That isn't correct. The "THREE OR MORE CLUBS" tiebreak for Wild-Card team is as follows:

1. Apply division tie-breaker to eliminate all but highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step two. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie-breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two* Wild Card participants.

2. Head-to-head sweep (apply only if one has defeated each of the others or one club has lost to each of the others.)

3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.

4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.

5. Strength of victory in all games.

12. Coin toss.

*This is copied directly from the rule book from when there were two wild cards per conference. There is no reason to think the rules were changed when adding a third.

So, "2" would be pertinent in this case since the 49ers did in fact defeat both the Eagles and Vikings. They would definitely qualify. The tiebreak would then fall to the Vikings and Eagles, which would still be tied for games played within the conference. The next step is common games., which as far as I can calculate now would be tied if the Eagles beat the Cowboys in the finale. So they'd have to go the next step, which is strength-of-victory. At this moment in time, the edge there would go to the Vikings. And since they have games against the Rams and Packers, they would obviously retain the advantage if they win those while the Eagles beat the Redskins and Giants.

As best as I can calculate, if the Eagles, Vikings, and 49ers win their remaining games and all finish 10-7, the Eagles are the odd man out.

Yes. You are correct, my mistake.

The Giants could be one of the only teams who can slow our running game. They're DL is really big and that's probably the easiest path to slowing our OL down. It's an interesting matchup.

I don't think so. We ran all over them the last matchup.

It was our passing in that game that screwed us. Chances that they stop our run or that Hurts is that bad again are pretty low IMO.

Glad I could help with your 7am whack off session

Watching Jimmy G last night made one thing clear: it can always be worse at QB.

The Hurts slander is absurd.

Colts till have a 89% chance of making playoffs

They’re making the playoffs, but I want them to be a lower seed and playing on the road in the wildcard round. Hopefully they’re one and done.

You mean he isn't worth one of our Firsts like the Blog GMs are saying??

That last pick over the middle was typical Jimmy G stuff. Tried to throw over the dropping LB when all he had to do was lead his guy to the left a bit into wide open spaces. The guy is good right up until he daggers your Offense with stupid QB tricks.

Hoping for the Colts to be a 6-7 seed and play the Chiefs. Titans win out + one Chiefs loss could push the Chiefs to a 2 or 3 seed.

Can you please provide just one post of somebody in here wanting to give up a 1st for Jimmy G?

Most likely:

6 Seed gets us Dallas in the first round.

7 Seed gets us Tampa.

Considering all the TB injuries, and the fact that Dallas has had our number, I'd rather the 7th seed.

If DAL doesn’t beat ARI next Sunday they’re nothing but a #4 seed most likely

Reggie Brown?

The NFL should have pushed the game back to today.

Some X-mas eve reading

It's definitely not slander to say Garappolo is a better passer than Hurts.  Obviously he offers little to nothing running with the ball, and he can't stay healthy -- so, by the same token I would question the wisdom of giving up much to sign him over Hurts.

They're both somewhere in the 18-22 range of NFL QBs.  I don't see either one as the QB I'd want for the Eagles for the next 5 years

Someone suggested trading for Jimmy G last week but it wasn’t a first rounder i believe. I want no parts of cousins or Jimmy G. That’s like be asked to be kicked in the nuts or punched right between the eyes

When it’s more than two teams tied the first tie breaker is conference record, so it’s possible to have the head to head tiebreaker on both teams but still lose the playoffs, as silly as that sounds

I see Franklin gave the update... but here's some tiebreak scenarios:

A four team tie with Eagles, Vikings, Saints and 49ers means the Eagles and Vikings make it.    But, if its 3 way with the Eagles, Vikings and 49ers, the Eagles are the odd team out.   If its 3 way Vikings, Saints, Eagles... It's still the Saints that are out.

Vikings get tiebreak over the Eagles based on Strength of victory, though I suppose that could change.

Nope, that ship sailed long ago it seems.

If the Eagles lose out they've still gone from 4-11-1 to 7-10; it isn't reasonable to think anyone would lose their jobs.  If the losses are due to the defense it would reinforce spending heavily on defense in the draft; if the losses are on the offense a lot of the blame defaults to the QB and play caller, for better or worse.

We will be reminded from Lurie during his press conf that he said in the beginning of the year that this is a 2-3 year plan. Next up is year 2. Buckle up and hold onto your oh Shoot handle.

Alright, which one of you is this?
