Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Nah.  If anyone in here fits their slogan, Keep Austin Weird, it is AFan. I suspect at some point he will return there. I have spent enough time in Austin to see the fit.

I doubt it, because housing prices have gone through the roof - too many California engineers moving in. My Austin died in the 1990s, when I went back it wasn't the same other than a few spots, and for that I can just come in for a weekend and hit them. When they paved over Liberty Lunch an era had passed. Traffic is terrible, and too many yuppie restaurants and people who like to talk about how much money they make and spend.

I'm looking at San Marcos, which is kinda what Austin was a few decades ago, college town, Texas State dominates the place though they are getting some telecommuters, hopefully the Austin firms will make people show up for work so they don't want to physically commute that far. "A river runs through it" literally.

Fear the Matt Leo, Wilson. He’s coming for you.

Matt Leo did get a sack the other day. It sent my spidey senses tingling.

It is not surprising that the Eagles are going to rest their starters. They have much more important things to attend to    -    it is World Rock Paper Scissors Day.

I had to go look up if that is a real thing, it is, today, oh the irony. @4for4EaglesNest will love this.

Yep.  That’s all I need to know.  Winners play and compete.

Bucs HC on how long starters will play in final preseason game

"I don’t know – I hope. I hope to see what I want to see in this first half or else we’ll still be playing in the third quarter. We have to play, and I have to see us play. They have to see themselves play.”

Damn, it really is.  🏆

So 12 days is to much time between game reps for Tom Brady and his 299 career starts, but 31 days is OK for Jalen Hurts and his 4 career starts.  Interesting.

There's more than one way to skin a cat. Aaron Rodgers hasn't played a single pre-season snap, I believe. Ditto Russ Wilson and a few others....

Nonsense.  A 7 time Super Bowl winning QB and a Super Bowl winning head coach and 2 time Super Bowl winning assistant coach surely don't know more than a never coached a regular season game head coach.

I think I would follow the example of the guy who has started 299 games and won 7 titles, but that's just me.

If you thought he was going to be a pro bowler, like some here suggest you dont wait till the 7th round to grab him...agree?

If you thought he was going to be a starter by year 3, you wouldnt wait till you grab him till the 7th round... agree.

Think about what your saying. You're saying the Eagles, whom cant draft ANYONE in ANY ROUND all of a sudden KNEW EXACTLY they were getting in the 7th round.

LOL AT ANY NOATION THE EAGLES KNEW WHAT THEY WERE GETTING.

They took an uber athletic, but completely unrefined guy late in the draft (which is generally where those guys go), and handed him over to one of the best O line coaches in the league to develop. You think it's pure luck that they were able to develop him?

Brady is such an outlier that I wouldn't put anybody down for not doing exactly as he does. He's a freak.

Mailata - Getting lucky on a 7th rounder while wasting a 1st, 4th and 6th isnt good

Gainwell/Williams/McPhearson havent touched an NFL field yet.

Quez has 7 catches last year lol.

so you're praying 4 guys a really good, ignoring it took basicvally 4 picks to find Mailata and o ya, there's about 20 TERRIBLE picks between.

You are missing the keyword of my reply..."IF"

and more importantly, nor has Matt Ryan.....Eagle's game one opponent.

Yeah, why win 7 titles when you could win 1, or none.

Do you understand the word outlier?

Yes, Brady is playing a half, Matt Ryan is not playing at all.  Comparing Ryan and his 200 career starts to Jalen Hurts and his 4 career starts, going into a new system is absurd.

The rich folk from Austin have taken over Driftwood and Wimberly.  Gruene (hilarious my spellcheck tried to change that to Greene) is a friggin suburb. San Marcos is built up and now almost a suburb of Austin.  My sister lives at Canyon Lake.   Out to the west in the Hill Country it is still a lot more like it used to be except Fredericksburg.  You have to get away from the I 35 corridor.  I would say nowadays San Marcos is governed more by I 35 than the university.

Not sure the issue with my reply.  Why do what the outlier does and win 7 titles when you can instead not do it and win 1, or none.

Listen, we all understand the way things have been done for a long time. It seems some teams are trying a new way of doing things, which we don't have enough data to support if it's a good idea or not. Your assertion that it's doomed to fail no matter what is equally absurd.

He's an outlier because nobody can do what he does. He's won by being a check down guy, by being a deep thrower, bombs away guy, being a cheater, being a deflator, just about any way, the guy finds a way to win. I hardly think any of that has anything to do with him playing a half a pre season game in his 20th year in the league.

In fact, the only things that can stop Brady are Eli Manning and Nick Foles. It's remarkable.

More from Bucs HC , I’m just pointing out there are different approaches to final preseason game

"We don’t need game experience against Dallas. We gotta get some game experience before we play Dallas,” Arians said. "It’s too late [on Sept. 9], they’re way too good to all of a sudden get [caught] up to game speed.

"Game speed is something different. You know what I mean? If you’re going full speed, you ain’t getting hurt. It would be a freak thing and a freak thing is going to happen. But them not playing and the all of a sudden playing game speed on Thursday Night Football in front of the world. That’s way too fast to find out all of a sudden.”

Hurts is none of those people

Cmon man, they only have 186 and 140 more career starts than Hurts.  Otherwise they are the same.

It's so obvious too. We worked him out multiple times pre-draft. Our OL coach begged for us to draft him. We trade UP to draft him. His development was expectedly slow given he had no experience. The ceiling was always sky high, the question was whether he could get it....and he's gotten better every year.

Wanna bet ??

Yes, it's an absolute outlier in this organization, in the league and in history.

You're telling me that we move up to take an LT, who's athletics, who works with the best Oline coach in the league and he doesnt work, but we knew EXACTLY what we were doing when we drafted a LT 7 rounds later lol.

Everyone on this board ****es about how bad of a drafter Howie is, how he cant find water if he falls out of a boat, but now you want me to believe he knew EXACTLY what he was doing with a non football player from another country in the 7th round lol.

This goes back to my previous point, people argue on here just to argue.

You're just being obtuse. Nobody knows what any of these guys will be. You draft for potential. There are likely a few teams that had their eyes on Mailata, but figured he would be an UDFA and were willing to let him fall. Howie made a decision to trade up for him and it has turned out to be correct. Why not give him credit where it's due?
