper), is look at how things have transpired. He got dismissed to the back of the building on quarantine under Chip. So he wrote contracts he could get out of. Got clear of his standard operating procedure. Then when he got back in charge ....BOOM! He wasn’t stuck in his own quagmire anymore. Fresh start. And we win the SB. But to do so he ate Dead Money and started backloading contracts again. This started snowballing on him. So much so we are 40 mil over the cap next year. And we aren’t even favored to win our own division...much less being favorites to win the SB. Seems obvious to me when you operate like this you got to pay the piper at some point. Last year was the perfect time to step back. Clear the cap and collect comp picks. Instead he forced getting any old guy he could that wouldn’t count against the comp formula. Restructured old players. Pushed everything into the future. Now at the end of Wentz rookie contract. Can’t beat that window to win a Championship. Everything is riding on his draft classes now. Last year, this year and next year’s draft class has to deliver big. Overspent otherwise so turning to rookies and the youth is all that’s left.

I’d say if Jones, Miller, Dillard, JJaw and Hurts pay off he’s saved. Those are the guys that can get us over the top to a Championship. Them failing will hold us down. That and the trade to Dallas in this draft better not produce their starting C. If Biadasz grades out as average or better at C the next two seasons....I’m going to be very pissed.

Cap space contracts only person I’ve ever seen that has question that is Cham everyone else in the nfl easily praises Howie for how he works the cap.... So yea think I’d take the word of people with that first hand knowledge

Results are all that matter. That’s the grade of his job. He’s in charge. But what’s the goal: sell tickets? Be a competitive team? Or for me it’s win it all. I don’t go along with the herd. Have my own thoughts and opinions. I’ll stick with them. I listen to others opinions and ideas. Nothing wrong with always learning and educating yourself. But the truth is Leading up to the SB was the one time I was on the same page with the moves. This isn’t hindsight speaking...you were there. I speak up about my thoughts ahead...not just in hindsight. I thought Chip always not the answer. Most were in love and enamored with everything he did and said. I was the minority. Then we booted him and his moves...and I agreed with everything but the size of Jernigan’s contract after that. And it happened...with our backup QB. So I think track record is important. I feel very confident in mine. You guys know my record and opinions...as much as I might have beat you down with it.

IDK IMO this is backwards. Howie is exceptional at working contract magic,no need to hire one,my issue is some of the picks he makes.Maybe he is 'advised" but if he is overriding a consensus opinion, then we need someone else to make those picks(said this long ago too)

Ward was here three years. Hard to compare guys that are young and had their first season here. Did they get a chance? I’d say Michel really didn’t. Our coaches get a little stuck on players. And that’s the reality with Michel he wasn’t ever getting a real chance here. Heck Ward they didn’t even want to give a chance either until they were forced. Like I said it took three seasons. I don’t see Michel as anything blockbuster. Thought he could have provided some specialty services at WR to make some plays. Probably should have tried it last year. We are invested in others more now...so moving on.

Sanders was my guy also(you know) do count me as part of that unanimous decision. And you look and see that the one SB came after we got out of the Banner/ Rosie way. I give full credit to Rosie for hiring Pedey and getting that SB.

I had Biadasz graded out as the best Center in the draft however not all teams look for the same thing in a Center. If the Eagles wanted a replica of Jason Kelce then Biadasz wasn't there guy. Ruiz would have been the choice followed by Matt Hennessy from Temple. Ruiz went to the Saints in the first and Hennessy went to Atlanta in the third, If you were concerned with run blocking and keeping your QB upright first and foremost,  Biadasz was your guy, If your main concern was your Center getting off the line quickly to get to the second level of blocking, then the other Centers were your men. It doesn't surprise me that Biadasz was more valuable to the Cowboys then he was to the Eagles with their running game and Prescott needing all the time he can get to throw the football deep,

I think it’s takes the whole enchilada. Got have that great accountant, negotiator, talent evaluator and coaches. Coaches got to develop the guys and they have to put them in positions to succeed. Hard to find guys that can wear multiple hats.

Absolutely blame Rosie for Alshon. He had no reason to guarantee Alshon. Then realized he screwed up right after he worked out the new deal with Alshon and tried to trade him. Rosie is the most guilty party in that situation. Most any player would be pissed if you work out new contract and they try and ship you out right after that...unless it was understood as part of the contract(ie sign and trade situation).

Ruiz was my guy. But dang he climbed up draft boards. I thought he could have been a good mid round pick for our future. Climbing to first round meant he was out of our range. I think we got Seumalo for the C job anyway. And I think Kelce has two more seasons in him. So we don’t really need a guy taking up a roster spot not to play for two years. Driscoll will get his shot. Herbig is here also.

I think Lurie needs more than that. He needs the money. Accomplished. Needs the younger wife. Accomplished. He also craves the fame and surrounding with celebs. Accomplished(Bradley Cooper and the Athletes). But I think he wants to be a Champion. It really eats at him. The hardest accomplishment of them all. But that’s also what makes it so satisfying!

Yeah, well he and I are only a year apart in age so he better hurry up if he wants to be considered a Champion. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while.
