Overall, Howie's had a very good off-season. This doesn't excuse the disasters of the 2019/2020, but 2021 has been very good.

I would classify it as 'better'.  He's also spent a lot of this offseason pushing more money to 2022.  That's not good by any measure.  He also decided to draft an oft injured OL in the early 2nd Round... double dipping on the mistake he made with Sydney Jones a few years ago.  And he gave out these one year contracts to folks with dead money for next year, rather than just money for this year.   He's done 'better', but that's not hard when you've spent the last 3 years spiking yourself.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

When the toys you have at home are of the JJAW level, you'd take anyone's discarded toy in a heartbeat.

JJAW is obviously a focal point of a lot of the criticism...  I get that...  he has certainly not lived up to anything approaching expectations... but, what appears obvious to me is that Moorehead & Sirianni think they see something to work with, and want to try and develop it...

That tweet took awhile to load so all I saw was your comment. I was excited for a minute, like a kid on Christmas morning waiting for his parents to get back from the thrift store

Damn you.

Do it Howie

The Sydney Jones Experience needs to be qualified a bit.

He suffered an Achilles before the draft after being deemed a consensus first rounder.  He basically red-shirted his rookie season in 2017.  He began the 2018 season as the starting nickel and looked pretty good for a few games.  You could make the argument at that point that the gamble was starting to pay off.

Then in October his hamstring legacy started.  His ability and desire both seemed to go downhill.  This was not related to the original Achilles nor was it evident while he was in college.

In my view, Jones' legacy isn't that the red-shirting failed, but rather he was more like a Victor Abiamiri.  A guy with promise who just couldn't stay healthy.

That’s a helluva PS get.

Only one out of the cuts I even wanted back

Yup he is the one guy I was hoping would make it back, glad he made it.

I didn't like the Dickerson pick, but he was going to be selected within the next 5 picks and it's clear looking around the league how few good OL there are. The hardest positions to find are OL and CB

That's a heck of a lot of undrafted players!

It was actually pretty cool aside from the 16 year old girl who didn’t know a lick about football. I feel like they should pick a 1pm game to do that with every week.

Here's the thing, though...  to start with, it's very obvious that they're looking long-term, i.e. to develop their younger guys rather than sign older, fill-in guys... next, they obviously are going thru a comparison with their younger guys compared to other teams released younger guys...  let's remember that all the guys becoming available are some team's cut players...  all of it is talent evaluation at this point, and none of it will be proven for a couple years...  they're not putting a team together to make a run at a Super Bowl this year...  again, it's all about expectations for the team in the next couple years...

I find most of the criticism at this point to be impatience...

Agreed.  Which is the exact thing I said a few posts before the one you posted.   The opportunity was here to kick the tires on young players that got caught in the numbers game with other teams.  Sure, they are the cut players, that's obvious.  But, this team is completely devoid of any kind of depth at CB, LB, S, and to a lesser extent RB.   But, rather than trying to find new blood and maybe take a chance on the diamond in the rough that might exist elsewhere, they are content to stick with their own cast-offs, and the ones that likely should have been castoff.

For example, JJAW is playing ST now.  Whoopity-do.  I'd rather put him on the PS and kick the tires on Antonio Gandy-Golden.  Big receiver, fast, athletic, very raw.  Granted, there's no guarantee, but I think we know what JJAW is at this point.  And if AGG doesn't work out after kicking the tires, then you put JJAW back on the roster and cut your losses.  Not a great likelihood of it making a difference.  But it would indicate that they aren't overly connected to JJAW due to his draft status.

They should be looking to find some young talent under every rock and in every crevice.  This is not a talented team.  I find it hard to believe that none of the cuts are viewed in their eyes as being a potential upgrade over what they have right now.  I find that hubris.

Backup QB is way more valuable than fourth string RB. That shouldn’t have to be explained.

I'm hoping Stoll is a keeper. I liked him in the pre-season.

And in this metaphor, the parents have decided that the garbage they decided not to throw away was better than what others did throw away.  I'd also add that some of these neighbors will go out to the 'recycling bin' (not trash can) and put some of them back on the shelf... and we'll see how many trinkets the Eagles find from others' recycling bins.

Surprised he didn’t stick in Cleveland.  I liked him and wanted him in this last draft.  He was ear marked for the top 2 rounds a few years ago until hw got hurt.  He also seemed to have a good reputation as a locker room guy.  I hope he sticks here.

Think he gets promoted from PS after we make IR moves at 4? We probably need another DT and Marvin>Marlon
