Sorry, I was hoping to trick someone into thinking it was Watson news while the tweet loaded. Been a boring day.

I just come here to yell at things.  So it's all good.

Yeah, they drafted really well and signed the right free agents to long term contracts by accident.

I think we should have a weekly meme contest between you two.  We can pick the subject matter and have a vote on it.

I just learned that meme game, I am in as a competitor.

I mean,  did you see this one when RTK was appalled about a woman calling sixers games ??

I thought it was the Joel Embiid smackdown he laid on Ben.  Which was pretty juicy in it's own right.

Isn't that a kick in the nuts.  Jimmy Butler was on his way to being a Philly legend and they got rid of him for this chump.  Ugh.  I know Butler had his own issues but I would love to have him instead of Simmons.

Tobias Harris likes mustard on his cheesesteak. Wtf???

Well, now that three games make a career, it's obvious Mahomes is overrated. 😂

Who would I take over Watson, ignoring both character and intangibles?

Mahomes, Herbert, Allen, Dak, as young enough to be franchise QBs.

Brady, Rodgers, Wilson for this season and maybe next season, but too old to build around

Stafford, Cousins, Carr are close enough not to care. All put up Watson like numbers, and like Watson, can win with the right talent.

I'll take him over Murray, Jackson, Lawrence, Wilson right now, but they may have an edge on potential but still unproven. Lance, who knows for a couple seasons?

I'll take Watson hands down over Bridgewater, Darnold, Whinston, D Jones, Garopollo, Tannehill, Dalton, Brisset, M Jones, Mayfield, Heinicke, Burrow, Goff, Hurts, Wentz, Big Ben, Ryan.

So like I said 8-12th, where he's been his career. And I don't see much upside in him, if he gets injured and loses mobility, don't see the big arm of a pocket QB.

No you told us mahomes is unproven and 57 games is the obvious standard.

I am buying into the Bucs model.  Build the team and then drop in the QB.  These guys are playing longer and league is emphasizing the pass.  I anticipate the Brady, Stafford scenarios will start to become more prevalent.

I'd hate to invest a top pick in a QB next season, only to see them struggle while we are turning over the OL the next few years.  Further, why take that leap without really knowing if Sirianni is the guy.  Look at what Gase did to Tannehill and Darnold.

I mean to some extent they lucked into Brady being available at a time when they had moved on from Jameis.  I mean a better example is probably Denver but they even invested in a 1st round QB in 2010.  I mean it was Tebow but still. I mean back in the early 90s the Chiefs traded for Montana.   There is no sure thing and investing a 1st round pick sets the team back at least 2 seasons.  If QB is the pick in 2022, this team isn't making the playoffs until 2023.  The window will be closed for Cox, Lane, Kelce and Brooks by that point.  I don't see them replacing all of that talent.

What does that even mean ??

Only QBs I’d take over watson right now are

brady

Russell Wilson (not the elf on the shelf)

rodgers

mahomes

josh allen

dak

close with Herbert (if legal stuff involved I’d take Herbert over watson).

Stafford— older at 33 and had back injuries that concern me

murray— has more talent around him the watson had in Houston (better oline, Edmonds/Connor, then green, Hopkins, Moore ans kirk). he also constantly makes 2-3 bad decisions per game that hurts the cardinals. Eventually Might get there.

lamar— not near the passer watson is. I rather have Watson’s passing ability than lamar’s overall athleticism

elf on the shelf— he’s looked god awful. I get he’s on the Jets but he’s been awful along with the rest of the team. He make hurts last week look like a pro bowler

lawrence— possibility a couple years from bow

cousins— lol he’s not clutch and his stats before this year are always hallow stats.

carr— rather have watson. He’s doing well this year but watson has more talent imo.

Meanwhile he told us last year he was unproven after 3 seasons and 46 games, a super bowl title, 2 super bowl appearances and 3 straight afc title games…. Oh and a mvp award and SB mvp award. Yet that’s not proven that he’s elite cause he could eventually get hurt and not be the same. Which could also happen to Herbert or rodgers or could’ve even happened to Dak coming back.

When exactly did I say he was "unproven" as a franchise QB? Before last season he had all of two years as a starting QB. That's not a long track record - as we saw with Wentz, a young QB can look great for a short stretch. Now Mahomes is in his fourth season, if he gets through this season he'd combine both excellence and durability, and he's hands down the best QB in the game.

I’m not going back through this again. I posted your quotes 3 times in previous discussions with you. You disappear every time i show you the quotes of what you said. It’s there not proven to be elite yet and then you moved the goal post to some argument no one said about HOFer

also we talked about mahomes the day of the super bowl against the bucs. So he had 3 consecutive years. So don’t give me this 2 year BS. He had already completed 3 years and 46 games at that point. Wentz never played at mahomes level for 3 consecutive seasons. He had 1 of those. And your main argument at that time was mahomes could get hurt as to why he isn’t proven yet.

As far as Hurts and arm strength, his arm strength is fine, nothing special, but more than good enough.

His problem with the deep ball is timing, he just doesn't get rid of the ball in time, but Stafford underthrew DeSean for the same reason, on those long passes the ball has to be in the air before the QB sees the WR pull away, otherwise the CB has time to catch up if the WR has to wait for the ball.

I'm willing to be patient with Hurts, it's a lost season in any case, and the key is improvement. Some QBs just have great instincts and vision, but most learn to see the field (or not) their first few years in the league as the game slows down. If he doesn't improve as the season progresses, uh oh.

Yeah, I thought that too with the throws against the 49ers.  That throw against Dallas on the first drive wasn't a timing issue.  It was a he didn't have the guts to just unleash it.  He floated it, and he's floated most of his deep balls.  He floats a lot of his throws.  Very few are thrown with purpose versus throwing with zip.  His arm strength is not good.  I would definitely not say it is 'more than good enough', it is more likely 'barely good enough', if it is in fact, 'good enough'.

"They" are often wrong. Stafford has a great arm, but I've seen enough Detroit games to know he's the **** child of Favre, makes games exciting for both teams.

I think his value may be less his QB skills than the threat his arm provides for McVay to game plan. That is, McVay is smart enough not to ask Stafford to do too much, but Stafford to DeSean is a great way to open up the field. But I think if you ask Stafford to carry the team, better have a lot of Maalox on hand.

Favre is also a guy who won a Super Bowl and won not 1, not 2, but 3 MVPs.   Stafford wants to win, McVay is a very good coach.  I think the issue Favre had late in his career was that he had more gravitas with the organization than the HC and he was just going to do what he wanted, when he wanted and how he wanted.  He listened to Holmgren.  Once Holmgren left, he lost discipline.  Stafford doesn't have MVPs or a Super Bowl to his legacy.  He's going to work within McVay's system and I think its very likely they are the NFC representative in the Super Bowl, in large part due to Stafford.

Am I supposed to be impressed by that?   Is that something he's going to be doing in a game?   Nah.

I don't remember when, but we all say it, that is why we all joke about it.

It was the day of the super bowl against the bucs when he said he wasn’t proven to be elite yet cause he still could get hurt and change his trajectory. And then @ManuManu made a good point saying even if he got hurt and wasn’t the same even after those 3 years as a starter he had then he was still proven to be elite during that time.

That's a great model if you can get a QB to drop in.  It's a tough spot.
