I believe I can see a wager coming between you and @ManuManu on YPC for Ward.

Don’t hold your breathe. I really don’t bet. I had enough of that dealing with juries for close to four decades and never found a need outside of work.
I am not going to change Manu’s opinion of Ward but I am not so sure we are as far apart as most think.  I see a player who changed positions and did not look good at first but learned under Keith Williams and has put the effort in to become a better player but one where you kind of hope you can find someone with more speed that can replace him.  Look at Smith, better hands, even better route running and better speed.  Both he and Watkins worked on their routes, some together, in the offseason.   But Watkins has the speed and seems to be getting better hand catching. (Ward influence?).  Frankly, I hope that attention to improving will wear off on Reagor and whichever of the other WRs sticks. I think we are going to be really pleasantly surprised at the quality of routes from the WRs this year.  One thing I see from some of the beats is Ward is one of the most popular players in the locker room.  That doesn’t surprise me at all.

Long time posters know that I like the work ethic underdogs.   Those players that fight and scratch to get on a team and carve out a spot.  My choices for those roles this year are Gainwell, Stevens, and surprisingly for me, Johnson.  One of those is going to rise from their day 3 draft status. Jackson may be the next Ward.(Putting in the effort to successfully change positions.). Could be Stevens.  For the dark horse, Awosika, who at the least has some punch. The fact that they are cross training at RT is intriguing.  Some of those guys are going to the PS.  But that doesn’t mean failure.  Mikell went to the PS.  Jackson (C) went to the PS.

Of wide receivers, I think Ward has the second best set of hands on the team.  But when you factor in speed for separation, we are talking the #4 WR.  Would like to have seen Fulgham and Hightower put in Quez and Greg type of work.  JJAW needed more than reflecting to make him a better WR.  Hightower has the speed.  He is taller too but the same weight as Ward.  Bad hands. Not very good hands for Fulgham either.  Both need better work ethic.  JJAW seems to think as a second round choice he is somehow entitled. No visible work ethic.  Some of those three can at best hope for the PS. Hell, Patton may have outplayed all three.  I could see all three being cut and maybe not even getting PS spots depending on who is available on the waiver wire in five days.  So give me the work ethic, try hard guys.  They may not make it and frequently you are always looking for someone better, but while they are here, I am going to like them.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

The NFL preseason always existed foremost to gouge season ticket holders.

Every so often!?  You moron...  until a couple days ago I hadn't been in here in a year-and-a-half...

Stefan Wisniewski is retiring.....off the top of my head, I can't remember who he replaced in 2017.  I remember Big V filling in for Jason Peters but who was the starting LG the SB year?

I think I am going to like the joint practices.  Good move getting two of them.  I think we could we see in the coming years the NFL trading two of the remaining PS games for the 18th game and two joint practices.  Heck, if they could work a deal with the XFL for a developmental league agreement to effectuate assignments like NFL Europe, I could see the PS games disappearing entirely.  Can’t believe there is that much revenue in them but if they want, they could sell tickets to the joint practices. I might be more willing to lay out some cash for those than a PS game.

Serious stuff starts with the next practice.  Down to the 69 (Practice Squad counts) with game planning for two weeks and out from under the eyes of the media and public.

I think given the low expectations from the Eagles this year that they are toying with preserving the starters this preseason.  May be a bit on the cutting edge.  In the past, first PS, a couple of series  for starters, second went well into the second quarter to a half for the starters, third went into the third for the starters and at most a series in the fourth, if any, for the starters.  Equivalent of 18 games.  If the starters play at all Friday, we are talking maybe the equivalent of a half at most for the starters.  So the Eagles starters get 17 1/2 games (assuming no playoffs).  That is less wear and tear.  I also think they are fine if the experiment fails given the low expectations this year.  I think I have come to grips with that possibility.  I do think, however, as we react, we need to see how health and condition play out in December.

Yeah I think a great many will be watching with anticipation the results of Sirrianni's experiment

Less Injuries would be a welcome change.

Surprise, surprise the reason the Eagles don't play starters in preseason and run camp cupcake is because of Lurie and Howie.

While I agree Braveheart is more fiction than fact, you seem to be downplaying the real Wallace. He wasn't a "warlord", he was a noble, who rebelled against Edward's insistence that Scotland be subservient to England. Wallace and Moray fought for Scottish independence. I'm not sure why you act like subservience to a king wasn't something the people then wanted? They just preferred a king of their own to Edward, which seems reasonable.

He was named Guardian of Scotland after his win at Stirling Bridge, which was a masterclass in war tactics. Wallace even went into North England at one point on raids. Ultimately, the story is great because the English had all the advantages, in terms of money, supplies, training and equipment, yet the Scottish, led by Wallace initially, were able to fight back and score some impressive victories. It writes itself. And, he did in fact kill a sheriff, though obviously the wife and Prima Nocta were nice Hollywood devices.

Yes, Bruce is also an incredibly interesting character as well. His victory at Bannockburn is also legendary. But Wallace has the life that was better suited for Hollywood, and it's not close.

I feel so bad for those families.  Thinking just five more days and their loved one is safe.  All we accomplish with revenge though is prolonging this. Let’s get our people out and come home.  Instead of Remember the Maine, maybe our slogan should be Everyone Home Safe.

Put in anyone else aside from Sleepy Joe. His incompetence is incredible. Need to secure that airport before they destroy the runway, get all US citizens out (and other allies), and destroy all of our equipment.

Edit not anyone else. Certainly not Kamala either.

What I said wasn't about politics.

Every condemnation I see of the Eagles in national projections, seem to forget about the injuries the Eagles had on offense last year

This is it. It's always been it. I'm not saying the Eagles would have been a good team without all the injuries last year. They might have been. They might not have been. We'll never really know. But with the injuries they had on offense, it was always doomed. It wasn't run-of-the-mill injuries like most teams have to endure, it was an injury spree of catastrophic proportions. I believe at one point, they had only two of their top eight offensive lineman available to play. Both of their upper level tight ends were hurt, with one of them missing substantial time. They had injuries at wide receiver. And Sanders was hurt some too.

So that's one reason I'm not really too upset about Sirianni sitting out his starters in the preseason. At this point, let's just do everything we can to try to be healthy to start the season and see what happens.

Yep. We are in here arguing about preseason games, season records, etc., while those guys put it all on the line for our country in that worthless shiithole.  It's not about politics with this situation.  It's about the Armed Forces doing what they do, so we can do mostly meaningless stuff day-to-day.  We lost troops.  Sad day.

Just watched General McKenzie.  12 service personnel dead, 15 injured.  11 Marines  and a Navy medic.  If we haven’t said so in a while, thank you for your service. Events like today remind us that every day in country guys and gals like you were putting your lives on the line in service to the rest of us.
