I'll also add most beats are saying last night was the best Hurts looked all camp. If so, yeesh. One very good throw, one routine throw, one good throw that was dropped, one not great throw that was still caught, one overthrow and one underthrow with one patented throwaway™️

2020, 1st rd pick TBD, wasted a 2 on a QB when there was needs, the rest of the glass, outside of Quez might not get anything.

2019 - 1st rd pick well on the way to being a bust, Sanders, good but dinged a lot, may not get a second contract,  JJAWful is a bust, and the rest are gone.

2018 - Goedert, Mailata and Sweat are decent if they get extensions, Madoox most likely won't get a second contract and Pryor will be cut this year.

2017 - Barnett is all that is left from 8 selections.

2016 - Seumalo is all that is left from 8 selections.

2014 - 2015, no one left.

So 2016-2020, 36 selections, 18 still left on the roster, and once Pryor, JJAWful are gone down to 16.  Then you have to decide on extensions for Mailata, Sweat and Maddox.

At best, as I see Maddox not getting a second contract, 15 of 36 selections will still be on the roster in 2022.  That of course is dependent on Taylor and Hightower making the roster.  Could only be 13

 

It's weird how many people in here want Hurts to be terrible.  I can't decide if it's because they are still pissed that Wentz is gone, or if it's because they're just miserable Fs who enjoy complaining about something over all else.

It's weird how everything goes back to Carson. Maybe one day people will realize he's gone and has nothing to do with the current team, and it's just a lazy excuse to defend, so far, mediocrity.

Some of it is that they don’t want the Eagles to make a mistake committing several years to what they see as a qb with mediocre at best upside.

Exactly what is visible from either the TV broadcast or the press box that would indicate either poise or lack of it, or command or lack of it in the huddle from hundreds of feet away?   I mean, I guess one could observe complete lack of poise and command by crazy arm waving, gestures to the sidelines, and whatnot, but generally, none of us knows what is going on inside the huddle.  I mean, there's rumors that at one point in the Super Bowl, Freddie Mitchell had to call a play because Donovan McNabb couldn't speak for whatever reason.  And there's about a gazillion cameras and angles available for the Super Bowl, especially in contrast to the first preseason game.   So, what is Roob actually saying here, something that he observed, or something that he wasn't able to observe a complete lack of poise and command, and therefore, he must have had it on display?

 

***Disclaimer, this is in no way a criticism of Hurts, but a question about the level of "reporting" from our beat writers.  I think Roob was looking for nice things to say and for lack of evidence to the contrary decided to throw this platitude in there for good measure.

Saw this being discussed earlier.  I thought it was a hold live, and in regular speed it is clearly a hold by Reagor.  In a regular season game no way this is not called.

I'm pretty worried about this

One thing that helps is the report Howie wanted to trade up for Wilson and the constant talk about Watson. Not that I wanted either of them but that Howie was still looking to improve. So maybe they aren't set on Hurts yet either

You can watch a young QB and see where his eyes go, is he looking at the rushers or downfield? Does he have happy feet? Is he confidently audibling at the LOS or does he look lost surveying the defense.

Hurts looked calm and collected, a bit mechanical in the pocket but no sign of panic or nervousness. Which is fine for the first exhibition game in a new scheme.

Reading comprehension a little slow this morning?  The quote was about the huddle, not the pocket.  Perhaps pour another cup of java for yourself.

Hurts has a tough road to win over people on a few fronts.  The original draft selection at #53 showed the organization lacked direction and commitment to their existing franchise QB -- even though they spent the money already, he carries the stigma of a one-read-and-run QB who doesn't have a cannon of an arm, nor is he an elite runner like Lamar Jackson (in spite of some in here asserting the contrary), and he was evaluated coming out of Oklahoma as a 3rd round prospect even though he put up similar numbers to Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield -- perhaps he was seen as a product of a system rather than a bonafide prospect?

I think most people have legitimate concerns.  While the national media and some casual football fans saw a young QB who injected life into an anemic offense last season, some of us saw limited upside and a habit of throwing late to the middle of the field.

One being true does not make the other one false.

The fact that JJAWful sucks does not automatically mean that Wentz did not have his own issues.  JJAWful did not play week 9-12, Carson's last 4 games.  Carson did not play well.  Not sure how JJAWful sucking has any impact on Carson's play.  He did not play in those games.
