@ JR

At long last, I have had time to read Battle Cry of Freedom. I very much enjoyed it. Thanks for the recommendation.

It will difficult for me to keep a straight face when people proclaim to me that, at present,  the country has never been so polarized.

P.S. - W. B. Forrest  and W. Quantrill were truly odious characters.

Glad you liked. For me it’s the best one-volume history of the war.

Polarization? Preston Brooks beat Charles Sumner half to death on the Senate floor. Some of the, um, visitors on Jan 6 might have contemplated that but so far none of our elected officials have gone that far.

There’s a special inner ring of hell for Forrest, a slave trader before the war, butcher of Fort Pillow during it, and Grand Wizard of the KKK after it.

The pedant in me wishes to point out that his first name was Nathan, I think. Or so my pedant thinks.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Feel free to tell him to go F himself. He’s on my Ignore list and I won’t respond to him directly. If you hadn’t quoted him I’d never have known. Somehow I will survive.

Sounds like he's not there yet but close-ish.  I'm guessing by the sweat soaked jersey on Dickerson, he has some getting in to playing shape to get in to.

Is a 6-6 center a good thing? Maybe it's just because we've had Kelce for so long but I like the idea of a smaller, more agile, quick center rather than a road grader.  I also just love the idea of 6-8 Mailata and 6-6 Dickerson on the left side.  Center (post-Kelce) could be Seumalo, if he's actually good there, Herbig or a guy not on the roster.

The good thing is that it appears that the backups are all being cross-trained and should be in good hands as the 3 veterans move on.

Good question about a 6’6” center.  We will see how he does.  But we know his pedigree.   Is he a Warmack or a Nelson at C.  I think that is why my reaction to starting Dickerson and trading Seumalo was "whoa Nelly” (with apologies to,Gabby Hayes).   Too early.  And if Seumalo ever does get benched, he is instantly our 6th OL.

Well thankfully all of that violent discourse and rhetoric that drove Brooks to attack Sumner in 1856  didn't end in any kind lengthy violent war where hundreds of thousands of people were killed.

We also have to keep in mind that if Dickerson is at center and they continue to have him be a "move" center where he's pulling and such, that's going to put A LOT more pressure on his knees and ankles.  Now of course he's going to be pulling a lot at LG too, but the amount of torque a center puts on his knees to snap and pull is much more than pulling from the guard position.  I say this from playing both positions and I can tell you...pulling from center is not the same as pulling from guard.   If they keep Dickerson at center, they would probably have to change the blocking schemes and what to expect from the position.

No. But if you do I will feel free to tickle him. Unless, of course he has me on Ignore.

The good thing is that it appears that the backups are all being cross-trained and should be in good hands as the 3 veterans move on.

The last big center the eagles had was Jamal Jackson at about 6'4" 330 lbs.

Kelce is unique in the things he can do, he's almost a lead FB when he pulls out which is great and he doesn't really have the size or strength to move people off the ball at the point like Dickerson possibly could, 6'6" does seem tall for a center but he wouldn't be the first center at that height, guess we'll see, I'd rather have him at Guard and move seumalo over to Center as he more of a move guy as well and doesn't push guys off the ball.

Driscoll can also play Center though doesn't seem eagles are cross training him there.

Then of course Herbig has been taking snaps at center but I think he's better at OG.

Hopefully after Kelce retires they figure Center out
