He’s not in love with Hurts.  Once the Eagles move on from Hurts, we’ll hear nothing but how the offense will be upgraded simply by having the new qb in there.

Yup.  AFan is in love with Howie.   He will defend everything and anything Howie does.

#1 reason I want a trade for Watson, Wilson or Rodgers is to see how @austinfan tries to spin it.

Random musing, but I would really hate being a CFB coach.  It's a nice gig for the select few who break through into a self-sustaining ecosystem of 5 star recruits perennial stability.  It's also nice in theory for building character, having a positive life impact for 18-22 year olds, and molding them into a cohesive winning machine.

But in reality...success or failure really revolves around the aggressive, ethically shady, and exhausting business of recruiting.  Not in a creative scheme, not in being the best coach.  Those things help, but a great coaching job isn't going to allow you to compete with a top SEC team.  It's hard to create parity in a CFB landscape, but it's really bad lately.

I honestly don't get it.  Why are people so sure that Minshew is what he is and that Hurts only will get better.  Also, like you said, what are the next 4 games going to show us?  Is Hurts going to magically change his game? I don't see it happening.

I want to see Nick Sirianni's offense working at it's full potential, NOT reduced down to a running offense just so Hurts plays well.

I want Smith, Watkins, Goedert, Gainwell and Sanders getting as many options in the passing game as possible.  That won't happen with Hurts.

I don't get it either.

Heard so many talking heads say Minshew Is no more than a backup and hurts needs more time to develop.

Why isn't Minshew getting the same benefit of doubt ???

He's obviously further along as a passer than hurts, he's more accurate better from the pocket and has a stronger arm, hurts is a better running back than Minshew 🤷‍♂️

If we're going to go into Intangibles like leadership preparation swag Minshew has all those in spades as well.

I just don't get the narrative that Minshew is an obvious backup and Hurts is still developing???🤔

According to the Philly beat, Minshew is a goofy guy with a mustache who says dude a lot.  That's not a leader, just a fun guy to have in the locker room.  A leader uses every sports movie cliché' in the book and says things like rents due.

The Jalen Hurts leader bit is a mercilessly beaten down cliche.  The dude is 23, seems like a nice guy, and is popular in the locker room.

Everything else is a reach to push the narrative.

I actually find it pretty funny/ironic how it's perfectly OK to point out and in a sense poke fun at Minshew's physical appearance, the way he talks and dresses.

Why do I have people I don’t follow on my Twitter feed calling me crazy?

I still like Matt Corral in the draft.  Knowing the Eagles aren't looking at 3 top 10 picks, they won't be in position to nab one of the top defensive playmakers in the draft.  I think Corral can be had in the middle of the 1st.  In a sense he's the perfect combination of Hurts and Minshew.  He's got a great arm but isn't afraid to tuck it and run when needed....when needed being the key term.  His size worries me a bit.  He's listed at 6-2 205 so realistically he's probably in the 6-1 200 range.  Not sure that's ideal but I love the way he plays, his competitive nature and think he could be worth a 1st round investment.

I don't get why the media feel the need to excuse hurts and prop him up and not give Minshew the time of day.

What do media heads have to gain by slurping hurts? It's not like they drafted him or put in work to develop him or get a bonus if he gets a new contract, I just don't get the unsolicited and unwavering support for hurts when one has nothing to gain from it, other than maybe saying, I told you so.

Yeah, I don’t know - can’t we get Mariota for $3M/year. I guess I have QB fatigue.

So it’s OK to say Minshew has mad swag

Are people really trying to talk themselves into a 1st Rd Quarterback now? Good Lord.

Do you think he can be had for that price?  I wouldn't mind him as a stop gap QB.  I haven't watched much of him at all post-Titans career.

If we're looking at stop-gap guys, I'd try to find a way to get Drew Lock away from the Broncos.  I think he still has potential but at the very least can get us to the next QB.

For the "they're still trying to figure out how to pass protect" crowd:

I know he’s on a 1-year deal for like $3.5M, I’m not sure he has had much opportunity to increase his value.

Ahahahaha.  This Different Strokes live studio audience show is hilarious. The commercials with Carlton are great.    Kevin Hart as Arnold.  Was my favorite show as a kid.

The series is on Amazon Prime. I watched it again for the first time in many years about a year ago.

More & more I get the feeling the Eagles are.

They want someone who reads coverage & gets the ball out like Minshew but with the arm strength to stretch defenses.

That's currently not available on this roster.

My hope is that they draft somebody to compete without blowing all 3 first rounders at this point.

Just no to a Wilson or Watson.  Price too high and will set them back even further.

Oh.  I didn’t know that.  I should watch.  And also find my favorite show Cheers.

Coach was on there, not anymore though.  Loved that show but if you binge watch, the antics of Luther get a little old and Coach Fox's overreactions seem to blend together.  Better to watch in smaller doses.

We just need a legit QB next year, this offense is ready to go.

Beg, borrow, steal, draft, or trade, it doesn't matter. Go get your guy.

Maybe we could even still trade Fletcher Cox (and his contract) for him!

Nah there will be a QB in this draft there is usually always one, now I have no clue who he is and I’m sure Howie doesn’t either lol

I just found the Eagles a replacement for Lane Johnson.

Minshew and Hurts have similar QBRs. That's not an accident. Minshew will have high QB ratings b/c they overvalue QBs who complete lots of short passes at a higher rate. But QBR is more focused on what he does in terms of efficiency in driving the offense.

Hurts has more upside, if he can improve his passing, Minshew pretty much is what he is.

If Hurts improves as a passer he can be special, if not, he's about as effective as Minshew, just with a different set of tools.

This year is about finding out if Hurts can continue to improve. That's why the last four games matter. Given a bye week to self-evaluate, we'll see if he can step up.
