I liked a lot of what you had there.

Offense (25)
QB(3): Hurts, Flacco, Minshew
RB(4): Sanders, Scott, Gainwell, Howard
TE(3): Ertz, Goedert, Jackson  I see them holding on to Jackson only long enough to stash him on IR.  Then Richard Rodgers returns!
WR(6): Smith, Reagor, Watkins, Fulgham, Ward Hightower and possibly TWO waiver wire additions.

OL(9) Mailata, Seumalo, Kelce, Brooks, Johnson
Herbig, Dillard, Driscoll Opeta, Clark  Given the PS rules now, .  Toth makes the roster.  This frees up the extra roster spot for another WR.

PS additions:  Clark, Ward, Stoll, Opeta, Holyfield
I don't see Clark as on the roster, but as one of the veteran PS guys (and would be activated if the OL needed bolstering).
I can see Ward getting cut as well, and added back to the PS for the same reason as Clark.  I don't see another team snatching him up, and it would open the door for the Eagles to grab another big speed guy WR from another team's cuts.  Ward is really a slot guy only.  Watkins will be there a lot, with some Reagor snaps.  And with Ertz still around, that means fewer slot snaps.  There's just no reason to have him back there.  And the defense of Ward for PR

Defense (25)
DE(5): Barnett, Graham, Sweat, Kerrigan, Avery, Jackson
DT(5): Cox, Hargrave, Williams, McGill, Ridgeway
ILB(2): Wilson, Edwards
OLB(4): Singleton, Taylor, Bradley, Johnson
S(4): Harris, McLeod, Wallace, Epps, Adams             McLeod doesn't count against the roster as he will start the season on PUP.
CB(5): Slay, Maddox, Nelson, Scott, McPhearson, waiver wire

I think Avery might be traded... there were rumors and he's not done anything noteworthy here.

PS Additions: Hard to say... lots of newly acquired cuts, I think.  Just not a lot of depth in the back 7 and they need to churn it and hope to find an Al Harris.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Fulgham was the worst WR on the roster in training camp.  If the new staff doesn't fall in love with 3 weeks of game logs from 2020, he'll probably be the one to go.

I was never sold on Fulgham even last year during his magical 4 game run or whatever it was.  I always noticed it seemed like he couldn't catch the ball clean on a consistent basis.  He'd make catches but he'd bobble the ball too much before securing it.

Ward is small and slow, but stands in the right place and catches the football from 3 yards out.

I guess you were just trying to be funny here, but this is pretty unfair...  he's pretty quick in space, has excellent hands, and is a very precise rout-runner...  i.e., a very good slot receiver...

Looking at the snap counts, Stoll played 82% of offense and 88% of ST snaps. I’d rather keep him over Rodgers, who hasn’t stood out at all

Neither JJAW/Fulgham are good. Keep the player you can maybe flip.

Seems a contradiction there.   If neither is good, why would a team give you anything in return?

That's the first time I've heard anyone call Ward quick.

Not following this logic.

Your mistake was trying to find any logic there.

Ward is one of the most inefficient WRs in NFL history.  He accumulates catches by standing short of the 1st down marker on underneath routes and just scooping up check-downs that should not have been checked down.  That's what our offense was last year.

He's a safety blanket for the coaches because he runs the right route and has reliable hands (last night doesn't change that).

If you are going to force the ball to someone who can't get open, in coverage, beyond the first down marker, I'd probably take JJAW on that play instead of Ward.  Again, I hate that I'm in the position of arguing on behalf of JJAW here.  Just splitting the hairs of failure.

Well, I don't want to pull out the old "I have no idea what games you're watching" line, so I just won't say anything...

I think its the bolded... and he's cheap... and a fairly known quantity.   Plus, the speculation about moving on from Hurts, he can be the starter or the backup for the new QB acquired.

I don't think it's a bad trade at all really... I'm ok with it. He's a ok back up and we haven't had much luck finding that in the draft. Could start in a pinch. Seems to be an ok guy... Eh, I'm fine with it.

Well, I used the term "pretty quick in space", but you cherry pick-it however you think best supports your point...

Career 8.3 yards per reception.

Miles Sanders, running back, blasted lately for being a negative in the passing game, career 9.1 yards per reception.

Brent Celek, blocking TE in his last year in the NFL, more yards per reception than Greg Ward last year.

Rodgers doesnt stand out, but when healthy he is just steady and reliable. Hes a guy that annoys me to keep bringing back, and yet, hes also hard to improve on for a 3rd TE.

On one hand it would be nice to have some young player with upside instead. But whenever Rodgers is needed, he is solid.

Hey now... you respect Celek.

If you guys are bored @Bacarty2 is over in the Minshew thread embarrassing himself.

He's a slot receiver who's job it is to move the chains...  god forbid he should run the routes he's assigned...

He is the Greg Ward of the TE group

Exactly this. The ball never seemed to hit his hands cleanly. I was hopeful for awhile that he was going to be something special, but his downward spiral since then, coupled with the fact that two other teams already released him, suggests that there's something wrong there that fans don't see. Eh, it's not like the Eagles invested any draft capital in him.

So is Hurts now #2 on the swag depth chart ??

Ward is overvalued by many here.  The fact that he was the team's receptions leader last year says much more about the pathetic state of the receivers last year than it does his value.   Remember, Fulgham was the leading yards leader and he only started half a dozen games.   Just a pathetic franchise when it comes to WRs over the past few years.  I like a feel good story as much as the next guy, but this team needs to move beyond the likes of Greg Ward and Travis Fulgham to truly compete in the NFL.

The only WRs that should be safe are Smith and Reagor.  Watkins showed something, so he gets a nod.  Hightower has speed, and got some DPI calls last year, if he can work on his hands, he might be a decent #4.  Fulgham and Ward are what they are.  And those last few WR positions should be churned with WRs that can actually play ST and might have some upside.   Find me some 6'+ 200lb+ Wrs with speed on the waiver wire that can cover punts and kickoffs, and maybe contribute on offense a little and let's see what they have.  Fulgham and Ward can make it through waivers and go to the PS, in case of emergency.

I hated the JJAW selection more than anyone.  It sent me off the deep end.

But of the current WRs...if Smith/Reagor/Watkins were not available, I'd probably put JJAW on the field over Ward, Hightower, and Fulgham.

And that’s why you’re an arm chair GM/coach. JJAW offers nothing.

Well, I'm selecting amongst crap WRs to be on the roster because the current GM SHOULD be an arm chair GM.  Sifting amongst his trash, not mine.

Is Minshew the best QB on the Eagles?

He is only two years older than is Hurts.
