I know espn and yahoo both do a pick ‘‘em thing for it. Would likely need someone to set up a PayPal or Venmo to have people throw down into.

I remember 3. Almost positive one was against the Lions. The other was maybe Raiders?

I think there was one against New Orleans or Denver too.

This is kind of the thinking I’ve been under that howie and lurie will have. And why they’d be aggressive in those market. I also don’t think it’s out of the question to convince Wilson (and less extent watson) that this offensive line is a top 10 offensive line in the league next year so they’re going to be protected. Plus you can sell them on the fact you have some nice young weapons Dallas goedert, Devonta Smith and miles Sanders/gainwell for next year. Plus you can still add some talent around them the next couple of years. If i were howie and lurie and hellbent on getting one of them that would be my selling point along with look what we did this year (I’m guessing they win 8/9 games) without a QB of your caliber.

Yep. And I'm not happy to be on the same wavelength as Lowie.....but either Wilson or Watson dramatically improves this team. Moreso than any other addition we can make, really. It all comes down to cost for me. If they can get either one without completely mortgaging the future, then just do it.

I am surprised a certain degenerate gambling poster has not jumped into this convo yet.

In the trade department, I'm out on Wilson.  He is what he is at this point.  While he has good football IQ and a very good arm, his game is a lot like Hurts.  Bail and create.  At his age he is what he is, he's not magically going to sit in the pocket because he's got a good OL for the first time in 6 years.  I honestly think he's a huge part of the equation in Seattle's struggles recently on O.

Dont even compare arm talent.

If you think Minshew has the same "arm talent" as Hurts you're only talking about arm strength and nothing else

Minshew is more accurate, had better touch, throws a better ball overall, and demonstrated more arm angles yesterday than Hurts has used in his entire life

We'll never run screen passes so well with Hurts, ever.  And Minshew was hitting the flats in stride, they guy was damn near perfect yesterday.

Yeah, but both of these guys are developmental.  They both have a lot of room to grow.

Why to stick with Jalen: You can't teach the mobility Jalen has, but maybe you can teach him how to throw the ball to the left side of the field.

Why to stick with Minshew: He's a better passer right now, but he needs to develop arm strength.

Dak has exceeded expectations for sure, but he's not cemented himself as the best...just yet.  I don't see his body lasting more than about 2 years at this point though.

Looking more and more like we're going to have 3 mid-round 1st round picks.  3 Derek Barnett type picks.  I will say this.  I'm 100% anti trading 1st round picks for a veteran QB.  The sting would hurt less the worse these picks get however.  Still, in no way do I want to part with them.

If the season ended today, the Eagles would have picks 12, 13 and 17.

If they end up here should be able to get a CB, LB, and maybe DL that would all be upgrades to the roster.  No chance they go all D, but could also get OL or perhaps a QB.  But for sure will miss out on the top end talent of the draft.

Minshew opens up entire sections of the playbook that Hurts cant run.  Its not even close to a debate to me.  Minshew should be the placeholder and Hurts the backup

Sure he is the best in that class , if he isn’t who is ?

For the Minshew does not have arm strength crowd,  look at the Minshew throw at the 5:30 mark of this video.  Looks like he is going deep up the sideline as he is winding up to move the safety, then throws an absolute dart right up the hash marks.

Also look at the next two throws, he has already diagnosed what the defense is doing, drop, plant, ball is out quickly.  Pre snap Minshew is light years ahead of Hurts.

It's between Wentz and him at this point.  Both have had MVP caliber seasons that resulted in season ending injury.  Both still have to prove themselves in the playoffs as well.

That first TD to Goedert is a prime example of the stark contrast between Minshew and Hurts:

Is it a perfect spiral on a rope?  Nope.  But it was on time and on target = Touchdown.

If you noticed, he drifted to the left because he knew Goedert would be wide open--presnap recognition that Hurts doesnt have.

He throws the ball before Goedert is open---anticipation that Hurts doesnt have

He drops the ball into the bucket between defenders---accuracy and touch that Hurts doesnt have

There is zero chance Hurts makes that throw.   He wouldnt have even know to make the throw before the window closed.

Maybe he scrambes for a short gain, maybe he finds another guy eventually breaking free, but he wouldnt have scored a TD on that play and Im absolutely certain of that.

Hurts will never have this stat line

I would submit that pass chart is more due to the scheme than Minshew.  They were still mostly running an O tailored to Hurts because for the 1st part of the week they were getting equal snaps with the 1s.  You really think Siri was going to install a totally new O in just 2-3 days time?  Minshew was operating under a playbook designed for Hurts.  Still, the passing game was more efficient than it has been with Hurts with the excepetion of the 1st half vs DEN.  Minshew came in cold, or at least cool, and a bit rusty.  He was good, not great, but gave us a glimpse what the O could look like with a QB who makes quick reads and hangs in the pocket.

That's the thing some don't understand is that it's not directly about Hurts v Minshew.  It's about Hurts v what could be.  Most agree Minshew isn't a long term answer to QB, but he is a very good capable backup and temporary caretaker.  Siri tried his O to start the season and had to simplify it to something more manageable for Hurts.  That is the issue.

Siri has said Hurts is the starter and will play.  He should be good to go vs the Wankers since they have a bye week.  It will be interesting to see how Hurts plays after the way the O performed vs the Jets, especially in the passing game.  It should be a fair comparison as the Jets and Wankers rank similar in pass D:

ranking                     NYJ     WFT

pass yds/gm           29th     30th

QBR against            32nd    31st

YPA against            32nd    24th

This is a game vs a team you HAVE to beat if you want to make the playoffs.  He needs to perform well here.

To be honest if Watson didn’t have the issues off the field and was actually willing to come here that’s the guy I think they ultimately would want. Because he’s only 27 so he has at least a decade left in the league (assuming he’s not in prison) and you could still build up the defense over the next couple years with the cap dramatically increasing in 2023 and 2024.

The biggest issue is really in 2022 where your defense is likely going to still be below average due to cap restrictions and losing some if not all those firsts. but your offense has shown it’s got nice weapons in smith, goedert and sanders (when healthy) and a top 10 oline going forward into next year. so adding that QB of either of those caliber should increase the ceiling for the offense and what sirianni is capable of doing. When the salary cap goes up dramatically in 2023 and 2024 you ideally should have money to spend to add pieces. Plus if you don’t give away capital in the 2023 and 2024 drafts you can still add pieces to your defense over the next couple years while your offense could be really dangerous with Deshaun Watson or Russell Wilson.

All that said, i don’t think they are able to acquire either one. But i think they’d go all in on trying.

I bet Goedert is a Minshew guy. Career day.

Hurts needs to be taught the following:

- Stepping up into the pocket

- Throwing fundamentals

- Reading the field

- Leading a receiver

- Pre Snap reads

He is not a starting pro QB.  The sooner people realize that the better.  My Guess?  They both stick around.  We trade one of the 1st to a team for a package that includes a later 2022 pick and a 2023 1st and hope to have the equity get our long term QB in that draft.  Because the 2022 draft doesn't have THE GUY.

This is where I'm torn, even Stevie Wonder can see he's not the answer.

1. Do I want to watch entertaining football from the Eagles with Minshew starting? Yes.

2. Do I want better draft position, playin Hurts to tank, so I can have sustained entertaining football from the Eagles in the future? Yes

3. This goes back to yesterday, do I want the Eagles to make the playoffs?  HELL NO, all that does is inflate Lowie's head that we are heading in the right direction with the Hurts being late on his rent.

Hurts was benched yesterday by the FO (I hate that BTW) so they can evaluate Nick Sirianni and his "scheme"/offense with a QB who can complete passes all over the field.  I won't be convinced otherwise.  Why they decided to de-activate him is beyond me.  Maybe to try and mask the real reason?  But it's ridiculous to say he was physically unable to play.

Interesting piece in all this... they were literally going back to the place that he had ished the bed the previous Sunday.  I wonder how much going back to the scene of the crime played in this decision.   Likely not much, but it is weird that they were going back on the road to the exact same stadium as the week before.

Minshew is 25

Hurts is 23

The one he throws at the stadium wall after he runs for the TD?
