Always good times looking back and laughing at the Saints.

When the Vikings won that game, in that fashion, I knew we were beating them next week.  It was a wrap.  I didn't expect a blowout but I knew it was a win.  Those turds reacted like they won the Super Bowl.  I remember it being Wednesday of the week before our upcoming game and their players were still talking about how crazy of a win that was.  So thank you Saints!

Interesting that you haven't posted all morning until I mentioned you

Well, if you look at my avatar, it says my location is Spokane WA.  7AM PST, I just got to work.

Not since before Christmas. I have 1 tag left for doe that I bought to hunt flintlock season with a buddy of mine. Unfortunately he's had to work every Saturday so we will miss out on it. I honestly don't need any more venison at the moment anyways and was probably going to give the deer away if I did get another one.

So no I haven't. Have you been cold weather camping?

Nope, with holidays it's hard to get away, and then in January I don't wanna go on a weekend and miss football. I'm planning an outing the week after Valentines Day. We've had some really insanely cold weather up here, with -30C (-22F) days/nights, and that's without the windchill. That's too cold for me, I'd need a hot tent I think. Usually by end of Feb it gets back down to the-10C (14F) range, which I'm comfortable in.

I did just book my first canoe trip of the season, which I'm insanely excited about. First week of May, to Killarney Park. There's a lake that's hard to access, but still hard to get reservations on because it's a beautiful place and demand is high. The water is clear enough to see 28 metres...91 feet! down....it's quite crazy for a northern lake. It's so clear because acid rain long ago killed everything in the lake, lol. It's actually really high in calcium carbonate, which is the stuff in Tums, so that with my weed should keep my tummy happy. The lake is Nellie Lake.

The first lake I'm staying on is called Grace Lake though, and I found out there's a spot that's not marked on any maps, but you can figure out how to scramble up the mountain to get to it. In the early 1900s, we had a group of artists, called the Group of 7, who painted the landscapes up here and were hugely influential in conservation of our parks and forests. So one of the painters climbed up to this spot on Grace Lake, and sat on this rock, painting. It's called Carmichael's Rock (named after the painter), and somebody took a photograph of up him there:

Carmichael's Rock Overnight - Portageur.ca

That's him in 1930-something.

The view in modern times:

Carmichael's Rock | Gone Camping

So I'll do some exploring to try and find this spot. We'll see though, it's apparently a tricky bushwhack up a mountainside, lol.

Spokane isn't down under though 😉

All kidding aside Spokane is nice, if you ever see John Stockton tell him hi for me.

My dream draft scenario would be trading down one of the 1st round picks, then getting a #2 in ‘22 and #1 in ‘23. This could possibly happen if a team falls in love with a QB. Carolina, maybe?

Some folks like London quite a bit because of the catch radius and 50/50 capability… I’m with you, as the JJAW experiment has not gone well.

Drake London during the first half of the season was putting up MONSTER numbers and highlight reel catches.  I bought in to the hype.  USC WR in the NFL have either flopped or they have developed in to nice WR.

As of late their top WR to get drafted have been Mike Williams, Marqise Lee, Robert Woods, Nelson Agholor, Ju-Ju Smith Schuster, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Steve Smith, Keary Colbert, Michael Pittman, Dwayne Jarrett.

Out of those, London reminds me of Williams, Jarrett and Pittman.  2 out of the 3 have busted.  Hard to say which direction he'll go.  He needs to test through the roof IMO.  I wouldn't be upset drafting him but a lot of that depends on what other WR is on the board.  A 100% rehabbed London instead of 85% rehabbed Williams would piss me off.

Well, if you have ever paid attention at all on the board, I have posted several times I moved to the US from Australia in 1989.

And F John Stockton, that guy is a dbag of epic proportions.

Back to a happy time when we could actually run screen plays.

John Stockton is misunderstood, I actually met him, he's just a really private person doesn't like fanfare and that rubs people the wrong way.

I have a few friends in the land down under, never been but maybe I'll mosey on over one if these days, lived in NZ fir two years and love when the All Blacks kick the trash out of those wallabies for the bledisloe cup.🏆

That doesn't eliminate the conjoined twin theory 😉

You can be a private person, but to be a straight a-hole in the town you grew up in is ridiculous.  I have several friends who said hello at a Gonzaga game, and all they got was a nasty look.  D Bag.

I don't think it is going to be close.

Brady went 34-of-42 for 297 and 2 TDs last time, and Fournette ran for 2 TDs.  I think most people are expecting a similar outcome this time.  I'm skeptical about the Eagles chances, as it's a bad matchup of porous pass defense against Tom Brady; he'll just be throwing short, high-percentage throws all game and "matriculate the ball down the field", as Hank Stram used to say.

I'm more interested in how Hurts performs this Sunday.  Last time against the Bucs he was 12-for-26 for 115 yards, and 11 carries for 44 yards.  He has to be much better.  Even if the Eagles lose it would be encouraging if he was more efficient, accurate, and kept the Eagles in the game this time.

Yup, he's like that with the public.

I worked at a school a while back and they had a county wide book reading contest and whichever elementary school read the most would get a visit from a Utah jazz player, our school won and we got a visit from John Stockton, he drove himself in his beat up toyota Corolla, didn't bring any media with him, was wearing jeans and a button up faded golf shirt, he was super nice answered questions and if one wasn't told he was an NBA player one would of just thought he was some kids dad that showed up to speak at an assembly, meanwhile Karl Malone went to the second place school in a limo with the media and all the bells and whistles.

There are other stories of John Stockton going to the children's cancer Ward  on his off days, unannounced, he wouldn't allow media or any one to film him and he never talked about it,

Lots of other stories similar to that as well, like I said he just doesn't like fans bugging him and doesn't like to be in the limelight, plenty of stories out there of him brushing off fans yet but tough to dig up any stories about him doing anything horrible in public or private.

I get though why he rubs people the wrong way but he doesn't owe them anything.

I saw Kevin Curtis once at a jazz game I was wearing an eagles hat at the time and he was out in the halls and was surrounded by a bunch of roady girls, I recognized him and said hey Kevin, and he looked over at me and I pointed to my hat and he looked kind of peeved and just gave me a nod, I didn't think man what a D I just thought he doesn't know me from Adam and probably wasn't expecting to have to deal with an eagles fan in Utah

Some athletes like the attention some not so much, Stockton is one that does not and has been known to let one know he does not.🤷‍♂️

Imagine the scenario of us beating Brady, then beating Rodgers........then losing to Dallas in the NFCCG.....

Yup, I have always been one of his supporters but it appears that he's not going to bounce back. It finally appeared like we had a franchise quarterback after a million years since McNabb, but as usual it was a mirage for whatever reason.

I still believe the Eagles "had" a franchise QB albeit one with a fragile psyche. I think the injury + Foles success  + the next injury + more Foles success and fan appreciation + the next injury + the Hurts draft was too much for him.

Dallas will not make it past the 2nd round and we probably won't make it past the 1st so you can sleep well tonight.

I can't speak for other schools, though I expect they are not greatly different. At Michigan, football expenses are 35% of the athletic department budget but generate 80% of the athletic department income. Football and men's basketball are, I believe, their only athletic programs that make money. In essence, they pay for every other sports team and program. My point is that these colleges are not rolling in dough from the efforts of their "unpaid" players but are using that dough for the benefit of other athletes.

If you argue that college football players should be paid, does it not then follow that the gymnasts or wrestlers or lacrosse players, etc. should be charged more in tuition because they are costing the university money?

Schools wouldn't necessarily have to pay the players if the players were able to make money from marketing their image or just receive money from boosters.  I mean scholarships and funds for football are paid through direct donations all of the time.  I mean if some local car dealership or sub shop wants to pay for a student athlete to sign autographs in order to drive sales why does the NCAA prohibit it.

What would you need to see from Hurts in the playoffs to be somewhat comfortable going into next season with him as the starter?

What if he has a horrible game? Would you want to use draft capital on a high round QB or unload draft picks for a QB trade?

So 2 highly unlikely scenarios would have to happen.

Us beating both Brady and Rodgers

And the Cowboys beating both San Fran than either LA or Arizona...

I dont see either of those two scenarios happening
