I just read an article that talked about him like he is the next Reggie white.  I know nothing about him but I'll take credit if he's great.

Hes been in the league since 2017 and has done nothing, 2 sacks in 3 years on a roster. He wasn't even on a team in 2019. Next Reggie White, lol. Who ever wrote that article was writing click bait and you fell for it.

True... but he was no Reggie White.

I think if we are settling, we'd be happy with the next Juqua Parker or ND Kalu.

Right now we have Greg Jefferson and Brandon Whiting starting.

Pro bowl is a joke.  Lamar Jackson over Allen, Murray over Stafford.  Pro bowl is not about the best players.

Lamar has been better than Allen this year.

Murray has been much better than Stafford this year.

There's no issue with these picks.

Stafford has 10 more TDs (that includes Murray's rush TDs) and 1000 more yards. How has Murray been better?

Niners goin to be a tough out in playoffs

Lamar with 16TDs, 13 picks. Yea sooo much better then 31 TDs to 12 picks.

Jackson BLOWS. If it wasnt for his running ability then he wouldnt be a NFL player. Hes not a QB, hes a RB that will throw once in a while

When do people realize that how good a player is does not matter about Pro bowl. Its a popularity contest.

I’d say the truth is somewhere in between. Jackson is probably the most overrated player in the NFL and hasn’t had a great season, but he’s still pretty good. Throughout his career he’s had a knack for making plays when they count.

This.  Allen has been better also.

Murray missed 3 games. Murray is the engine of that offense. Jared Goff put up top 10 numbers with McVay.

If anything, Kupp is offensive player of the year.

Murray missing games is all the more reason he shouldn't get in over Stafford, who is having a near MVP type season. He had a little stretch of shakey play that took him out of that conversation, but he's having a great season.

3rd in yards
2nd in TDs
2nd in passer rating

I'm good with this. Playing more games does matter!

Just wait until he wins Pro Bowl MVP running his way through those pro bowl defenses that want no part of tackling like a butter through warm butter.  An award that has been promoted to high significance around here since St. Nick won it back in 2013.

Well, that's a problem. I don't read Spanish, though I am trying to learn it so that I can read him in his own words. Truly, that is my motivation. So far, I have only read him in translation and, even there, if I were to rely on Edith Grossman's translations I would say, "great writer" but if Gregory Rabassa, I say "greatest writer of the last 50 years." And I have not read a word of what Gabo actually wrote.

I cannot compare Garcia Marquez with Joan Didion. For one thing, I am ignorant of the former's prose. For another, they inhabit different worlds. A friend of mine described One Hundred Years of Solitude as being written in glowing bejeweled letters. I completely understood. I had never read a book like that before and, with magical realism, lo, others appeared. My wife taught an inner city English class and used Chronicle of a Death Foretold. The kids freaked over it. I have read Autumn of the Patriarch half a dozen times in translation. Sentences that go on for two or three pages, with the speaker changing in mid-sentence and changing yet again. Gabo attended trials of Batista's thugs and that inspired this writing. He spoke of how the witnesses changed but their stories remained the same, hence this extraordinary sentence structure, this prose.

But,

I was reading Rabassa's words and, incredible as they are, they are not Gabo's. They are fabulous, but they are different.

Gabo and Didion write in different ways of different things. Didion has written some very good novels. Gabo's are better, by orders of magnitude, but in ways unfair to compare. They write about different things in different planes of our perception. Nothing Gabo has ever written cuts me the way much of Didion does. Nothing she has written expands my mind as his does. In a way, her prose is reductive, but his is expansive.

I hope this makes some sense. To anyone who has read neither of these writers, you have a great and wonderful expanse before you. To those who don't care, I feel sorry for you.

Well said, and it makes perfect sense. I agree that it is comparing apples and oranges when talking about the two. Didion has a way of writing about grief that, perhaps, is unmatched. And I do agree that anyone who hasn't read both are missing out, though I also agree that reading translations of Gabbo or most other Spanish authors (Vargos Llosa, Asturias) for the prose is somewhat useless. But Gabo's writing is worth it just for the story telling. His insight into the human condition has been equaled by very few.

If/when Jalen Hurts makes the Pro Bowl when probably 2 of those 3 starters sit out then the possibility of him winning Pro Bowl MVP is well in play.  And when he does win it..whoo boy, that's going to be a fun summer.

is he gonna follow in the great footsteps of nick foles who won the offensive mvp award and then was traded the next offseason?

And kirk cousins is also an alternate.

somehow lamar jackson who has the 15th best QBR in the league and 23rd best QB rating  (just one spot ahead of hurts) with 16 passing tds and 13 ints (only 2 rushing tds in the season) and in his last 7 starts has 8 tds and 10 ints made the pro bowl team (not as an alternate).

apparently it’s easier to make the pro bowl now than getting into asu…

Love me an obscure Simpsons quote.

What planet has lamar been better than josh Allen this year?

josh Allen: 65%, 3742 yards, 31 td passes, 12 ints and 4 rushing tds and 555 rushing yards. 57.7 QBR (7th) and 95.9 QB rating

lamar: 64.4%, 2882 yards, 16 td passes, 13 ints and 2 rushing tds and 767 rushing yards. 50 QBR (15th) and 87 Qb rating (23rd)

josh Allen is better than lamar in every category but rushing yards.
