Jalen Hurts is a short, limited passer with a weak arm who does not go through progressions well.  I cannot fathom handing the keys to an NFL offense to someone like that, but here we are.  As a result. I have been hesitant to judge Sirianni.  I think it's very, very hard to coach an offense with such a limited QB.

The issue with Sirianni, is that he's straddling this fine line in all the wrong ways.  I get that he needs to do what Lurie wants (that's why he was hired)...and I get that Lurie wants a pass heavy offense.  Heck, I agree with that and want it too.  Siri is adapting to Hurts' limitations by only calling 0-5 yard passes all day long...fine...but he's also refusing to adapt by running the ball.  It's as if he/they are still trying to prove to themselves and everyone else that they want a high volume passing offense.  I guess I appreciate that, because I really don't want to reach into 1990 for our offensive playbook, but the QB is who he is.

This affinity Lurie has for a high flying passing attack is ludicrous, 2017 the eagles won because they ran the ball.

They were 4th in attempts, 3rd in rush yards and 4th in yards/ attempt.

So running the ball brought the eagles and Lurie their only super bowl and Luries response is to want to pass the ball more???

Lurie is an idiot meddling owner who surrounds himself with idiots to take the fall for his incompetence.

He wasn't always this way seems after the chip Kelly debacle Lurie exerted more influence and used Howie to do so, once they won the super bowl it emboldened them both to be the bumbling meddling idiots they are.

It's a tired charade that they think is made more tolerable if the eagles win the occasional game👎

Not necessarily.

I don't like Howie and will celebrate like a SB win when he's fired but I don't think Lurie and Howie are telling Nick to not run the ball

Sure he did.  He told Lowie in an interview he will be their yes man.

I've changed my tune about playing Minshew, or even Flacco.

If Sirriani thinks that he can have a more productive offense with one of those guys, he needs to play them.

Prove that you're a good coach and that you're just being held back by a QB that you "don't want".

Nothing makes sense about Lurie. His one comment after WINNING. A. SUPERBOWL. was asking Schwartz why he gave up so many passing yards. He's clueless.

If I'm Nick...I have that Tuesday meeting with Lurie and discuss it openly.

I can call an offense that gives us the best chance to compete.  It's not the offense or scheme I want to run.  But it's what makes us most competitive with the QB we have.  Or, I can continue to push forward in the air so we can continue to broadcast Hurts' limitations and be more certain in our evaluation of him.

All young first-year offense-minded HC's have ideas.  They want to build something.  That's why they all want their guy at QB.  No one wants to call a game or draw up a scheme to fit the limitations of a random QB.  They want to build something in their own image the way they want.  And what we are seeing is Siriani struggling to abandon his grand ideas in favor of an offensive identity neither he nor the owner want.

Thats stuff you learn in the 8th grade. Thats a bad player with no mental capacity towards the game. it has ZERO with his current coach.

Can you imagine blaming your current boss because you dont know how to wipe your ?A$$

This team leads the league in penalities and is well on pace to break record for penalties.  A sloppy team that commits a lot of penalties is on the coaching staff.

I'll call Nick up right now and tell him to start him on Thursday.

You forgot Arcega-Whiteside.

49% hit rate on 2nd round WRs and Howie picks one of the 51% that don’t hit.  Not sure anyone is surprised by that.  What I worry about is the ability to cut loose second day failures in a timely fashion. Part of me just hopes he is keeping Tyree Jackson’s roster spot warm.

Well, Minshew and Flacco are not even close to the answer.  Flacco has a much better arm than Hurts, but he's pretty terrible.  He'll keep it more respectable on passes over 15 yards, but I'm pretty sure Hurts gives us a better chance to win.

Minshew...I suspect he's going to do more for the passing offense than Hurts.  I think it will be easier for Siri to use the whole field and push it downfield with Minshew.  But again, Minshew really is not that good, so I'm not going to be calling for him.

To your point...yes...if you think you can at least run your version of the offense better with one of the other guys, then you need to make the change.

He may actually be, but we may never find out unless Hurts is injured I dont see NIck pulling him. Thinking he was mandated to start Hurts, because Howi and Lurie like dual threat running QB's.

Personally I dont know if Minshew is better, I know Flacco used to be.  I just know that Hurts sets the bar very very low in regards to actual QB play.

If anyone ever asks you what makes sports so great, just send them this...

Neither are the long-term answer so I don't really care who they go with. I'd rather them just ride this out with Hurts, have him prove that he's not the guy, and then move on to the new guy whoever that is next season. Minshew probably gives this offense more juice than Hurts and Flacco, but in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't matter. Next year's starting QB isn't on the roster right now.

The Eagles roster still sits at 52.  If Jackson was healthy, they could activate him and they'd be fine.

Why the hell do the Eagles insist on not filling out an entire 53 man roster?

Fantasy football tweet, but it translates well to showing the impact Slay has had.

To follow up.  I'm guessing that spot is Opeta's

Couple options here...

1.  Go all in on Siri/Hurts and build the offense around what Hurts does best for the future.  Horrible idea.

2.  Run from Hurts as fast as possible in the offseason and either overpay for Watson or force it with one of the bad QB prospects in round one 2022.  This could set them back more years than they are already set back.

3.  Defer another year.  Use most of the draft surplus into building a better team, roll some of it back to the 2023 draft when (apparently) there are some real QB prospects.  2022 will come with more pain and patience will be zero, but it's better to waste one more year than to waste several with options #1 and #2.  2021 was about evaluating Hurts (done).  2022 will be about evaluating Siriani.  If we aren't happy, it will be easier to get an in-demand HC candidate with a more talented roster and the draft capital to get his QB for him.  If we are happy with Siriani, then you let him go get his guy in the 2023 draft.

He is the CEO and Schwartz was one of his senior managers. From that perspective it would be a valid question.  Wouldn’t be much different that the Walmart CEO asking one of their regional managers why his same store numbers have mostly been under for the last two quarters.  Frankly, my hope that Lurie does look at things a bit like a business leader that gives me hope his evaluation of Howie leads to his involuntary departure.

Agreed our starting qb for 2022 is not on this team right now.... - there are two things that worry me with Hurts - Longterm wise.

1) If he does not progress in his read and react even a little bit, the young wr's will suffer, and not develop as much as they could with a proper QB.

2) He could make enough plays with his legs to excite people, like certain fans/media types and more importantly the HC and Howie could think there is potential and keep him next year.

Yea, I don't know if he'll be available for Thursday but should be off the list relatively soon and back on the 53.

Lol. The timing of Lurie’s jab/question was moronic.
