Not really. Reid has showed you time and time again he can make junk WR's become pro bowlers.

If anything it backs up the Andy Reid case.

We had poop at WR's for years and yet we always had a top 10 offense.

Gotta love that 180.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Well in 2006, he had a TD to Pass attempt ratio of 5.7 (2nd highest of his career, to the 2004 6.6) and INT to pass attempt ratio of 1.9 compared to 1.7 in 2004). He only played 10 games that year, but had such stand outs as Reggie Brown and Stallworth as his top WRs.

But that's the same as his initial 2 years of 3.2 TD/Pass ratio right? No development to see here....

Doug P will go down as one of the worst coaches of all time.

So yes, between a HC upgrade(HUGE) and a healthy Mahomes, 10 wins for sure. probably more seeing how bad this division was.

What?

Just because they'd be on the team? Did you not see the recent SB? Even Mahomes needs an Oline

Just having them here does not make this a 10 win team

Please explain in detail besides them just being on the team

Jackson is sui generis, for one thing, is he "average," Now he's an average or below average passer, but his offense scores a lot of points.

Vick was similar in Atlanta.

Now this kind of QB is vulnerable against the right defense, but they don't have to become great passers to adjust to defenses that take away the run, just better passers. We'll see if Jackson makes that transition, Vick might have if he had AR earlier in his career.

Vick under a coach that cared about his development as a QB would have been a much different player and maybe have avoided some of the issues he had.  Of course, Randall was resistant to learning to play QB until he was an older player.  I mean he chafed under Gruden who may have made him a better QB.

I think my point remains about QB development and the quality of the QB.  Jackson is an elite runner and not a good passing QB.  IF you are evaluating his ability as a passer, that being the essential function of a QB beyond just handing the ball off, you would have to say that they score points despite his passing and not because of it. Taking points scored as the most important stat leaves something to be desired because I think you could overlook the lack of development in a key component of the game.

I think when looking at Hurts and the questions that arise about him as a franchise QB, the best way to assess him is how he performs as a passing QB. If Hurts looks like Lamar Jackson (but without the elite speed) it will be clear the Eagles should look at a 1st round QB.   I don't think one passing stat is weighted more than another but of course all of them are dependent. It's possible for him to look not great passing for a lot of yards.  He could pass for 30 TDs and 35 INTs.  He could be a victim of holding on to the ball too long on 3rd downs leading to too many bad sacks.

It shows offensive line is much more important than WR. Although, what we also experienced is that it’s extremely difficult to win a Super Bowl with bottom 5 WR play.

Tom Brady won super bowls with not much at WR and lost super bowls with elite WRs.

Though I agree can't hurt to have good WRs

They really shouldn’t have put him on the list because of everything. That said he was 18 overall. Also only wilson, brady, rodgers, allen and mahomes on the list are ahead of him at QB

What are you talking about? You named 3 guys over a 25 year career, one of which was a 5th rounder.

You said he proved time and again he can turn junk WR's into pro bowlers.  He has not done it once.

Should have put him on the bad for PR exclusion list, and bumped everyone else up one spot.  No need to hit that hornet's nest with a stick until the dust settles.

I dont think I said Pro bowler, what I said was gold. He got 1200 yards out of Kevin Curtis lol. Reggie Brown had a 900 yard year with Andy Reid and never played again lol.

So, did Andy Reid bang your wife or something? the amount of hate, and bullspit you're willing to say makes me believe he did something personal to you

Really ??

Also, please show me where Reggie Brown had 900 yards, and then show me how he never played again after it.  This shows he played in 40 more games after his career high of 816 yards, but I will round it up to 900 just for you.

Explain what? That Andy/ Mahomes is way better then Wentz and doug.

Like I dont know whats so hard to fathom.

You replied to me saying they would make 2020 Eagles a 10 win team just by being on the team

Did you forget there was a record combination of Oline? All of those injuries all over the team. Players giving up

But they'd be a 10 win team just by having Andy and Mahomes lol

Mahomes when he had a banged up OL and weapons that were dropping passes put up a whopping 9 points. Now add about 10 more injuries to the OL and add a prima donna that has his mom carry an umbrella for him and see what happens.

I'd pump the breaks on the slam dunk double digit win argument.

I am shocked that you were mocked!

I think it's a good distinction but I don't think the 2 ideas are mutually exclusive.  A team can build an offense around a QB and use that structure to develop the QB.  Arguably, that is exactly what a good coach does for a QB.

There is definitely some shades of grey in there. I see it as this, using Josh Allen as an example. Daboll has been his OC exclusively. Allen came in with physical tools but was a complete mess with putting everything together. His mechanics were bad, he was skittish and was just getting by the best way he could, but overall his first two years were bad. Then he spends all offseason training with Jordan Palmer to get his mechanics right, get his throwing motion, footwork etc cleaned up. At the same time, Beane puts a team of playmakers around him including Beasely, Brown and Diggs. Daboll takes the players and builds an offense around them, and Allen comes in and has a fantastic year.

So Beane and Daboll directly have a hand in "developing" Allen, but IMO Palmer should get more credit for fixing the things that specifically relate to a QB, and QB only.

Afan and Bacarty talking out of their ass, contradicting themselves and rambling incoherent, poorly thought out arguments.

Just an average day on TATE.

Which point is that ??

The scrub WR's that Andy made pro bowlers ??

That Reggie Brown had 900 yards ??

That Reggie Brown never played again after never having 900 yards ??

yes if you take off the worst QB in the league, and then put on the best QB it's going to make the team A LOT better.

Then, we watched Doug cost us no less then 3 games last year with TERRIBLE play calling.

It backs up your point that you called a TE a WR because you own his jersey?

Stop. LMFAO.

That's all you got.  You made multiple false statements, and I proved them all wrong.

When you resort to that reply, you are done.

I have no ill will towards Andy Reid, I share a birthday with the guy.

Not sure how any of that is relevant to the two idiotic statements you made.

How are you just ignoring the Oline and injuries all over the team? But Andy and Mahomes will still get us 10 wins with a record number of Oline combinations?

Did you even see the recent SB?

FUGAZI FAN!!!!!!!

Not sure what is funnier, that he thinks Lewis was a WR, or that he thinks Lewis was a scrub.

Scored 9 points with Kelce and Hill, but would win 10 games with lesser talent and no offensive line.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm, probably not.

Yes

Has anyone sat down and watched other pre-season games and thought that other teams just look lightyears ahead of the Eagles?

The Steelers rookies look fantastic.  The Browns appear to have great depth.  The Jets have a legit QB to build a team around.  The Redskins are a QB away from being a SB contender.  There are RB3 and RB4 all over the NFL I would take as RB2 here.

I know the Eagles are rebuilding but even in a rebuild there should be guys to be excited about.  So far all I have is the following....and it's a stretch:

-Milton Williams looks to be a force.

-Quez Watkins had a great TD and should have had another.

-Smith ran nice routes. (also injured twice already)

-Singleton makes a lot of tackles.

-Harris looks physical at safety.

-Elliot (pre injury) appears to be back on track.

I want to be positive and excited but I'm just not finding much.  For a team to put so much emphasis on the value of practice they sure were quick to side with the veterans and cancel OTA's.  I know I've harped on that a lot but it just doesn't make sense.  This team and this coaching staff need as much time on the field together as possible.

Do any of the WR other than Smith, Reagor and Watkins have a reception?  Even those 3 combined only have what 7 catches through 2 games?  None of them from Jalen Hurts btw.  Think about that.  It's possible that we go in to week 1 without Hurts completing a pass to a WR.  Is pre-season overrated?  Maybe, but I also think it's a case by case situation.  With a brand new staff and a new starting QB, I would think you want as much time on the field as possible.  You can't replicate live game action in joint practices when you aren't even tackling.

I think we're in for a long long year.
