I really liked Davis Mills in the 3rd round of this past draft.  In some ways, I liked him more than Wilson/Fields/Lance, none of whom I particularly liked as franchise-level investments.

Carson Strong looks like the best QB prospect in the upcoming draft, will likely go in round 1...and I'm not sure if he even compares favorably to Mills.

There wasn't a massive amount of buzz about Herbert the year he came out. He was talked about, but not mentioned as much as Tua. I watched him play Utah in his last game and thought he was special but I bet most were talking about him the way they are a lot of the prospects this year.

Considering the stakes, his NFCCG / SB was the most amazing two-game stretch I've ever witnessed.

Agreed.  He was as good in those two games as any QB I've ever seen in those games.  Even his INT in the Super Bowl was a beautiful ball that Jeffery just couldn't catch clean.

One of my favorite parts of the Super Bowl mic'ed up version is Jenkins and the DBs talking about him fitting the ball into Clement. The window he fit that into and the confidence he had to throw that was unreal. That's one of the best throws I've ever seen in a SB.

The Gruden email story is really starting to bother me. Reporters seem pretty incessant about getting him suspended and stoking outrage. Were they insensitive and cruel? Sure. They happened 10 years ago.

Someone saw those emails back then and found them gross and either showed or told someone else about them. There is no way in hell the league didn't know about it then as well as NFL insiders who are constantly talking to people. Yet no one exposed it then.

Now because of the events over the last year where society has become super racially aware and I'll argue too much so, people who likely knew about these emails back in 2011 are going in on the "he needs to be punished" takes so for clout. It's Fing embarrassing.

Unless it's an actual crime and a serious one, I find punishing people for crap they did a freaking decade ago so damn sad. It comes off as petty, vindictive, and frankly a total lack of awareness or understanding of how humans work. They have no idea how much Jon Gruden has changed as a person during that time period. But at the end of the day, if you want someone punished for crap that isn't a crime, then Fing find out about it or expose it when it actually happens. Otherwise, take the Fing L and stop acting like goddamn children.

Sweet jesus

People loooove their moral high ground. Every single one of us have said something insensitive in our lives. We're allowed to make mistakes.

They play the Texans tho. 49ers are two weeks away

On the Watkins throw, Hurts couldn't step in to the throw, but if the ball was out on time, its not an issue.  Watkins actually slowed down out of his break, looked like he wasn't expecting the ball... then hit the gas to catch up to it... then slowed down to let it catch up to him.

At least some people are capable of acknowledging this when discussing the play. My word.

They were expecting Jimmy G to be back for that game after their bye. I think this is a better way of doing it without crushing trey lance. He couldn’t throw yesterday. If you watch that cardinals niners game, deebo was open a lot. And lance just decided to take off. During the game the announcer talked about shanahan saying Jimmy G would be back after the bye coming up next week. I think this is likely just them doing it without having to bench lance cause they don’t think he’s ready.

I understand there wasn't much Herbert buzz, but he was 6'6" with a massive arm, really good athleticism, and a reputation for seeing the entire field.  I don't think there are any draft eligible QB's this year that remotely fit that description.

Remember when Fulgham was going to be the starting X receiver this year?  Good times.

Also, the return of Togiai.  Howie now gets a pass on one of the most egregious roster moves last fall.

Niners play colts week 7 on Sunday night. Their bye week is week 6.

If we want that Colts pick to be a first rounder, then they are going to need to rack up a few more wins.  As far as I'm concerned, we want them to win most games right now.

Jimmy G > Lance at this point in their careers. Lance is more fun to watch, but SF's offense is more functional with Jimmy.

Idk there were a lot of people skeptical of herbert coming out that year. It’s why he was the third QB taken even after tua had that major hip injury. I don’t think many predicted herbert to be this great. There was the thought he could be good but he’s playing at an elite level.

Niners would’ve won that game yesterday if they got an average Jimmy G playing. The cardinals were fortunate trey lance was playing his first ever game. The cardinals had injuries in the secondary and guys were running open that lance just missed or refused to throw it after his early pick.

They will get some wins. Don't want them to get too many and fool around and make the playoffs.

I'd rather gamble for a top 10 pick and hope they don't bench Wentz. Always shoot for the highest upside scenario.

I'd rather them lose because I don't see Carson finishing the season anyway and I'd rather have a high 2nd. They aren't catching the Titans and all that will happen is they bench him for medical reasons towards the end of the season and they'll end up with a pick in the 50s.

BTW... Comparing him to Foles isn't really a high mark.  Nick was a backup QB in the NFL, still is a backup QB and has pretty much always been a backup QB.   He has had stretches where he was just in a magical zone, but for the majority of his career, he's just a backup QB.   That said, that beautiful backup QB got hot at exactly the right time and all things worked together to bring this city its long awaited NFL championship.  But, still... Foles isn't a guy teams are looking to build their franchise around, nor have they ever.

I agree completely. Comparing him to Foles wasn’t a compliment, but Foles at least looked competent. I would like to see that from Hurts.

He was thought of more highly going into the 2019 CFB season.  #2 QB behind Tua and a top-five pick.

Disappointed during the season and lost a bit of his shine.

I’d bet the colts are 5-5 or 4-6 heading into the two game stretch against the bills and Bucs. After tonight against Baltimore, they play houston, at niners, jets, titans and jags. I see them at worse going 3-2 during that stretch making them 4-6. If they are 5-5 and lose both games to the bills and Bucs to be 5-7, their schedule to end the year isn’t all that hard. It’s houston, NE, Arizona, Vegas and jag. They could finish 9-8 or 8-9. Not sure that gets them into the playoffs but win a 7 seed now more reason they would play it out

Colts are not benching Wentz unless he’s injured. If he gets benched then he’s not their QB next year.

I don't see why so many people missed it with him.

6'6" with a hyper elite arm, great athleticism, won the academic heisman (Campbell Trophy), Rose Bowl MVP...his statistics weren't up in the stratosphere of Burrow and Tua, but he wasn't throwing to a single drafted player.  Burrow and Tua had, what, 7 combined first round picks catching their passes?

Lol I had a moment when I saw the Trey Lance tweet. You guys are looking too far ahead. Colts need to get past Ravens for now

This.

The contingency is for a Wentz injury, not team ineptitude.  It would be bad faith to sit a healthy Wentz.
