If DAL doesn’t beat ARI next Sunday they’re nothing but a #4 seed most likely

I feel like most of the scenarios where we make the playoffs are fool’s gold as we haven’t beaten a team with a better than 500 record, and haven’t really been competitive against the better teams when given the opportunity.

I’m not a complete grinch, if the Eagles win out including a meaningful game to the boys - then I’ll submit to the enthusiasm.

I really, really don’t want to back into a 7 seed, that in my opinion is a waste 3 out of 4 years (but the crybabies won, and NFL doesn’t miss a reason to make a buck). I rather have the draft position, and skip the narrative. Bah humbug!

What happens if we lose out?  Does Howie get fired?

Lurie gives him an extension, we trade for Wilson and keep Hurts and those two alternate offensive series.

Lowie = championship!

A four team tie with Eagles, Vikings, Saints and 49ers means the Eagles and Vikings make it.    But, if its 3 way with the Eagles, Vikings and 49ers, the Eagles are the odd team out.   If its 3 way Vikings, Saints, Eagles... It's still the Saints that are out.

I hadn't even considered this scenario, but you're right. Incidentally, the rooting interest in this Monday's Saints-Dolphins game is very tricky.

@EaglePhan1986 you do realize it takes two to tango.  Try stepping off the dance floor.  You will enjoy it ... and so will we.

Watching Jimmy G last night made one thing clear: it can always be worse at QB.

Yep.  I watch the 9ers quite a bit being in the Hawks market, and Deebo, one thing I notice about their offense, is with Shanahan trying to be so smart with all his weird packages, he takes his best players off the field to much.  Second play of the game, they had some stupid package and Sherfield was in the game instead of Deebo.

Can you please provide just one post of somebody in here wanting to give up a 1st for Jimmy G?

Provide?  No  The Blog doesn't have an index to facilitate searching.  But I am here, your honor, to testify what my eyes clearly saw.  There were three such suggestions posted recently.  They were very noticeable for me because I live in Northern California just up I-80 from San Francisco.  That's the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me Dog.

Someone suggested trading for Jimmy G last week but it wasn’t a first rounder i believe. I want no parts of cousins or Jimmy G. That’s like be asked to be kicked in the nuts or punched right between the eyes

It was a 1st rounder and the follow-up discussion centered around "that is too much" ... much like the similar suggestion to trade for Cousins.  Neither of them are worth more than a 3rd.

I rather trade up and take a QB than trade for Jimmy G, Cousins, or Carr.

Actually it does, and I did a search.  No one suggested a first for Jimmy G last week.

Revised to add, here are the posts from the blog last week with the word Jimmy in them, 4 posts, and only 1 was about Jimmy G

Most likely:

6 Seed gets us Dallas in the first round.

7 Seed gets us Tampa.

Considering all the TB injuries, and the fact that Dallas has had our number, I'd rather the 7th seed.

When it comes to the post season, I doubt it'll matter, Tampa Bay has that #12 guy. I think Dallas is more likely to crap the bed than Tampa Bay.

Here is a search by his last name.  Only one mention of him in the blog this month.

This court doesn't operate on hearsay, counsellor.

Seriously though, if there were people positing that a first is reasonable to trade for Jimmy G or Cousins, their Blog membership should be immediately revoked, and they should pay a large sum of money to the boards.

I see Franklin gave the update... but here's some tiebreak scenarios:

Vikings get tiebreak over the Eagles based on Strength of victory, though I suppose that could change.

Had to look that one up ...

In the National Football League (NFL), the strength of schedule (SOS) is the combined record of all teams in a schedule, and the strength of victory (SOV) is the combined record of all teams that were beaten in that schedule.

2021 NFC Division Standings
as of: 12/23/2021 11:15:09 PM
Team Overall Record Division Record Common Games Record Conf Record Strength of Victory (Wins) Strength of Schedule (Wins)
Philadelphia 7/7 1/2 0-0-0 5/4 .372(36) .475(93)
Minnesota 7/7 3/1 0-0-0 5/4 .439(42) .490(95)
New Orleans 7/7 2/2 0-0-0 5/5 .551(54) .528(104)
San Francisco 8/7 1/4 0-0-0 6/5 .415(46) .500(105)

The Titans were written off, but could have Brown, Jones, and Henry all back for the playoffs, with the added benefit of depth experience.

Wow.

Wow.

With brown and Jones back yesterday they played like absolute garbage, they're lucky the niners offense is just as bad

One of the problems judging this team was the lopsided schedule, with the tough games front loaded, a team in transition looked as bad as you'd expect, on the back end, they've looked a lot better against weaker competition, but how much is the competition and how much a new HC and his team jelling down the stretch?

We'll see with Hurts, people overreacted to the Giants game, heck, Brady was shut out by NO, who gave up 40 points to the Eagles and Hurts.

Or why any one game is too small a sample either way.

I doubt there's any scenario where the Eagles would make the playoffs at 8-9, so 9-8 wouldn't be "backing in", considering they were 3-6 at one point -- even a 9-8 record means they were 6-2 down the stretch to get in.  10-7 would mean 7-1 on the back half of the schedule

So I just did a search for Jimmy G and over the last month it was brought up that he was available and would actually be dumb for the niners not to take third for him considering his contract situation

and Wentzfan11 brought up they could considering trading Trey Lance and not Jimmy G considering how well Jimmy G was playing

Nowhere on this blog did anybody say they would give up a first round pick for Jimmy G. The only time a first round pick was brought up other than Russell Wilson, Watson or Aaron Rodgers and the stupid ESPN article saying they trade cousins

i can screenshot every time he was mentioned in the last month if people want but using the search it was never said we should trade a first for him. There was a discussion about him being available and maybe the Eagles should be interested in him. There was a discussion about why a Super Bowl was lost with Jimmy Garoppolo versus Patrick Mahomes. And there was a discussion about how a lot of people didn’t like Jimmy Garoppolo. Not sure where there was a first round pick came from. The closest thing was somebody said was the Niners could trade Trey Lance and keep Jimmy G with how he’s been playing

no to jimmy G, eaglepanty1986 is the dumbest poster who's ever immigrated too USA

I already did it and posted screen shots above.  @mattwill I can put you down on search techniques if you think you can find it.

this is what I brought up 1.5 months ago before they got into the stretch where I said their defense will begin to look better due to QBs they’d play and schedule. and they’ll look better in general because the schedule allows for it so you won’t know how much they truly improved or if they are just beating up on inferior opponents. Like the fools gold end run in 2019.

This is exactly why I said about a month ago I wanted the week 18 game against Dallas to have a meaning for Dallas and have Meaning for the Eagles so that you can see how far they’ve come from week 3 all the way to week 18. Because if they get obliterate again in week 18 it means they just really feasted on a really easy schedule down the stretch. Now if they can play it close or even win the game it tells you how far they’ve come.

The point you made is something I discussed either right before or right after the chargers game.

I just did the whole message board. It shows things posted in the blog with Jimmy g. Went back 2 months it was never said.

i think the most absurd thing i read was the idea the niners would trade trey lance and keep Jimmy G with how he was playing.
