I didn’t really understand their gameplan of trying to force feed Hollywood Brown on the perimeter with quick short passes. I thought they should’ve had Bateman or Andrews in the middle of the field and just kept doing it all night. those guys had a combined 14 target and caught 12 passes. And were effective when the ravens decided to go to them later in the game and that’s when they actually moved the ball. Whereas Hollywood Brown had 13 targets alone and had 6 receptions and 37 yards. It felt like the ravens were just hoping that brown would eventually bust one. I thought Andrews could’ve had a monster day if they just kept targeting him.

I had been struggling all year in my big money fantasy league at TE....finally able to make a trade for Andrews just before the trade deadline. So happy with him after just one week, and that was without Lamar. Was given the choice between Andrews or Waller, and I think Andrews this year is the easy choice.

Here's the play in question. Where exactly are you suggesting he throw it? AFTER he gets behind the LB?? The LB would either jump or just reach up and knock it down? I could see maybe an argument to throw it immediately after the picks, but then again, you'd run Smith directly into that LB.

I think he’s chosen to die on that hill. I’ll leave him to it.

Chalking that up to short staff on a holiday week.

That doesn't explain why it's been so slow all year.

I don't know what you are seeing but if he throws as Smith is making his cut the LB is still 6 yards out of the play in the middle of the field, the pick has worked and Lattimore is also yards away.  It was a West Coast slant pattern with a pick executed so perfectly that when Smith cuts he is wide open.  Hurts waits too long then has to wait more for Smith to clear the LB.  Here is the key to the play: watch Hurts's drop.  He needs to step, plant throw, instead he just kinda hops back a couple more times and as he throws he has 2 defenders closing in.  Get snap, one step back, plant, throw.  Smith is so wide open when he is supposed to be.  Glad the play made yards but 7 out of 10 times if Hurts does that it is incomplete or worse.  7 out of 10 if he throws on time Smith is streaking down the middle of the field.

Solak as clueless as ever. In a few wins he changes his tune. That‘s how it goes with these guys that base their observations on stats and stats alone.

The Raiders feel like they’re on the verge of an implosion. Their offense has been bad the last 3 weeks since the ruggs incident. Only averaging 15 ppg.  They also have a bunch of turnovers. The one thing I love about Waller is you know he’s always going to get targets. but Mark Andrews gets you that and in a better offense.

In fairness, it's also the same defense that let Hurts run 18 times for 106 yards in his first career start.  Preparation wasn't their strong suit in either game.

Other teams will be more prepared.

They came into that game on a ten game streak of not allowing anyone to run for 100 yards. They just can‘t handle us, but they are a good defense. It‘s laughable you try to diminish that.

Yes, adding more context to QB play is a bad thing. Let’s keep things dumbed down.

But does it add context?   Basically 95% of the "stats” are subjective as it is.   Seems like that adds a degree of PFF to the mix.  Let’s take a ball that bounces off the WR’s hands.  Right now, that shows against the QB.  Is it a drop?  Or did the QB place it poorly, get a poor spin on the ball or throw it too hard.  The DB makes a dive but can’t handle it a few inches off the ground or has to contort to try and catch it?  How is that scored.  Smith and Goedert have made contested catches in the last few weeks where the Defender got a hand on the ball. Are those turnover worthy plays?  I am not sure the stat adds context or results in yet another stat where context in what actually happened is needed to truly see.  IMHO, stats by themselves can dumb things down.

freeze it at :03, it's where Hurts finishes his drop.  If he hits Smith there he's gone

So true and really the ball should already be in Smith's hands at this point.  Hurts isn't even ready to throw yet.

Yeah - the transitioning was too much to handle. Watching ice road truckers 1 minute then is watching the bachelor the next…

I'm not diminishing anything.  It was clear last season they weren't prepared for a running QB in his first start to run 18 times, and it was clear this past Sunday they never adjusted to the Eagles RBs running between the tackles.

The NFL catches up fast.  The Eagles will ride the run game as long as it's working; it will be interesting what happens when it gets slowed down.  If the Eagles can throw off of the run to adjust what defenses will surely now game plan for then they'll keep winning.

No stat is perfect. But you’re kidding yourself if you don’t think stats like turnover worthy plays can help paint a clearer picture of how a QB played. You can’t and won’t convince me otherwise.

Except Hurts has a looping motion when he throws. The second he winds up there, the LB will begin to move towards Smith. There's a chance that a laser throw from Hurts gets to Smith and let's him turn upfield, but it also puts Smith in a bad position to get rocked by the LB. Hurts decision to hold and wait was perfectly fine.

IMO our run game is diverse enough to sustain for a while longer.  I do agree, however, if defenses just sell out against the run (as opposed to figuring out the scheme), we'll need to see how Nick and Hurts react and adjust.

Sounds cool.   I’m not a fan of tomato juice.  But I applaud the effort

I’ve smoked tomatos before for marinara & salsa, It usually comes out really good. But Yeah I’m not really crazy on bloody Marys, it’s very low on my list of something I’d order at a bar. But I’ve gotta say I like the idea behind this, not sure if it’ll work out good but I like the idea

yes the decision to wait was "fine."  But the best decision was to release it earlier.  The screenshot I posted is after he has finished his drop and taken one hop step up, he had plenty of time to throw it 15 yards

For what it’s worth, Cosell thought he shouldn’t have thrown the slant and wasn’t sure why he hesitated.
