Rodney Harrison likes the D today.

Kewl.

Diggs is gonna get a nice little fine and possibly suspension after that brawl is reviewed for coming in and kicking Toney while he was in that pile.

Toney had himself a day huh

He's a rookie, who wasn't called on to pass block a ton in college.   It's a process.  I don't know where the idea that he could come in and just be dominant came from, but it was never going to happen.

I get it and I'm probably being bullish on him because I hated the pick but the fact IMO, he's looked bad a lot more than he's looked good when he was touted as a 1st round talent is concerning to me.  I want to see flashes of dominance.  Look at Nate Herbig, and UDFA.  Last year he was thrown in to the starting lineup.  He wasn't dominant but he also wasn't getting beat like Dickerson does.

I'm probably going to be overly critical of him all year but I'm also watching him and wanting him to dominate.  He was the 37th pick in the draft.  You don't spend the 37th pick in the draft on a guy to just be OK and a guy with Dickerson's pedigree should be able to pick things up quicker than an UDFA.  He should be getting better as the weeks go on, not getting worse.  Yea, it's just his 2nd game at LG after previously being at RG but I still expect more.

He needs to be out there every week showing flashes of why he was the 37th pick despite never finishing a college season due to injuries.

Browns running the ball on 3rd and 11 to punt it back to the Chargers and play defense ….. in a 42-41 game?

Wow ….

Hurts is bad

I’m not sure. I thought that would of been the right move too

Told @downundermike that the Panthers were not a team in the same tier as the Chiefs and Bucs.

Never said they were in the same tier.  I said games are more than that week, and you have to look at the schedule either side when judging a game.

You really gonna say this without reading other posts already pointing that out

Considering I didn't read the pages prior to your post, yes.😁

This division is so bad that we are the second best team lol

Wouldn't surprise me if Herbert ends up MVP later on

I honestly think Gannon needs to stop overthinking the defense and let Slay and Nelson just go out and cover.  Maddox seems to be finding his old self back in the slot although I thought his play on the deep ball today showcased how well his skillset fits free safety.

Milton Williams seemed to be a bit more disruptive today as well.  I think, but I could be wrong, the plays he made came from playing inside for the most part.  I really think Williams and Hargrave could do serious damage together.

Seems Gannon plays Milton at DE mostly in 34 looks and then inside in 43 looks.

I love his motor, dude is always running and chasing. Seems he played a lot today

I also always thought Maddox might be better at FS, not sure he can hold up all year though, though in Gannon's system doesn't seem the safeties are super involved in the run game as Gannon has them 20 yards off the ball

I enjoyed the 2nd half...  they hung tough, they battled, Hurts has shown me he has zero quit in him (I'll take that for now)...

Again... this is not, and never was, a contender, even in a relatively week division (unfortunately, the Cowboys should cruise to the division title)...

There's no point in constantly pointing out "oh, we're beating week teams" or "oh, their QB sucks", etc, etc.... well, YEAH, who did people think we were going to beat to get 6 or maybe 7 wins...  they might even beat a team or two they're not supposed to, but they might also lose to a team we think they should beat...

I just don't understand what some peoples expectations were...  @Connecticut Eagle said it earlier...  this is a team in transition... and I would add with an inexperienced coach, and an unproven and inexperienced QB, with lousy LBs, and minimal depth at some other positions...  what the hell are people looking for?

Worst of all, the GM in charge offers little confidence that he can fix things...

I'll take these point by point.

Hurts not having any quit in him isn't something to really hang our hat on.  A lot of sub-par QBs had no quit, but also had no talent.  Hurts isn't seeing the field well at all.  I'm not seeing much growth from him in the important areas.  At the end of the half during that off-sides call where he flushed the pocket, pointed down field and then proceeded to chuck the ball 2 yards out of bounds and 4 yards beyond his WR that illustrates a lack of arm talent.  He had a free play, knew he had a free play and didn't even give his guy a chance to make a play - so the real outcome was that he just ended up wasting time rather than trying to make a play.

I'm not worried about who we are beating or losing to.  What I am looking for is improvement.  But, I am seeing the SAME MISTAKES constantly, and that's not improvement.  We have WRs that still don't know how to run a rub route without getting an OPI called on them.  We have a QB that still doesn't understand that he can't hold the ball so long on an RPO or a screen and allows his OL to head down field and get called.   At least Barnett eased up on that play where he could have taken a PF for a late hit on the QB but he let go at the last moment... (and I mentioned it at the time), maybe that was improvement, but I don't see him here long term any more either way.  I expect when the ball is lying on the ground in the end zone that the QB would have the awareness to jump on it, rather than try to pick it up. That's high school level awareness.  I also expect that the HC would RUN THE BALL with his best RB and take some pressure off his inexperienced QB, especially when he's struggling.  And I said that after the game as well, once the emotions of the game passed. 11 carries for Sanders.  2 carries for Gainwell.  9 carries for Hurts.  That's not a recipe for success, and its not like this game was ever really out of reach, they were in it the whole time, so there was no reason to abandon the run... interestingly, when they started running the ball, the offense worked better.  The defense played much better, Davion Taylor came in and the run defense seemed a bit better.  And more importantly, they put in Taylor and got Wilson out of the game.  Now we need to get Singleton out of the game and play Edwards.

But, the last line is the most frustrating portion of ALL of this... and the hope I have is that ultimately we'll see a change at GM, but I don't think that we will... even if this team gets embarrassed, like I expect, on Thursday... like they were on that Monday Night in Dallas.  Another scape goat will be sacrificed to protect Howie... and that is what has really soured me on this organization and Lurie.  If you want to know why I am more negative now... it's Howie Roseman and a complete lack of belief that he has any clue what he's doing or can build a team with an identity.

Later on this year?

This game reminded me of the Eagles/Giants game from last year where they won at the end. They were awful all game but somehow managed to win.

Just can't get over how awful Sirianni was. Not that it should be a surprise by the process in which he was hired, but man is he bad. Wonder if he's gonna be one and done.

I hear ya... and I hated the pick too at that spot.   But I need to be realistic and recognize that he wasn't nearly the GOAT IOL that he was touted by those that had to defend that pick, in that spot to the hilt.  He's still a rookie, with no TC of any kind, and only started practicing once the season started.  So, this is still preseason and TC for him for the most part, and they just flipped him from RG to LG.   I'll be a little patient with him.  I think he can be really good, but it's not likely to happen immediately.  My biggest question for him is whether or not he can hold up and stay healthy.

@Veejer  ^ is that 'level-headed'?

Wasn’t he a Center for most of his time at Alabama? 20 out of 24 starts, and had no preseason in his first year.  TBF to him, no one has any idea how his last ACL surgery would affect his play because he was drafted injured, that’s on the Eagles.
Even though guys come back in 8-9 months from an ACL surgery a lot of them still say it’s about a year before they feel 100%, so it’ll really be next season before we see how good or bad he is.

Not sure how you can watch the team and not come away seeing he’s an upgrade over Doug’s scheme already
