Well, that may not have been your meaning, but it is pretty close to a word for word statement.   Unfortunately, that is now taking on a life of its own.

  AFan was probably relying on context from earlier posts and using shorthand in the first post.   This isn’t the first time he has pointed to PPG as a measurement of QB success but in the context of why individual stats can be so misleading.   But that was funny the way you did that.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Pretty sure you dont know what a once in a generation talent is.

A kid who didnt get HUGE D1 scholarships, below .500 record in college, not on anyone's award boards, slated to go mid-late 1st round.

And side note, if Mahomes had Gase, Anthony Lynn, Marvin Lewis, Matt Patricia, etc etc We wouldnt have the same Mahomes we see today

If Mahomes had the lions roster. or Texans or jags etc , you wouldn’t have the same Mahomes .

Correct.  Exhibit A, McNabb with TO, or with DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin.

Why do you keep acting like a quarterback shouldn't have weapons?

Not really. Reid has showed you time and time again he can make junk WR's become pro bowlers.

What?

Lol if Mahomes had the 2020 Eagles Oline he wouldn’t be the same either

Here you go @Swoop

Really, do you think before you post ??  Pro bowl WR's under Andy Reid.

2003, TO

2009 and 10, Desean

2016 - 2020, Tyreek Hill

What a list of junk WR's

Likely... that's the issue with this mode of communication.

You forgot that vaunted 2014 Chiefs offense.

Eagles fan Syndrome.  Eagles don't have very good history of having WRs.

Did you watch the early years with McNabb?

Too busy watching the Steelers.

This.  He put the best scheme around McNabb to get the most out of who he was, he did not turn him into something at the end that he was not in the beginning.

2000, year 2, 58%, 21 TD's, 13 picks

2003, year 5, 57.5%, 16 TD's, 11 picks

2009, year 11, 60.3%, 22 TD's, 10 picks

And before you guys bring up 2004, remember Jeff Garcia completed 63 percent of his passes and had 63 TD's vs 22 picks with TO.

Go back to 2003 and remove the first two games when he had a thumb injury and couldn't grip the ball. Rest of the season he had similar numbers to 2004.

Then blew out his knee in 2005 and was never the same.

I'm not following along with the argument much but I do think their is a difference between developing a QB and developing an offense to get the most out of a certain QB.

I made that distinction last week  ...... but I was somewhat mocked

39 minutes ago, NCiggles said:

I don't know how true that is because you could have an average QB that plays on a running team that scores a lot of points.  For example, Lamar Jackson passed for just over 2700 yards on a top five scoring offense last season.  I do think you are right that if you have a QB that looks good from a stats standpoint it could be misleading if the team cannot score.  I will say, however, the Chargers were 19th in scoring last year.  No one would say Hebert wasn't very good as a rookie QB.

Jackson is sui generis, for one thing, is he "average," Now he's an average or below average passer, but his offense scores a lot of points.

Vick was similar in Atlanta.

Now this kind of QB is vulnerable against the right defense, but they don't have to become great passers to adjust to defenses that take away the run, just better passers. We'll see if Jackson makes that transition, Vick might have if he had AR earlier in his career.

I am shocked that you were mocked!

I think it's a good distinction but I don't think the 2 ideas are mutually exclusive.  A team can build an offense around a QB and use that structure to develop the QB.  Arguably, that is exactly what a good coach does for a QB.

I just want to thank Andy for the hands he drafted for being so great.

Oh no, I get mocked quite regularly -- but it's usually out in public and not on a message board.

I think they have. Driscoll.     They just need to get Driscoll some work at G.

They've been giving Toth all the snaps at LT with Dillard out. He's got potential, Army OT so he's having to adjust to the pro game as well as reshape his body (military football players tend to be lighter than most college OL, especially Air Force, but really all the services, due to their training off the football field).

Yeah, week 3-7 look the same as 2004.:roll:

So taking out week 1 and 2, he threw 16td's vs 9 int's.

So taking out week 1 and 2, he completed 60% of his passes.

Sure looks like the same as 64% completions, 31 TD's v 8 picks.

If anything it backs up the Andy Reid case.

We had poop at WR's for years and yet we always had a top 10 offense.

It shows offensive line is much more important than WR. Although, what we also experienced is that it’s extremely difficult to win a Super Bowl with bottom 5 WR play.
