I'm not asking them to do anything.  They chose to play football.  And yes, I get the whole thing... the money, the risk... all of it.  I long for a simpler time. A time where the love of the game drove these kids to play.  A time before all the big time money for coaches...

Also, the commitment isnt forced... they chose to commit and get an opportunity at an education in return.  Maybe I have too high a value on that opportunity... but turn back the clock... there was no money at the end of the rainbow for these kids.  College football was bigger than pro football.  And this was the last chance they had to play.  And still today, for a lot of them, these smaller bowl games is their last chance.  The DIII kids play more games to fight for a championship... and almost none of them ever get to even try out with a pro team.  Why do they risk the injury?  For the love of the game.  And they don't even get a scholarship to play.

The almighty dollar isnt the only reason to do things.  But that's all that seems to have value to most folks these days.

I gave up about a year back.  It's over mate.

Is he really? I thought that was the LB from Utah.

Yeah, Lloyd is a RS senior as is Jermaine Johnson. Jobe is like 24 already. The LB from Nebraska (Dohman?) whose really good in coverage is like 25.

JD was playing HS ball in the fall of 2017 - you can’t be older than 18 to be eligible. I think this misconception is based on an internet typo.

@LeanMeanGM

Eagles 34

Washingteam 24

Reagor has a monster game and winds up with 40+ yards

GameDay. Bout to leave for Dan Snyder's crap hole.

Jermaine Johnson is someone I can see Howie picking.

Agreed - it might be a bit of a reach, but I don’t see us getting out the 1st w/o DE.  JJ’s skillset/production makes it unlikely that he makes it to our 2nd, but he is older and has a hard time against bigger OTs that can’t be bulled.

You know who is old - Kenny Pickett. He’s been playing college ball forever.

Swag is younger than him now and has been in the league for 2 seasons for context…

Anything to stop talking about opt outs… it’s like complaining about the weather. Climate change? Good grief what have I done, noooo.

I never understood this. If you are a guaranteed 1st round pick and youre 4-5 months from getting life changing money then its unbelievably stupid to risk injury. They are giving up their bodies for basically 100k over 4 years to get that money. While the colleges make millions.

Chase basically gave up his last year, got paid, and killed it for the Bengals this year. The players not playing is no indicator that they don’t like football. It actually should be a plus, it shows they can make good decisions.

Going forward, these college players will be paid so my opinion will change.

So long as they also have to pay tuition, room & board, and have to qualify scholastically for college - and continue to meet scholastic standard, being semi pro is fine, I guess. Of course there are those who feel everything should be free free free.

Happy New Years Eagles Fans. What another crazy year.  I hope everyone is healthy and mentally strong as we head another year in these crazy times.  Well January Football is here.   No Turning back now.   The Eagles are 1 game away from potentially clinching a playoff berth.  The 4th in 5 years for this franchise.   The Eagles are also approaching 9 wins or more for the 4th time in 5 seasons.    This season hasn't been the prettiest but with a New Young Coaching Staff, A Young QB being the starter for a full season and our Super Bowl Vets leading the way.   They have turned the franchise around in one short year.   We are witnessing the best Eagles Running Game in our entire History because of this amazing O-Line that has improved dramatically from last season and stayed healthy overall.  They have come way too far to drop this now.

Take care of business against Washington and everything is in front of them.    Anything is possible once the playoffs begin.   Just get into the dance. Just 4 shorts years ago, everyone wrote us off once Nick came in to start.  The rest is history.  The Eagles are 4 wins away from the NFC Championship Game.   5 Wins away from the Super Bowl and 6 Wins away from being Super Bowl Champions once more.   But again they must handle their business first.    If they do what's needed to be done over the next two weeks, they will enter the playoffs on a 5 game winning streak.  Washington is coming off one of the worst losses in NFC EAST History.    I don't expect them to be as bad as last week but The Eagles can't afford to slip up here.   They have to take care of their own business.  The Eagles have played better on the road this year.   They must finish strong.

Thanks. It just about as far there for us as an eagles game. Snow tomorrow. I sort of wish that was today. Never been to a snow game.

if they blow this and hurts plays bad, which he will, at least his passing, this board is gonna erupt, its gonna be hilarious,

So everyone was excited about the depth of the draft classes because of the covid opt outs.

No one ever considered this downside.  Suddenly people are disappointed that a bunch of prospects are 24 years old already.

Glad Im going to the game. They aren't televising it here. That would have pissed me off.

Eagles have a history of loving the older prospects.

Wouldn't be surprised to see those players added to the DL where we need a quick infusion of talent rather than developmental players. The older prospects will be stronger and more ready to contribute right now.  And given the age of our DL, that's what we need.

I don't think we would care as much to draft an older CB like Jobe, where already having grown man strength isn't as important.  But in the trenches it makes some sense.

Not no one…

But when I (and a lot of others) talked about the depth of the draft, I meant on day 3. That’s where the Covid opt outs help.

Yeah Ravens are on Fox same time so I won’t get it either. I have other ways to watch.
