Then why reset the clock when the trade is made?  Just turn in the name with the trade card.

Nah, while it may not be done or perhaps ever been done, doesn't mean it can't be done.

The clock isn't reset when a trade is made. If you finalize a trade with only one minute on the clock, you only get one minute to turn in your card.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Meh... I still would have traded back again, regardless...  the list of grievances against Howie doesn't need that added to it for the case to be built for his termination though.

I think that would be the first of its kind DURING THE DRAFT.  I get the value analysis.  But I really don't think it was mechanically possible.

They didn't even need to trade up, they could have waited and stuck with 12 and traded back from there with Chicago. Dallas already said no because they didn't want to move back that far, and the Eagles had enough intel to know the Giants were taking Smith so they had to jump them. Worse case scenario is the Giants still do the deal with the Bears but then you get Smith at 12.

So you are saying trade up with the Cowboys and then immediately trade back with the Bears?

I think if Howie had sat still DAL would still have drafted Micah Parsons at #10.  DAL refused the CHI offer to move back to #20 because they believed Parsons would be gone.  They were more than happy to take the Eagles offer because they knew NYG would take Smith over Parsons at #11, and Parsons would still be available to them at #12.

Under that scenario Parsons goes #10 to DAL, NYG take Smith at #11, and Howie has the choice whether to make a selection at #12 or take the Bears offer.  I really don't see that two trades would have been necessary.

I forget who keeps making this comp in here but Kaye is stealing some bloggers thunder

Quentin Nelson has the same injury as Wentz.  Getting surgery in an hour or so.

Oh... you mean Eagles' injuries... hard to say.

This I can buy.

That said, not sure how the fan base would have reacted if it became known that we passed on the opportunity to pick Smith this year for another first round pick next year.  Too reminiscent of "The Process" for folks to tolerate.

"The process" that people still complain that never got finished?

Pray you have a vacuum tight FO and it doesn't leak that Dallas was willing to trade lol. Then you can play it off that no one wanted to trade.

I'm guessing the 16 million in cap space guarantees that Ertz will be here for the remainder of his contract. Hope this year he'll be smart enough to play hard for his next contract.

I put the Eagles TC highlights on earlier while was dinner was being made.  20 minutes later, I was woken on the couch with a comment, well that is riveting isn't it.

Yes, the nap was great.

Nope - everything is just great just like the last few seasons.

How do you figure? He went 4-12 last year and probably gonna go 4-12 this year.

If we had a GREAT Roster, sure. but this team blows.

Now Rodgers, he can go to a BAD team (like Houston, like Philly) and WIn.  Mahommes, yep.

I think Mahomes could elevate a team, definitely, but I think you (and several other people) fail to understand that there needs to be some semblance of a team for a QB to succeed consistently. We saw Mahomes with a sub par line and receivers that couldn't catch and he put up a whopping 9 points, granted Tampa was/is a hell of a team. He has consistently been on a well coached, fairly stacked team. We have no real example of him carrying a team that was terrible. We do have an example of him doing next to nothing when his team offered him no support.

Again, that is not to say he's not incredible. He is, but he can't do it alone.

As for Watson, he just put up one of the better seasons this league has ever seen from a numbers standpoint. The team had a bad year. For his career, he has a winning record on a team that has consistently been a laughing stock with it's GM, coach, etc. He has consistently done well without a ton of help outside of Hopkins. He is still only 25 years old. As @downundermike has pointed out previously, several of his TDs were NOT in garbage time. Blaming Watson on the record for last year's Texans is the worst argument I've seen for not getting him.

We don't have a great roster, by any means, but we have a better line (with some youth thrown at it) than Houston. We have a better defense than Houston. We have a slew of young weapons that hopefully turn a corner. We can continue to support Watson with the upcoming drafts and hope Howie (or preferably a new GM) can pull it off.

Not wanting Watson based on the legal aspect, I totally get. I understand that. Not wanting him from a talent perspective? You should probably stop discussing football.

Just missed it

Cutting a 1st round pick after 1 season. Yikes. The correct decision.

Ask around these parts. We don't know the drill. For all we know the coaches told him to miss by a country mile!

Yup, they set up a big ass hoop, had him throw at the big ass hoop, and successfully avoided the big ass hoop like the coaches wanted. Meanwhile, when Flacco and Mullens immediately did the same drill after and made it in the hoop, they didn't do the drill correctly. Checks out.

Good. With a felony domestic violence indictment he wasn't going to be playing this year at least anyway.

Now when does Dallas sign him?

You guys are gonna make me stay out of the game day threads lol -- not that I ever ventured in.
