Who was the second receiver in SB LII?

You throw the ball towards Hurts.  With the defender's back to the ball, if Hurts moves towards the pass and is impeded, you get a PI flag.  Not likely, but still a possibility.

Torrey Smith.  He ran a drag route from the far side and was also open if needed.

That was a "Come Back to Earth" game for many on this board.   All that silly chest thumping and ITYS of last week can subside for now.  The best bet each week is to sit back, drink a few beers, and watch/listen with no expectations.  It's going to be a long season.

Expectations are like mastrubation, you only end up screwing yourself!

Most of the posts on this board are ITYS.

I'm still not understanding the "Hurts wasn't that bad" group.

Like, he was pretty bad. Under 100 passing yards aside from the Watkins pass bad. Against a team with a banged up secondary in our home opener.

He stunk.

There is a blueprint developing to handle his game.  Everyone wants him to throw over the middle (I get it), but teams know to push him to the edges and away from his TEs and rushing lanes.  His game is essentially screens and deep sideline passes (his best ball, but low percentage) and scrambling.  Good teams aren't beatable with us limited to that.

I agree. Part of the problem is his refusal to attack anywhere aside from the sidelines. They go hand in hand.

Regardless in my opinion, he isn't the answer. He's too limited.

Nice kid. Hard worker. Just isn't someone that can win consistently in this league.

Winnable game.  We beat ourselves with mistakes on Offense.   It was a defensive battle though.  Very Sad for Brandon.  I don't agree with some of Sirianni's Play decisions especially not taking certain points and in the redzone. We had multiple trips down there.  Jalen is still learning so this was a harder Defense for him.  I still think he did a good job finding ways to move the ball.   Still can't believe we didn't score on the 91 yard pass from the end zone.   Again we left 17 points out there and as low as 9.  Both enough to win the game.   This was Sirianni's Head Coach wake up call game.   Look better early than later.  Also we matched up pretty well with them. Three Way Tie at the Top of the Division now with 1-1 records.   On to Dallas Week.

The coaches seem to be protecting him with the patterns.  I'd guess this is to reduce his reads and avoid the clutter of the middle.  His turnovers will be lower that way, for sure, but its a super limited playbook. It may just take more time.

The Cowboys game is winnable.  Their corners are weak and that plays into his deep ball game...if our OLine holds up.

I don't think he is the answer either.  His top end isn't enough to get us a Super Bowl or deep playoff run.  I am encouraged that he is avoiding contact, but the rest is same old Hurts.

What deep ball game? He can't throw deep even if he tries (at least not right now) with his weak arm he'll need to get those passes away quicker.

The snap counts are preposterous. Goedert and Sweat should not be playing a limited snaps. Barnett should be demoted for his penalty. Neither he nor Kerrigan should play more than Sweat.

He connected on two deep balls yesterday. The criticism of his deep passing is getting out of hand.

Barnett should ride the pine for a week.

Reagor showed a lack of attention to detail and did not have a TD.

Uh... yeah.  I know.

Didn't say he was good at it or good by comparison to others, it's just the best ball he throws downfield (when he actually does throw downfield).  If our WRs can get deep on the corners, there is hope.  If not, it's dink and dunk city.

Glad we gave Sweat all of that money to have him play less than half of the game.

Howie gonna Howie.

He had one good throw deep to Watkins and the other was a pretty good catch by Reagor the whipping boy. So no the criticism isn't out of hand at the moment.

Resting him for the playoff run.  LOL!

On the bright side he should be good and rested by then

That throw to Reagor was a good one.  In rhythm he’s fine with the deep ball. When he can’t step in or when he’s late it’s a problem.

People actually thought Smith was going to go off for 120+ and 2 TDs.

LOL

No it wasn't. Isn't that what I said.

I'm a dope that keeps thinking Reagor is going to explode.  I deserve to be laughed at, too.

(At least you realize that Hurts isn't the guy)
