It's a rebuild b/c that's what you do when a contender gets too old, you start dumping players and adding youth.

Won't surprise me if both Ertz and Dillard are gone by September for 2 more draft picks.

And this season is likely to be one long audition with players shuffling in and out as Howie raids other teams' practice squads.

Or you draft well and the team doesn’t become old all at once. , you have a mix of veterans and youth .

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

And you scheme for that. The coaches have already said they don’t want to show anything.

So who to believe.  afan and his band of apologists that it doesn't matter, or one of the team leaders, gosh, that is a hard one.

Could tell Lane was passed last night.

He had to go do a little sideline interview with spadaro in the 4th quarter.

Dave cracked a joke about Lane having the best hairstyle on the team.  Lane didn't even crack a smile. Not in the joking mood.

I still remember when no one wanted to work with Howie, and then we hired Chip Kelly.

People just love to hate.

And what happened to Howie after we hired Chip Kelly?

Just giving instances where it all goes back to one person, Howie. Would it be a shock if all these "veteran days off" or "1-2 series for starter/no starters playing at all" weren't actually coaching decisions but from some analytical nerd who has bed sheet fort sleepovers with Luries son? I wouldn't be surprised.

Taking it a step further, I wonder if McDaniels was actually offered the job but didn't want to deal with all the BS and said no. That wouldn't surprise me at all. Daboll didn't even bother interviewing here and would rather be an OC. These should all be red flags.

We know Howie is a red flag.  I'm happy we didn't hire McDaniels.  I'm ok with analytics and veteran days off but I agree they should be Sirianni's call.  Is it possible Sirianni is too willing to listen to the nerds and Howie.  I would guarantee he is definitely listening to them at this point.  I do think he may agree with the approach.

Nah, it's preseason, nothing to see here

Ask @HazletonEagle on this one.

No.  That doesn't happen at taco bell.

I’m pretty sure come game time , Siri won’t be throwing anything out there that the NFL coaches have never seen before .

You don’t need to show anything to convert a single 3rd down , what do you thing the rest of the NFL is doing in preseason games ? Showing everything ? Showing nothing ?

I could be wrong but I bet every other team has converted 1 3rd down

No S. I’m not suggesting he’s going to change the way football is played, but he’s going to scheme for other teams’ tendencies, and he’ll have his own handful of plays he likes to run given down and distance and he doesn’t want to show that yet.

Cripes. This isn’t hard to figure out.

I think there were some bright spots like Milton Williams again.  I think Zech McPhearson looked like a rookie who is a long way from starting.  I though K'von Wallace had one nice play but may have blown the coverage on one of the TDs.  The number 1 WRs played well despite some drops from Smith.  Gainwell looked pretty good. The QB play was awful.  Flacco should be cut.

Yup.

I was referring more to the backups, 3rd team, then again the majority of those backups won't be on rosters in a couple of weeks

And it would be more reassuring if the eagles Insurance salesman could put up a better fight against the pats insurance salesman.

Agree. How do you feel the Jets have done since Douglas went there?

12 of 15 picks from his first two drafts are still on the roster.

Looking at their depth chart, 5 starters, 2 backups.

Too bad he didn't crumple Spadaro up into a little ball and slam him into a garbage can

That is the big concern.  There seemed to be no fight in them at all.  Did they just quit when Jalen Hurts took his leadership to the hospital ??

Agreed. I have to chuckle at the idea that the Eagles actually have anything to hide in the first place.

It's pretty wild how differently some teams are approaching the shortened preseason. Eagles seem to be going all in on joint practices but very few starters during the game and a lot of vanilla stuff. Meanwhile you've got a largely veteran team in NE going pretty much the first half with the ones. Gonna give Belichick the benefit of the doubt on this one over Sirianni but still it's interesting.

If I were a gambler I'd pay very close attention to any changes to the over/under lines through the preseason for teams. A big drop for a team that completely rested their starters (or vice versa) might be something to take advantage of. That's not to say the games aren't important at all to evaluate a team, but they also may change perception more than is really warranted.

What’s Lane gonna say? "We benched our three elite linemen, so of course the OL sucked and decimated the rest of our offense that was playing with a backup QB.”

I’m glad he wants to hold scrubs accountable for their play, but that doesn’t make it more reasonable to expect them to play well against another team’s starters.

As a backup or bubble guy I wouldn't appreciate hearing a well paid vet saying what Lane said.

On one hand, you have these highly compensated guys running the NFLPA and taking away pre-season games which are an opportunity to improve, and showcase to earn jobs, here or with another team.

You have those guys not caring about pre-season. Not wanting the games. And not really having to play. You hear all week in practice how those games don't matter,  and practice is more important.

Then,  you as a fringe guy are expected to go out and be up for the game that's just been diminished and minimized all week by half the team.

Now,  personally as the bubble guy and backups, you have something to prove for yourself.  But thanks to the vets not competing in the game,  you are set up for failure by being sent to play against other starters and more experienced players. You're not going to look as good.

So not only have the vets cost you reps, they've made a mess out of what little opportunity you get.

And now those same vets want to criticize you for not representing the team well? If Lane is concerned about representing the team in pre-season then he should play. And convince his other veteran teammates of that importance.  Good luck with that Lane.

Spadaro should have been made a sacrifice for the Eagles ruining the fan's experience at training camp (i.e. the move from Leigh), on the website, and now at games.

If you don’t think OCs want to convert 3rd downs because it’s preseason  , I’m not sure what to tell you .

I guess we shall see in a cpl weeks  , when it’s regular season

Again It's preseason but at the same time, shouldn't our 2nd and 3rd Stringers be able to put a drive together?  Depth is very important, it's how we won our Super Bowl 3 years ago (Crazy, time is flying).   Again I never take too much stock in preseason because it's a glorified practice.  But letting Beli run up the score on us and getting a goose egg at home without an answer?  We can do better.   As for Jalen, it's clear we need him to be healthy for the season.   Yes Game reps are important but I want Jalen to be healthy or Week 1. I honestly don't care if he doesn't play the rest of Preseason and gets these next three weeks to get ready.

Tell ya one thing the Eagles are about as deep as a puddle. We have no one capable of being a solid starter anywhere if we start losing guys. I’ve never seen a team be weak in depth at every position. Maybe TE is fine but everything else is horrible

Don't worry we never have injury  problems..  oh wait.

The Eagles won 4 games last season -- 3 of those wins were against DiNucci, Mullens, and Taysom Hill.  It's pretty much a given the team lacks depth.  I have them going 7-10 this season and I might be the most optimistic poster on the board.

They don't even really have depth at TE because Ertz could be gone tomorrow; even if he's here which Ertz will we get?

There are people who think we can contend because of Hurts and the new young receivers

Just my opinion, but its probably because we aren't seeing Sirianni. He doesn't even know if he'll get control over gameday inactives, there's multiple times he's been asked a coaching question that he answered in some way with "conversations with Howie", he preaches competition but then doesn't compete in games etc. There's people above him telling him what to do.

IIRC he said Howie has control of the 90 but Nick has control of the 53
