I mean, yes, it's nice to load up on youngsters for TC. But let's be serious. Gowan/Vincent/McCain haven't done anything, haven't shown anything anywhere. Their original teams who invested a draft pick in them let them go for peanuts. Obviously fine to buy the lottery ticket, but you seem to be thinking that they'll be winning numbers. Nothing has shown that to be true.

There's a difference between them and say the guys they brought to camp in August this year, who were mostly 4.5 guys with limited upside. They're lottery tickets, but last year's draft was a perfect time to stockpile guys who sat out for a year and who weren't ready to make a NFL squad, which is why they shook loose.

It's like UDFAs, there's a handful that have a real shot, the rest are brought in to fill out practice teams (in TC, they often run two fields simultaneously, so you need 44 players just to practice, plus ST drills, veterans sitting, etc.). The guys they protected on the PS gives you a clue about who they value, I'd lay good odds that Awosika and Stevens win a job in camp next year. The guys who were 25 and over and have been in 3 camps or so are much longer shots to even return, much less win a job.

I did a lot of reading yesterday(laid up with Covid) and I've seen a couple mocks have the Jags now taking Evan Neal. Kind of shocked since it's been Hutchinson or Kayvon most of the year.

Also, I've seen Kayvon slip to as low at 6 in some mocks.  Mind you, I saw 3 Ducks games this year and 2 of which he was a ghost out there.

2 other things I've noticed about the Eagles.

There linked to Dean/Ojabo/LLoyd, and I'll take anyone but Lloyd. Also seen them linked to Mcduffie/McCreary/Elam, and again, I'll take anyone but the Kid from the Pac12

Hutch just lost his 'H2H' with Neal - who is much improved from last year.  We'll see how this pans out after the initial reaction of Michigan getting smoked fades (also based on the attention Hutch was getting through chips, etc. - someone should breakdown Ojabo's snaps in that game, who probably saw alot of Neal as well).

I'm much more concerned about KT, as he just doesn't look great against quality competition.  Versus Utah, not a squeak - even during the season they move him around, but when matched up against say Rhyans from UCLA - nada.  I'm sure the combine will be kind to him, so I expect another surge based on potential rather than tape per say.

I hope he does break it. Strahan was handed the record breaking sack. Doesn’t deserve to have it.

That final "sack" should have been counted as a running play. Because that's exactly what it was.

Jalen Hurts leading a deep playoff run would stress out so many people here.

Why???

You have this narrative that people want Hurts to fail when they criticize him

I want hurts to succeed but I can also realize that he needs to be better if eagles are going to be more than 1 and done.

I'm not opposed to bringing those guys in, and was fine with Howie trading for them. Good moves for depth and TC next year for sure. But CB is still a need, as Slay likely enters his last year with us next year. I'd have no problem with one of our firsts being used on a CB, if that's how the board falls. Then, if those TC lottery tickets can hit, all the better. But it feels like you're expecting them to hit, when I think the odds say the reverse is likely true.

Jalen Hurts being on the team stresses them out.   But we all know it really has nothing to do with Hurts and all to do with a guy that's not on the team.

Why ??  We are Eagles fans, winning in the playoffs would be great.  Just because you were stressed out watching Nick Foles win the Super Bowl, does not mean that logic applies to others with Hurts.  Just because we can be honest, does not mean we hate the team.

Unless you are referring to a QB we acquire in the 2022 off season or draft, not sure what you are talking about.

Reminder: we got a good deal on the Sweat extension. 7.5 sacks, and not the cheap kind.

He is taking a jab at Wentz.

I could be wrong, but I think most moved on from Wentz and just want the Eagles to have an actual QB.

They don't have to say his name to know what fuels their rage.

This is my argument when I hear that the lack of time off (thursday night games) results in bad product.

Not true. Theres bad product all over the place theyre just hiding *usually* in the 1pm sunday slot.

Now the people who make the MNF schedule, and the TNF should be shot, but thats a different argument.

I don't think the quality of play is any worse.  I think the major part of what makes games unwatchable are just the penalty calls.  They have trended dramatically upward until from the early 2000s to now.  There were 3414 in 2019 and 2020 there was a reversal and it was down to 2800. . https://www.si.com/nfl/talkoffame/nfl/the-super-bowl-flag-fest  There have been a total of 3082 this season.   https://www.footballdb.com/stats/penalties.html?yr=2021 The trend has been upwards since the emphasis of the passing game and protecting the QB.  http://conormclaughlin.net/2018/10/nfl-penalty-trends/  The problem with some calls is that they seem to really impact the competitiveness of games.  We also just see really inconsistent officiating in the same game.

My view is part of the problem is all of the "new emphasis" and then just the draconian nature of some calls.  Why is offensive holding a 10 yard penalty? Maybe it should be 5 or just a loss of down.  Why is PI always a spot foul? Why should a roughing the passer call negate a defensive stop? Why do we have officials that clearly make mistakes continuing to ref games.

this is why I want no part of Lloyd, when he played a "real" team, Big10 Ohio State he looked below average and lost. NO THANKS.

Give me a break, Ohio st beat Utah by 3 whole points in a tight game.

Its not like Lloyd was playing against Div II guys all year he was playing "real" teams.

He's just a good a prospect as some guy from some eastern conference.

Overall, I feel like the arrow is pointing up on this team. I didn't feel that way at certain points this season, but looking at it as a whole, it's certainly trending the right way. We've gotten younger, we have some nice building blocks, and found an identity.

I agree.

Posts like this is why people think you are trolling.

17-18 plays drafted since 2018?

22 starters on offense and defense...

Eliminate the back 7.  None of them qualify.  *for Maddox as the nickel (that's 1.)
Look at the DL.  Sweat.  That's 2.   (Barnett was drafted in 2017, Hargrave was a FA, and Cox was 2012.)
If you want to count Edwards, sure... go ahead, another asterisk as he was a UDFA, but let's count him.  That's 3.

Shall we do the offense now?
Mailata, Dickerson... That's it on the current OL.   You want an asterisk for Opeta/Herbig?  Ok.  That's 3 more.  Total up to 6.

Geodert, Sanders, Hurts, Smith, Watkins and Reagor*.  Asterisk on Reagor because he's only starting by default, not merit.  6 more.

So, that's a total of a dozen, at most.   That's not 17-18 by any stretch.  Stop the hyperbole.

Add Dillard (Only reason not playing is because Mailata is playing at an All- pro level. That's 13.

Players that could start eventually (or get significant playing time):

Driscol, Milton Williams, McPherson, Wallace, Taylor, Gainwell and Bradley.  That's at least 20!

So go ahead and take any 2 -3  of those out and that's still 17-18.

Your hatred of Howie is clouding your judgement.

EDIT:  Did you seriously leave Hurts out?  I didn't even look for his name since he's a PRO-BOWLER  this year.  I really hope that wasn't intentional.

/\ This.  WHen I know the majority of SB's are won by teams with Elite Qb's - then thats how I judge the QB on the team I root for.

Can the QB we have be an elite QB? I have yet to see anything from Hurts that would suggest he can be. To be fair, Foles had shown more in his first year as a QB than Hurts has. And while I actually stated back in the Chip Kelly era- that you can win a SB with Foles, I still see/saw his flaws. I would not consider Foles an elite QB.

And no I dont see Hurts becoming one. To me he wont even reach Dak Prescott status.

It’ll be interesting what other DEs get this offseason, but the contract looks fine now. I think we can all agree at this point that Howie was 100 percent right in signing Mailata early.

Goedert got market value, and Maddox, well, I think we still overpaid on that one.

Average QB play is a big improvement from 2020 and considering this team was expected to be awful this year, not too shabby.   Is there room for improvement?  Of course.   But you have to water the flower for it to grow.  😀

I don’t believe Hurts is the guy long-term, but he’s played "ok enough” that he buys optionality as a stop gap as we either build the roster up or find the right deal for a QB.

Overall, this was a really productive year for the Eagles.

I agree.
