Imagine playing all your starters in the 4th preseason game against the other team’s deep backups and about-to-be-cuts so you can build momentum for the season and then getting stoked when you hang 51…

how ‘bout them Cowboys!

You would think they would be a bit embarrassed 😳

Hard game to evaluate, but positive overall IMO.

Major Takeaway: Draft Matt Araiza!

Milton Williams is a player. The JV offensive line was serviceable. Stoutland is really incredible (duh). McPhearson didn’t look too out of place defending Cooper and Lamb.

Yes sir.  Milton Williams stood out and it didn't matter who he matched up against.

Probably not a long term starter at QB in the NFL but you gotta love him.

we have 2 not a long term starters for QB....  what we dont have is a LONG TERM STARTER.  LOL

Can someone tell me in what scenario we would play the cowboys next week?

The worst case scenario....

I believe the Rams and Bucs would both have to lose.

Milton Williams after a year in the weight room 😎😎

McPhearson hasn't done enough to not spend high-level draft picks on CBs IMO.

Rams, Cards and Bucs all have to lose.   The Models are saying Eagles will play either Rams or Bucs with an outside chance at the Cards.    Only 1% chance we play the Boys again in the first round.   Its possible but a lot has to happen.   Also the Saints/Falcons game could push us to the 6th Seed.    It's looking like signs are pointing to Brady because I don't think they will lose to Carolina.

Williams was fun to watch.  Hope the Eagles know how to utilize his talents moving forward.  I think his best position is inside, don't like him matched up against tackles as much as interior OL.

As far as the backup OL., Gainwell, Huntley, Reagor and Minshew ran for 149 yards averaging 5.5 YPC.  That's pretty darn good.  It also shows that Hurts running ability while it helps, does not make the running game what it is, the OL and Stoutland do.  I still think you have to trade Dillard.  He's basically the only Eagles OL with zero versatility.  Raise your hand if you had Brett Toth as a center.  The guy has been a project at tackle, has played inside and now for the most part started at center last night.  Dillard can only play LT.

McPhearson, Scott and Chachere looked OK while Vincent appeared to struggle.  Did Tay Gowan play?  Wallace looked OK defending the run but I still think you can improve over him.

Jason Huntley has some serious burst and pretty good cutback ability.  You wonder what he could do behind the starters.

Reagor and Jjaw stand tall as recent examples of Howies high draft pick failures.   These guys are poster children of why I would trade my high picks for proven talent. Because Howie is aboslutely brutal.

This is an unbelieveable drop here. Imagine Drafting JJAW because he was a 50/50 ball king in the endzone, only to have him do this with rare opportunity????   Why is he still on the team?  He cant do his primary function.

Also, Minshew didn't light it up but I think it's easy to see that he's more decisive and goes through his reads much better than Hurts.  He throws off his back foot way too much and the ball seems to float but he shows me that it should be easy to upgrade over Hurts if you want a QB to do QB things and for Sirianni's offense to be run the way it's intended.

What Sirianni needs to figure out and figure out fast is does the running ability of Hurts make up for the QB skills he lacks?  What does he want this offense to be?

the truth is neither are long term answers. I agree I would roll with MInshew and keep the focus on the Run game.

But Howie drafted Hurts with a 2nd rd pick which helped send Wentz packing, so he is forcing Hurts as the starter to justify his pick.

It's why JJAW is still here and Reagor is still starting. It's why Mailata didn't get a fair shot at starting till we lost our higher drafted players even though we all had seen he had the higher upside.

Insanity that folks came out of that game thinking that Gardner does (or doesn’t not do) anything better than Hurts.

But we do have budding superstar pro scouts on the EMB so it definitely makes sense.

Who here would trade Hurts for a 2nd round pick?

I would in a heart beat.

So you use zero context when watching last nights game with a complete practice squad on the field vs the Cowboys (mostly) starters?

And you evidently didn't see Minshew process the field quicker and make the right read?

OK. sure.

I'm guessing the majority of us on here have more interest in the game of football than the casual fan.  It's easy to turn on the game with Minshew at QB and see that when he drops back he reads the field different and IMO, better than Hurts.  You can tell that Minshew is much more decisive and if his first read wasn't there he moved on.  That's something that Hurts does not do well at.  It's OK to admit that one guy is better than the other at certain things.  Much like Hurts is a better runner than Minshew.

I also wasn't praising Minshew as the answer, as I said he throws off his back foot way too often and his passes seem to float.

My apologies if I offended any Hurts fans by suggesting someone does something better than he does.

Oh absolutely, easily the best offer we would get. It depends on how his first playoff game goes but I don't see him exactly lighting it up.

I also think the funniest thing about last night's game is that the cowboys are celebrating giving up 26 points to a team of backups. What happens when they play a real offense next week?

He does a better job underthrowing passes, that's for sure.

Williams looks like a guy whose going to stick around and be part of the main DT rotation plus he can move out to DE and rush with some value as well.

I’m not a pro scout so I defer to the both of you on the plays we ran, the route combination we utilized, the right progressions on each play and any checks at the line Gardner made that may have impacted his expedited processing (I assume you both know all of that to make those sweeping conclusions). All I saw was a QB playing in a vanilla offense and either throwing to DeVonta or running for his life against a heavily schemed-up defense.
