I said this after last year and I’ll say it again that 2017 super bowl run covers up for a lot of dysfunction and mediocre organization the eagles have become since 2009 outside of 2017. Since the last year mcnabb was here the eagles are 104-94-1(includes his last year… without it they are 93-89-1). Without the biggest outlier being 2017, they are 91-91-1 and only a fluky playoff win on a double doink. They are tied for 12th in total wins over that span. About to be passed by the Vikings, chargers, cardinals by year’s end so going to be 15th which is straight middle of the pack and that includes the super bowl year. And over the last 10 seasons they are 15th at 83-83-1 which includes the big outlier of the SB year cause without that they are 70-80-1

I can name as many dysfunctional feuds and things that have occurred as much as playoff wins (4) over that time. Have the howie vs. banner/reid, howie vs. chip, howie vs. doug, howie vs. wentz, Riley cooper race comments, desean is in a gang, wentz leaked reports and i could continue to add more. Outside of 2017, much of the last 13 years this organization had more dysfunction then overall playoff success. The giants also won a super bowl the last decade the eagles are slowly morphing into what the giants have become after their super bowl win

Say what you will about the Mcnabb and Wentz years, but going into any game any week with those 2 at QB, I always felt like we had a great chance to compete and win against anyone. That obviously didn’t always happen, but we were rarely getting blown out in the first half of games.

I don’t have that feeling anymore with Hurts behind centre. Going into almost any game, I’m almost expecting to be struggling offensively and playing from behind.

Dawk was just a different player. Look at his stance and posture in this picture compared to everyone else.

I know you disagree but benching Wentz was a huge mistake. We should have let him have his off year then come back swinging this year. He's playing well. Imagine him with Smith. Hurts may be the better person but he isn't the better QB

I do disagree because to my mind Wentz is not the answer and he showed that last year. He's a talented player but ultimately he's not the guy you want to lead your franchise and that will re-emerge in Indy.

Lurie needs to bring in a real GM, hand the keys over and let him do whatever. That will not happen any time soon fellas. Jeff is too involved with things and he's not going to just bow out now.

100% my friend 100%. Things are not going to get better until Howie is gone. This team is years away from having a bright future let alone competing.

I felt that way with mcnabb up until his last game against Dallas. I wanted them to destroy Dallas. But the week prior against Dallas felt like it was going to get ugly the following week and the end was definitely happening. I wasn’t against dealing mcnabb at that point cause i didn’t think he was capable of playing at a high enough level to get to a super bowl anymore and he finally had good weapons.

I thought wentz could be that but last year i think everything snowballed on him and the team. It was the perfect storm of the drafting of hurts, years of subpar drafting (putting it nicely), injuries, dysfunction between wentz/doug/howie, the pandemic and poor decisions over the course of many years

nah, with a good team around him he's a good quarterback. I would have loved to see what he could do with Smith. That said a scenario played out in my mind. Wentz wanted traded when Pederson was coach, Eagles fire Pederson. Siri comes in an attempt to keep Wentz, Wentz meets with him and goes......................................nope, just trade me, thanks.

Chalk it up to the rain or whatever, but Wentz had a ton of turnover-worthy plays and got away with it. He was fortunate that the Niners DBs have absolutely no idea how to defend a deep ball. Wentz was bad.

 sounds like sour grapes to me

Nah, AR was behind the Dream Team, that was when it was obvious he was getting desperate to get a ring, then everything fell apart.

Chip Kelly had to be Lurie, b/c Howie's not stupid, he knew a HC like Kelly would scheme to control everything. His smart move was to concede gracefully and wait for Kelly to implode.

I think there was a plan behind the SB team, of course they didn't expect to win in 2017, but the FA acquisitions in 2016 were in their prime seasons, justifying the trade for Wentz who would mature into a top starting QB while the key players were in their late 20s. Once they won the SB, the temptation to keep the window open clouded their judgement. It's hard for an owner to accept a rebuild - look at the Flyers under Snider.

Now we're in a rebuild, I'm not going to pass judgement until the end of the season but I'd make these points, it's hard for Hurts (or Fields or Wilson or Lawrence) in a rebuild, the Eagle OL was pretty bad, I mean Hurts was trying to step up into the pocket - what pocket? Gannon can't be aggressive b/c he doesn't have the players to run that sort of scheme, he's not sending Dawkins etc. on blitzes - he'd be sending McLeod or Wilson. Good luck!  His safeties are slow or inexperienced (Epps). His LBs can't cover man to man for the most part. His DEs with Graham out can't play the outside run. This season is about player evaluation more than anything else. Reid inherited a lot more young talent in 1999 b/c they Eagles had sucked the last two years under Rhodes, Tra Thomas, Mayberry, Duce, Chad Lewis, Jefferson, Whiting, Hollis Thomas, Douglas, Trotter, Reese, Vincent, Taylor, Dawkins, Al Harris.

I saw nothing wrong with the on-sides kick, it wasn't like they were slowing down the Raiders between the 20s, so a field position battle made no sense, it just meant another minute off the clock before you get the ball back. You're down 17-7 on the road,, why not gamble?

Nothing is going to change things except adding more talent - fortunately, the Dolphins are cooperating, now we just have to hope Wentz holds up and the Cots end up out of the playoffs at 8-9. And for some TDL trades and pick up more draft picks.

It’s incredible how you say so much yet nothing at all

Great points there bud. I mean look Siri didn't make a good first impression on us and I'm not sure he's done much to win his players over has he?

The 2012 team at the end of that season with rookie Nick Foles and a backup OLine had more of an identity than this team. It’s brutal to watch. Not going to win many football games with inferior coaching and QB play.

That being said, might as well trot Minshew out. Nothing to lose or gain keeping Hurts in.

Sad. This isn’t a complicated defense, and the Raiders aren’t stacked with defensive talent.

Yep. When there’s zero consideration of us actually committing to a running game, teams can sit 3 dbs deep and let Hurts flick it to his right all day long.

They can just sit back and wait for us to make mistakes that end our own drives (drops, stupid penalties, turnovers) because they know it's coming. There's nothing to fear with this offense. Unless you are an Eagles fan, that is.

For everyone saying bench Hurts for minshew (and I’m one of them) let me show you why that won’t happen right now and may never happen with Howie and Siri running the show.

Jalen Hurts stats: 1716 yards passing 10 TDs 4ints 89.5 passer rating.
66 rushing atts 361 yards rushing 5 TDs averaging 5.5 YPC.

As flawed as those numbers are Sirianni, Howie and the rest of the ass clowns running this team have something to point to and say things like " PROGRESS” or " it’s coming just wait!”

Can’t remember the last time I wanted a season to fast forward so sooon but with Howie and Lurie what do we really have to look forward too?

Teams have to love that he has become Checkdown Charlie with no hope of passing deep or in the middle of the field...and yesterday the fumbled snaps came back.

I still want Hurts on our team...as a backup QB. He's just not a starter. We all knew that was a possibility.

The defense being this bad? That is the biggest disappointment IMO.

I don't want him as a back-up either. He doesn't win games a back-up has to be able to do that

Nope. Did you watch the game or just google some highlights?

Exactly.  Some people in here are so desperate to save face.

Save face about what? I didn’t want him traded.

@LeanMeanGM

Lions - 30

Eagles - 24

Jalen Hurts contributes more yards and points in the 4th quarter than the other 3 combined.

@LeanMeanGM

Eagles 20

Lions 17

Bonus- Hurts continues to suck and records an "Hurts special" snap fumble

I saw the 'highlight' of his fumbled snap.  He hit square in the hands.

Subtract his 4th quarter stats. Those numbers drop
