Seems like SF is starting to trend downwards.  Wasn't that long ago when Shanahan and Lynch could do no wrong.

If this keeps up, then Wentz will win Comeback Player of the Year.

Dak most likely.

Yeah, good point.

Chalk it up to the rain or whatever, but Wentz had a ton of turnover-worthy plays and got away with it. He was fortunate that the Niners DBs have absolutely no idea how to defend a deep ball. Wentz was bad.

No chance he beats Dak

Most of the Colts yardage were on PI and 49ers dropped at least 4 picks

Incorrect.

I remember saying they weren't a playoff team when the Eagles lost to them and being made fun of.  Good times.

I've thought Shanahan is a tad overrated.  What's this his 5th season and had 1 winning season?  You can blame injuries but after it keeps happening year after year then something is wrong there.

Just a couple years ago it seemed like every game was tough and there were no easy games.

This year there are alot of bad teams including us of course.

I think the Eagles schedule to this point has been easier than we realize.  The iterations of the Falcons, Panthers, 49ers that we played were flat out bad teams.  Even the Chiefs weren't great.

Dallas and Tampa are the 2 best we've seen.

Look how dis functional the Chiefs are this year, and they came in and beat the sheet out of the Eagles, nonchalantly, and chill.  Mahomes and Andy were yawning in the 3rd quarter.

I said this after last year and I’ll say it again that 2017 super bowl run covers up for a lot of dysfunction and mediocre organization the eagles have become since 2009 outside of 2017. Since the last year mcnabb was here the eagles are 104-94-1(includes his last year… without it they are 93-89-1). Without the biggest outlier being 2017, they are 91-91-1 and only a fluky playoff win on a double doink. They are tied for 12th in total wins over that span. About to be passed by the Vikings, chargers, cardinals by year’s end so going to be 15th which is straight middle of the pack and that includes the super bowl year. And over the last 10 seasons they are 15th at 83-83-1 which includes the big outlier of the SB year cause without that they are 70-80-1

I can name as many dysfunctional feuds and things that have occurred as much as playoff wins (4) over that time. Have the howie vs. banner/reid, howie vs. chip, howie vs. doug, howie vs. wentz, Riley cooper race comments, desean is in a gang, wentz leaked reports and i could continue to add more. Outside of 2017, much of the last 13 years this organization had more dysfunction then overall playoff success. The giants also won a super bowl the last decade the eagles are slowly morphing into what the giants have become after their super bowl win

The Eagles have lost 3 straight and 4 of the last 5 to the Lions — THE LIONS.  The Detroit Lions beating anybody 3 times in a row has to cause the Earth to stop rotating properly; it defies the physical laws of the universe.

Not that the Eagles are a good team, nor are they playing well — but the Lions are a perennial joke of a franchise.  It’s quite possible, if they beat the Eagles for a fourth consecutive time, that the cataclysmic effect on the physical universe will cause another mass extinction event and end life as we know it, so …..

Bold prediction — Hurts throws a TD pass from the pocket instead of the sandlot; Jake Elliott bounces a FG in off the upright

AR is one of the best "coaches with a plan" in modern NFL history.  Lurie gave him a HC job when he was only a QB coach.  Maybe it was luck, but it still remains the best decision Lurie ever made, to this day.  AR ran everything and put this franchise on the map.  He's the one that brought back winning.  Again, credit Lurie for bringing him here when he wasn't even one of the hot names.

Interestingly, AR's decline coincided well with Howie coming onto the scene and getting his hands on the drafts.  That power struggle, combined with AR family issues, combined with just too many years in one place without getting over the hump...doomed AR.

2017 was simply lightning in a bottle.  Not taking it away from them...that was a great team.  But Doug wasn't a great coach.  He was hired simply to be a player-friendly puppet.  Everything worked.  Their short-term veteran FA's all clicked.  Wentz had a fluke year that got them HFA and Foles came in as the fluke closer to seal the deal in the playoffs.  But they somehow had MVP level QB play all year long.

Unlike when AR was here, it is apparent that there is no plan.  We are just throwing crap against the wall in haphazard fashion and waiting to see what sticks.

Sad. This isn’t a complicated defense, and the Raiders aren’t stacked with defensive talent.

There are 10 games left in the NFL season and the Eagles are playing a game in October with N-O-T-H-I-N-G at stake for either team next week.  Seriously, there will be tier 2 high school games with more on the line next week.  The entire game will be a charade that might as well not even be played.

Just sad that we can't enjoy football right now.

Agreed with everything said. Just want to also add the "Lurie has a good track record with hiring head coaches” statement is a complete fallacy.

The blueprint has been out there. Make Hurts beat you.

They’re always looking for the Eagles next QB, without helping the one they have.  Kolb gets Hurt, Vick is in, then he gets hurt, draft Foles, he gets hurt, Vick back in, trade Foles for Bradford and tell him 2 weeks before the season starts that Wentz is starting the year not sitting, trade Bradford, Wentz gets hurt, Foles wins the SB. Wentz Hurt again, Foles plays well. Trade Foles, pay Wentz $130 million dollars, he stays healthy, 6 months later they draft Hurts instead of Chinn, and Reagor instead of Jefferson.

The LT they just paid a fortune, has been switching to RT, all the while limping on a bad knee.  Derek Barnett?  When was his last sack in 2019?

The further we get away from the SB, is just a reminder what a miracle that season really was, and now in Philadelphia of all places, we have the softest defensive coordinator in possibly the history of the NFL.

Nah, AR was behind the Dream Team, that was when it was obvious he was getting desperate to get a ring, then everything fell apart.

Chip Kelly had to be Lurie, b/c Howie's not stupid, he knew a HC like Kelly would scheme to control everything. His smart move was to concede gracefully and wait for Kelly to implode.

I think there was a plan behind the SB team, of course they didn't expect to win in 2017, but the FA acquisitions in 2016 were in their prime seasons, justifying the trade for Wentz who would mature into a top starting QB while the key players were in their late 20s. Once they won the SB, the temptation to keep the window open clouded their judgement. It's hard for an owner to accept a rebuild - look at the Flyers under Snider.

Now we're in a rebuild, I'm not going to pass judgement until the end of the season but I'd make these points, it's hard for Hurts (or Fields or Wilson or Lawrence) in a rebuild, the Eagle OL was pretty bad, I mean Hurts was trying to step up into the pocket - what pocket? Gannon can't be aggressive b/c he doesn't have the players to run that sort of scheme, he's not sending Dawkins etc. on blitzes - he'd be sending McLeod or Wilson. Good luck!  His safeties are slow or inexperienced (Epps). His LBs can't cover man to man for the most part. His DEs with Graham out can't play the outside run. This season is about player evaluation more than anything else. Reid inherited a lot more young talent in 1999 b/c they Eagles had sucked the last two years under Rhodes, Tra Thomas, Mayberry, Duce, Chad Lewis, Jefferson, Whiting, Hollis Thomas, Douglas, Trotter, Reese, Vincent, Taylor, Dawkins, Al Harris.

I saw nothing wrong with the on-sides kick, it wasn't like they were slowing down the Raiders between the 20s, so a field position battle made no sense, it just meant another minute off the clock before you get the ball back. You're down 17-7 on the road,, why not gamble?

Nothing is going to change things except adding more talent - fortunately, the Dolphins are cooperating, now we just have to hope Wentz holds up and the Cots end up out of the playoffs at 8-9. And for some TDL trades and pick up more draft picks.

True, but the Eagles O Line was bad today. Everyone was except Siposs.

I miss these days😢
