I'd probably trade 2/3 for Wilson.

We just cut Wilson.  Texans picked him up.

they didn’t take a 2.2 mil dead money hit. So could’ve been in worse position.

We are taking the hit unless i'm missing something. We gave him $1.75M signing bonus that stays with us. Then we already paid almost half his base salary of $1M. The only thing they get should be the other half of the base salary.

Hypothetically, say it's draft night 2022 and the Eagles 3 first round picks, wherever they fall are in spots where Thibodeaux and Stingley aren't available, they've already been taken. I'm picking those names, because they seem to be the most popular targets among Eagles fans. And these are your options. What are you picking

1. Stand pat and take best available with all 3 picks and go into 2022 with Hurts again.

2. Trade at least 2 of them for Russell Wilson

3. Trade down with at least 2 of them for 2023 first picks hoping 2023 has a better QB class and go into 2022 with Hurts.

What option are you picking?

Going into 2022 with Hurts is a non-starter for Lowie. It's either a trade for Wilson or we are using a high first to draft Pickett/Ridder.

I think if he didn’t get claimed they’d have the whole 2.2 dead money hit. It’s only partially now. Either way it’s another lb signing that wound up being awful

Right, it's that 2.2 minus half his base salary. He just phrased it in an odd way that made it sound like they freed up $2.2 but since corrected himself.

That was a close one, I almost went at him my excel spreadsheets and calculator.

I think they might have saved $500k.

1.  BPA If Hamilton, Leal and Hutchinson/Karlaftis are on the board.  You'd have a premium safety, DT, and DE.  Currently the Eagles are sitting 3, 8, and 9.  I'd want them to pick BPA at #3 then evaluate options with #8 and #9 -- see if there are any trade downs for future 1st round picks (from bad or declining teams) available

That's what I came up with.

does that get us about 3 crappy PS linebackers?

Eagles saving any cap space for Wilson is a W. No complaints. We're going to be tight against the cap again.

Birds have the most dead cap this year and as of now have the 2nd highest for next year. Thanks for those amazing contracts, Howie.

The $20mm they have now, does that get rolled over to next year?

No complaints about it... beyond the complaints about the wasted money they already dumped into him.  But, at the same time, Howie will get no praise for dumping Wilson and the Texans being stupid enough to claim him.

For all you fans of QB's named Carson.

Oof, garbage game tonight.

Will at least be interesting to watch Wentz.

Would roll with Hurts/Minishew next year, as painful as that might be, if it means an impactful draft haul like this:

I mean Burton and Claypool are unique and very talented.  I am not sure you can rank these musicians in different genres. Of course Claypool, was auditioned for Metallica but was rejected.  I think if you go by genre Burton was certainly a pioneering thrash metal bassist and Claypool is the same for funk metal.  Could you say the same about Geddy Lee for progressive rock? I think probably.   I think if I was making a list I would think Mike Watt  for punk. Joe Lally for alternative, Darryl Jennifer for hardcore, Entwhistle for rock.

I want to say yes but with this team's cap and talent I think we should say no.

Maybe I missed the context that we were talking the rock/classics world?  Could be, I skipped a lot of posts today obviously haha.

IRT to Claypool though I can't think of another example where the bass is the primary focus of the band like in Primus.  Claypool with a bass is like 100x Frampton making a guitar talk.  The stuff he does is unreal IMO that's why I mentioned him.  He's at least probably one of the most underrated despite the cult revere he does hold.

Personal preference by genre below.

Punk - Simonon (the Clash)

Alternative - Flea (outside of RHCP he's played/toured with Mars Volta, Circle Jerks, Janes Addiction, Fear to name a few), I won't disagree with Lally if you lump Fugazi into the alternative realm.

Hardcore - Nate Newton (Converge)

Rock - Cody Murchy (Minus the Bear, but I'm partial because I absolutely love them and Knudson of that band...and Botch... is one of the most underappreciated guitarists ever IMO)

IDK where to slot these honorable mentions

Pascal Humbert (16 Horsepower)

Caleb Scofield (Cave-In)

Orion Wainer (Constants)

ANY BASSIST from Mars Volta

After reading all that, I can't work out if the AR-15 is a type of bass guitar or the Federalist Society are a 1970s Prog Rock band who had a song called The Constitution from their album 2nd Amendment.

Carry on

That’s me, but I’m not sure why the writer had to make fun of his functional athleticism, he doesn’t really have any….  Well TBF, he moves around the pocket as the pressure dictates, it’s the knee surgery from high school and the two clean out surgeries afterwards that are gonna be his biggest question. His arm is up there with Herbert’s, and he’s 6’4” so if the Eagles want to move Dickerson to C, he can at least see over him, lol.
