Yes normally not hearing a CBs name is a good thing, and when 1 pays a CB 17 mil a year one would expect he does more than be invisible, it's not like he's shutting guys down week after week, against the cowboys he was useless, against the niners he gave up 2 tds, he's had 1 good game this year and been a non factor in the other 3 and eagles fans are fine with him because we'll at least he's not Jalen Mills, Byron maxwell, Carey Williams or nambdi?

That's a pretty low bar.

He needs to do more as does the eagles highest paid player Fletcher Cox, who has been reduced to a space eating NT which is fine if he actually made a tackle every once in a while, those guys aren't generally teams highest paid players.

That's two of the teams highest paid defenders basically being role players, doesn't seem like a good allocation of resources.

Yay Howie👎

Dude…you are just saying incorrect things. I watched Eagles/49ers highlights, neither of the 2 TD were on Slay. By not allowing any big plays, yardage, or touchdowns so far Darius Slay has been absolutely a good factor for the defense. Amari didn’t do anything against him, neither did Ridley, neither did Kelce, neither did SF.

Anyone who thinks Jalen Hurts is playing good ball needs mental help. He’s benefited from two bad defenses in ATL and KC and had garbage time stats against SF and Dallas.

Scary cause it just giving Sirianni and the FO something to grab on to a say it’s a positive.

Maybe the lack of a running game is on purpose.  Could it be they don't even care about winning games but would rather just pass majority of the time to evaluate Hurts as a passer?  Makes no sense how much they've completely disregarded the run game.

It’s laughable to watch Hurts lock on and run when it’s covered.

Do they even talk about going through progressions?

Progressions, blitz, man coverage, linebacker and pocket are all banned words at the NovaCare complex

Read the comments on this YT video. Apparently Hurts is developing into an MVP lmao

If you look at the numbers you would think Hurts is the next Brady.

This take is completely out of whack. Slay’s given up one TD this year and it might have been a coverage bust on someone else. Beyond that, he hasn’t been targeted all that much. You can’t reasonably ask for more, and his play is well above "role player.”

It's the win where everyone loses 🤣

Interceptions are like sacks, those stats get overhyped. Also, What??? Jimmy G ran in for a score, and the other TD happened on other side of the field? How are either of those Slay’s fault?

Being invisible is a good thing. Today he didn’t get abused. He gave up 4 catches for 23 yards.

My bad I must be drunk, even though I don't drink

I'm fairly certain I read that he gave up 2 tds against the cowboys.

I could be mistaken I'm having a difficult time finding any sites that show how many times he's been targeted and passer rating against him and tds given you ect.

Last year he had over 100 passer rating against him

This year he has a total of 1 pass deflection in 4 games zero Ints and 12 total tackles.

Ints are not like sacks, Ints are turnovers, sacks are meaningless stats when not taken in context

Turnovers are huge in games which is why coaches are always preaching about protecting the ball and getting turnovers.

Turnovers change games, sacks not as much.

Slay has been average at best.

For a guy making 17 mil I'd expect more than 1 PD this year and 1 Int in 19 games.

Like I said he's over rated and over paid.

Hurts is the king of garbage time and bad defenses. He didn't lose us the game today, but he isn't the answer. He's afraid to stand still for more than a second.

Pretty much this. We might get to the scary point where it may seem like Hurts isn’t the guy but he’s not bad enough to move on from so they ride with him again next year. My biggest fear isn’t getting a bust of a QB. It’s getting a mediocre one that is never going to win you anything but convinces the coaches and ownership to stay with him. Basically Andy Dalton in Cinci.

I had the Eagles going 2-7 in the first 9 games with their wins being against CAR and DET, so @LeanMeanGM it’s going to be

Eagles 27, Panthers 24

Bold predictions — Panthers will have to punt during the game, and Hurts has 2 TD runs

All good. I was wrong also, didn’t realize Slay gave up a touchdown against the Cowboy.

Yeah good luck finding those sites, I’ve had an impossible time the last couple hours at it. The only thing that might help is paying for PFF sub but I ain’t doing that.

I’ll say interceptions are a bit more important but far less common. Sacks absolutely have ability to change games. My point was that people get so caught up in those stats that they don’t think about how PBU/low yards allowed/low TD allowed similar to QB pressures & hits are equally as important to interceptions/Sacks.

He’s given up like 12 catches for 60 something yards and 1 TD that I’m still unsure if it’s completely on him thru 4 games. And that’s against 2 of the best receiving options in NFL. As well as a talented WR in Ridley.

I’d say that’s above average. But fair that he’s overpaid, but most players joining new teams are.

Slay is another one of those guys that’s a part of the "me first” social media driven generation. Absolutely disgusting that a "team leader” and high paid defensive starter touts his own personal performance after the defense gave up 40+ again.  I thinks it’s only the 4th time in franchise history where they gave up 40+ points in consecutive games.  And he’s talking about himself on Twitter?  Does that mean he blames the rest of the defense or secondary?  Extremely selfish and dumb.  What an unlikable football team.

Guys like Brandon Graham are a dying breed unfortunately.

When the whole defense had to run and celebrate in the endzone after that interception despite giving up a TD on every other drive… yeah that’s the TikTok generation. I’d lose my $hit if I was a team leader or coach

My biggest disappointment with Gannon is the lack of creativity. Give your guys a chance!

Premature but I kinda miss Schwartz already

Panthers are better than people think even without their biggest weapon compared to the Eagles. They are going to be fired up after the loss. Panthers 31 Eagles 17. Hurts fumble and a pick. @LeanMeanGM

Yeah I'm not paying for PFF as well.

I'm not saying slay has been horrible just not worth 17 million

As for ints, yeah they are far less common than they used to be

The league protects qbs and has so many rules that favor passing and receivers that being a DB is a lot tougher than it used to be.

I like slay he's the eagles best corner I just want more from him.

They sat at 16 and got their QB. Bill does his homework.

I think Slay should be criticized more for spouting off on Twitter than his play on the field

Problem is, his Twitter handle isn’t "reliable Slay”

At his best, Slay was somewhere between a good/very good CB.  He’s never been a shutdown CB guy.  On the positive, him being reliable is a sizeable upgrade from the garbage that was Mills and Maddox outside.

There was a time I would have argued he was a top 3 CB in the league...he was just on a bad Detroit team and now he's on a bad Eagles team.

Here's my thing. If you want to throw the ball 40 plus times every game Hurts isn't your guy. You have to gamelan to your guys strengths. He's not a gunslinger.

It's not like they were chucking the ball over the field. They were throwing screens and some short passes. The gameplan was absolutely built around Jalen Hurts.

Part of me still wishes SF took him at 3 just to see the chaos unfold in rest of the draft
