Meh, 2 or 3 quarters of meaningless football running base offense after not playing for like 10 months wasn't going to change the outcome

Agreed.  Eagles crush the Falcons and Flacco gets to hone his craft for th 4th qtr.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Catching up from the past couple of days, and saw the talk about Dillard to the Colts. I could see Le’Raven Clark get traded there for some CB or LB who won’t make the team. They just need a stopgap to hold onto the spot until Fisher is ready, and Clark played under Reich.

Even though , no I dont think it changes the overall outcome, I think it is just as important if not more important that the 2 or 3 Qs of preseason play was needed for the Oline to get on the same page. We see it every year that the Oline plays like dog crap the first 2 or 3 games cause they are not in sync. the QB is running for his life, getting sacks, under pressure throwing bad balls etc. With them playing even a min 1Q per preseason game it helps them get that sync quicker. That to me is the most important positions in preseason since their play can directly effect the Qb and his life span.

I would normally agree, but for the Eagles 4/5 of the line has years playing together.

Smart idea. We got Clark for cheap because he tore his achilles last year. He was always someone who would be an injury risk, but since he's playing it should be less concerning for other teams.

We have a new coach, a new scheme and a QB with 4 career starts.  Matt Ryan our week 1 opponent who also has not played in the preseason has 201 more career starts than Hurts.

But the rest of the Falcons starters haven't hardly played if at all during preseason as well.

Eagles luck out with week 1 after this camp cupcake approach. Falcons will be dealing with as much rust and stamina issues as the Eagles.

Okay so has anyone decided to keep weekly score predictions for us? @Connecticut Eagle I thought you did it once?

It’s basically the new school coaches like McVay, Judge, Smith, Roseman and Campbell sitting starters vs the old school coaches like Reid, Rivera, McDermott and Arians playing starters.

The Giants played most of their starters for 2 quarters against the Patriots.

Minshew Mania is runnin wild

I think it could be more about how bad the Giants look.  The Giants' o-line is terrible.  Daniel Jones looks terrible. If I was a Giants fan I would be concerned.  They wasted their first round pick on a receiver and should have gone o-line.  I don't think they're better than the Eagles at this point.

Stamina isn't the issue with resting the starters.  It's simply timing.  The best thing about the matchup is that the Falcons have a terrible defense.  I think the game is going to be close. I don't think the Eagles will be able to shut down the Falcons on offense.  If the Eagles win it will be because they control the clock with the ground game and maybe force a turnover.

I kind of hope they pick up Breshad Perriman.  He has size and speed and is only 27.

No, stamina is an issue.  We run some of the shortest if not the shortest practices in the league at just 60-70 minutes per practice. These aren't Chip Kelly style quick practices either of constant action and movement the whole time with any teaching done later in the film room.

We saw it in that second preseason game with Alex Singleton tapping out in the second quarter absolutely gassed.

Stamina, timing and tackling are all going to be early season issues for the Eagles.

So you think if he had played 2 quarters of an NFL game where he's maybe running for a total of 5 minutes would help his stamina? I mean games have about 11 minutes of action in total.  Players get winded on individual plays but stamina recovery and stamina isn't impacted by NFL games.

That's just flat out false.

I'm not sure what you're saying is false but I think you have some underlying bias that football is all action.  While I do think it takes some endurance to be ready to play most of a game there is very little running or action vs. standing around.  The 11 minutes of action is pretty well documented.  https://deadspin.com/theres-not-much-football-in-your-football-5449357  It's pretty well documented that most of a game isn't game play.  I mean you can watch a condensed game within 30 minutes. So even if you think the actual time where endurance is a factor is more like 15 minutes for a starter, that's likely less than 1/2 the time he's working on stamina in practice.

This is sacrilege.  Everyone knows that Napoleon is greater than Uncle Rico.

Well that’s a no brainer.

The real argument could be is Minshew better than Hurts?  Two different style of quarterbacks but he produced when he started in Jacksonville.

I'm telling you is false that stamina is not going to be an issue over the course of the game early in the season.  You act like players never get gassed over the course of a game. These are not conditioned to play a full game based on how lightly and a shortly they have practiced this summer.

Idk uncle Rico can throw a football over them mountains

YAY!  Prediction.  Both are here for 2021, neither are here in 2022.  Howie overplayed his cards with Ertz and DG doesn't want to be the first of the next line of big tight end pay days betting that he can hit it big in FA.

Finally someone who can compete with Derek Carr imploding stadiums.
