Exactly.  Different coaching staff, but when Agholor struggled his first season he was given more targets and more opportunity his second season, not the other way around.  Nelson was drafted before Doug took over, just as Reagor was drafted before Sirianni took over.  They were drafted in almost the identical draft slot and Reagor will get full opportunity before any coaching staff would "bury" him.

Coaching a player hard doesn't mean the coach doesn't like him -- it means the coach wants to get the best out of them.  It's up to the player to recognize that and respond appropriately.  Sirianni is also quick to praise and congratulate Reagor when he does something well.

When the HC is ignoring you, either you're guaranteed a starting job or you should check the terms of your lease.

This is a teaching camp, they've only had so much hands on time to coach over the summer, so they're going to be intense about fundamentals with a young team.

People need to relax, they've known Hurts needs to work on his fundamentals such as footwork and they've got a team working on him - but this will probably be an ongoing process all season, he's not going to rework his muscle memory in a week. It took Josh Allen three years to fix his issues.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Bad practices happen  to all teams

Arians said after a practice as bad as today, back in the day he’d "run the crap” out of players afterwards, but said you "go to jail” for doing that under current CBA

There's more people in here freaking out about people freaking out over a bad practice than people freaking out over a bad practice.

So last night's practice was the last training camp practice until the August 16th joint practice?

This team is not going to be ready.

Ben Smith is an even sadder story. That guy was a flat out stud in the making. I've said it countless times before, but I think it bears repeating, if only to inform Eagles fans who weren't aware of his history. By his second year, he started opposite Eric Allen, who was in his fourth year. And Smith was the better player. Then in a game against the Browns later in the year, after intercepting a pass that ended a record non-INT-throwing streak of Bernie Kosar, he tore up his knee. Done for the year. Came back the next year and was just another guy. Shipped off to the Broncos later on for a third round pick. I don't think he did much anywhere after that. That was a tragic injury.

I think saying he was better than Eric Allen is a stretch but he was good.

Had he not got hurt that legendary defense that year may have even been better.

Many think that eagles defense that year was the best ever defense behind The 85 Bears and Ben smith smith went down week 10?

I'm convinced if Cunningham and smith don't get hurt they're playing in a super bowl that year.

There is an old saying: You don’t have to worry when they’re yelling at you. You should worry when they stop yelling.

Are the Eagles practicing today?

He really hasn’t earned a shot…

But the Eagles are one of the most poorly constructed, least talented teams in the league.  So he’s all we’ve got.

The issue is that he’s going to have a legit excuse that he looked bad while playing with horrible weapons and a bad OL (after Lane and Brooks go down).  And that’s why it’s important to acknowledge that he hasn’t earned a shot....because understandably playing poorly with a horrible supporting cast doesn’t mean he gets another shot for another season.

I cannot imagine why with all your disdain for this team as constructed that you could even standing watching them let alone communicate about them on a message board.  Why waste any time on such bums?  If a player doesn’t step out of the box flawless and ready to play in the NFL they don’t deserve a shot.

I've only been on here for 5 years, but that's been the consistent theme for ..... 5 years.

That's a negative.  Washington had an historically great team that season.  Randall Cunningham wasn't even an historically good QB.

Hysterical response actually.  There is a lot of room between flawless and the players on the Eagles that I do not think deserve a shot.  You know that.  I know that.  Everyone knows that.  And most 2nd round QB's labeled as mediocre passers are not handed starting jobs.  Again, a lot of room between Hurts and "out of the box flawless."  Just a remarkable exaggeration when defending a 4 win team.

Not a stretch at all. The year before Ben Smith was drafted, opposing QBs simply threw away from Eric Allen. At the start of Ben's 2nd season, QB's were challenging Eric Allen instead.

Disagree, the Eagles had a historically dominant defense. If Jim McMahon could have stayed healthy they probably win an Owl.

I'm with @FranklinFldEBUpper that Smith was the better player. The closest comparison among Eagle DBs would be Troy Vincent. Allen was a finesse CB but Smith beat his man up, almost like Ronnie Lott. And he was fast.

They went 10-6 with 6 different QB's....had the number 1 defense straight across the board.  And if you ever want to see the most vicious display, go watch the House of Pain game from that season.  In today's day and age, the whole defense and their mothers would be suspended.

I think the Colts showed why you shouldn’t draft LB high. Is $20 million for Darius Leonard going to help you win a Super Bowl? Philosophically, the Eagles get this one right.

I'm not saying they couldn't have won, but you'd also have been looking at a playoff game matchup between Joe Gibbs and Rich Kotite.  WAS were scoring more than 30 points per game while giving up 14; their defense was pretty darn good as well.  Like I said, the Redskins were an historically great team.  The Eagles had an historic defense to go along with an offense that held them back -- and not just in that season.
