Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Most older bloggers don’t spend a lot of time here during games.

It's gonna be a loooong year. Had a guy at work try to sell me two Chiefs- Eagles tickets for 600. Pay 600 to watch us get our asses kicked by Reid? Pass.

Weird to get so worked up over a preseason game that someone would feel the need to attack and tag a poster who isn’t here.

It’s gonna be a long season…

Impressions from the game...

-- I hate watching Joe Flacco. If the point of Flacco is to get the most competent veteran backup QB you could who no one wants to actually ever watch play football, I guess they made the right move. Stay healthy, Jalen.

-- Devonta Smith is already getting big time separation. So excited to watch him this season. Looks like the real deal.

-- Reagor looked off again tonight. He's going to be a work-in-progress all year I think, but hopefully he trends upward.

-- Milton Williams relies too much on physically dominating people. I didn't see the same kind of flash I did last week. He's good enough to be a contributer, but I doubt we're getting any consistency out of him this season.

-- Major Jalen Mills vibes from McPhearson, minus the All-Pro flex game. Was actually really discouraged by how easily receivers cut in front of him AND ran behind him.

-- A testament to the quality of Kyle Shanahan as an offensive mind? Getting anything remotely productive out of Nick Mullens.

-- Fulgham getting cut? Does he even play special teams?

I know right.  I mean these preseason games do have alot of game planning and preparation involved.  I'm sure Bill was thrilled with the victory tonight.

Agree with all of this. I did see Fulgham play a couple special teams snaps...

And this game was so important once Jalen Squirts was shut down we decided to sit three starting linemen.

People need to settle down a little bit. The game sucked, but it’s just a preseason game with roughly half our starters sitting out.

Was Huntley hurt? I don’t recall seeing him.

Yeah, he's out with something. Lower body IIRC.

A backup safety has no room to talk any kind of trash to anyone, especially a former MVP

Some thoughts about tonight. If you haven't seen the game and were planning on watching some time in the next couple of days, don't bother. It isn't worth it. Go watch an episode of Call the Widwife with your wife instead. Or watch some GeoWizard videos on Youtube or something. It was a bad performance all around. I'm disappointed, but I'm not particularly bothered. What I mean is, the loss doesn't portend a miserable future. At least not in my eyes. Almost no starters played, and the ones who did were only in there for a hot minute. Basically it looked like the Eagles were just satisfied with their work in practice that they didn't even care about the game.

It's funny. As I'm walking through the concourse as I'm getting ready to leave, there's a Patriots fan celebrating like they just won a playoff game. I just had to laugh. Then there was the other side of the coin. During the last ten minutes of the game, there was a guy standing nearby in front of the tunnel near my seat who was going nuts. An Eagles fan. Crying about the coaching. Convinced now that the team is going to be awful. And it was weird -- he kept referencing it being a "preseason game" but the way he was saying it, it was as though he was equating it to a playoff game. "Oh my God, they're playing like this in a preseason game!" As though he somehow thought it mattered. Okay, I get that it mattered to some small extent, but oh my God, not to the level that would justify this guy's complaints.

Anyway...no one on either of the starting lines played. The starting corners didn't play. Goedert and Ertz didn't play. Sanders carried the ball twice, I think, and looked good. Jordan Howard had one run and also looked good. And then both of those guys were on the sidelines. It was just a crapfest of backup players all over the yard. It's not necessarily an excuse for them playing terrible, but it is what it is. Oh, and the Eagles pass defense was reminiscent of the Super Bowl when there was no hope whatsoever of stopping Tom Brady. There were Patriots receivers running through the secondary wide open all night while their quarterbacks were barely pressured. That's what it reminded me of.

QB -- Hurts didn't play. It wasn't until I got home that I learned he was sick. Flacco was okay, I guess. His biggest screwup was on a play where Herbig snapped the ball about a mile over his head and he ran back to retrieve the ball. Instead of falling on and it making it second down and a million, he tried to pick it up and throw it away so as to at least get the ball back to the same line of scrimmage on the ensuing play. And he promptly fumbled the ball and turned it over. I honestly didn't think Mullens was terrible either, although he didn't lead the offense to much of anything. He did throw an interception, although the ball was batted.

RB -- As I said earlier, Sanders and Howard barely touched the field but looked good in their limited playing time. I kinda thought Gainwell was a bright spot. I guess someone had to be. I don't think Huntley played. Holyfield had a couple long-ish runs in garbage time but looked kinda slow. And he had a brutal play in pass protection where he got run over by a defender and allowed a sack. If I'm not mistaken it was his first play on the field. I remember thinking prior to the play that this will be the first snap I ever get to witness of this guy, who's been on the team for almost two years now. And then he looked awful.

TE -- Ertz and Goedert didn't play. Ditto Tyree Jackson, who's injured. Jason Croom suffered what is probably a serious injury. Richard Rodgers had a bad drop but otherwise looked like an NFL player. Jack Stoll was running around later in the game and made a couple of catches. I guess he looked okay enough.

WR -- DeVonta Smith played most of the first half and really didn't shine. He got his hands on about three balls he was unable to haul in. I guess one could be classified as a drop. He caught a couple of passes, so I wouldn't say his debut was a disappointment or anything. Jalen Reagor didn't exactly underwhelm, but he didn't whelm either. I think he caught one ball. And I was very disappointed with his kickoff returning. He didn't attack the defense the way a good kick returner does. Instead, he just sort of coasted while looking for an opening. He really seems better suited to punt returning. Hightower looked better on returns but didn't have too much success either. And a lot of the Patriots kicks ended up being touchbacks. Watkins was almost invisible. I don't remember Fulgham doing anything. Arcega-Whiteside had one ball thrown to him and he dropped it. Wonderful. Overall, the receivers were just kinda blah.

OL -- With Toth and Pryor as your tackles, you're in for a long night, I'm afraid. They were both terrible. I don't really know if anyone had a good performance. But the line was pretty bad.

DL -- No Cox. No Graham. No Sweat. No Barnett. No Kerrigan. No Hargrave. And the guys who played DT were getting stoned on the pass rush and getting knocked around on running plays. I'm afraid Marlon Tuipulotu is a waste of a sixth round pick. I don't see it. At all. Frankly, I'm not sure I'm seeing what I was expecting from Tarron Jackson either. I don't see him escaping contact too much or getting any kind of pressure on the quarterback. I don't think Marlon Williams had a great game but he did flash a bit of a burst on occasion. He did draw a flag when he was held on one of his pass rushes. Everyone else just kinda sucked.

LB -- For what it's worth, I thought the tackling was poor again. The only guys who flashed to me were Alex Singleton, who I would say actually had a good game -- and I say this despite him whiffing badly in space when he had a chance to make a clean 1-on-1 tackle, as well as maybe Genard Avery. I was disappointed with Shaun Bradley. I was hopeful when he was drafted that he could be something because he can run, but no, I don't think he can play. He gets knocked around too much and whiffs on too many tackles when he's in position to make plays.

DB -- Slay and Nelson didn't play. McPhearson got beat a lot but to his credit, he looks tough and will tackle. But I don't think he had a good night. Hell, nobody did. Maybe Elijah Riley would be the only one who caught my eye a little bit. But overall the secondary sucked. Hell, the whole defense was bad.

P/K -- Jake Elliott was injured and couldn't play. If it was a real game, the Eagles would have signed someone but since they didn't care about this game at all, they didn't even bother to pretend about kicking. Supposedly Arryn Siposs would have attempted a field goal if it came down to it (that's what Spadaro said prior to the game), but I'm skeptical of that because he never attempted any kicks in warmups. He did have a pretty good game punting, I guess. I also thought the punt and kick coverage units did a good job.

So, final conclusion. Brutal game. They mailed it in. Only guys who might have played well were Gainwell and Singleton.

Yea I’ve been on the fence about buying Sunday ticket this year. Was leaning towards yes this time a week ago, not so sure now.

It's kinda funny seeing people freak out over a preseason game.  Regardless, the Eagles aren't expected to win many games anyway so what do people expect?

Why does this just sound so weird? When has a guy ever shown up and warmed up feeling well enough to dance, get sent to a hospital, get discharged and went back to the stadium, just to end up going home in a span of like 3 hours?

It may be preseason but we look like straight dog crap

And last week we looked good. And in joint practices we looked good.

Eh we didn't look that good last week.

Against the Steelers? The firsts and a number of the seconds did.

Tell ya one thing the Eagles are about as deep as a puddle. We have no one capable of being a solid starter anywhere if we start losing guys. I’ve never seen a team be weak in depth at every position. Maybe TE is fine but everything else is horrible

Thats the part that I take issue with.
