Pretty much. Without US support, Ukraine would've already folded and the war would be over. We're just prolonging the suffering at this point, which, of course, is the point.

So we should just allow a soverign nation to be invaded ??

The Russians lost badly to the Finns early during WWII.  However, when their backs were up against it, look how things worked out at the end of the war for Russia.  Not the best idea to push things too far.  Much better to try to settle these hostilities instead of stoking the flames of war.

Is this a serious comparison?

Finland's population in 1939 was 3.7M. The Soviet Union was 170M.

Ukraine population is 40M, Russia has 145M.

That they're not even remotely comparable.

Ukraine has 10x as many people now as Finland did then. And Russia's population is not only smaller, but it's much older on average: birth rates were at 1.5 per woman from the 90s through the 00s.  To put that in perspective, from the 1910s-20s about 45-50 babies per year were had per 1000 population; in the decades supplying servicemen to Russia's current army that same rate was under 10 per 1000.

Russia is literally dying, and they don't have 100s of thousands of able and willing bodies to throw at Ukraine like they did Finland.

It's an utterly preposterous comparison that shows a complete lack of understanding of the situation. Not to mention Ukraine has been preparing for this since 2014 with a modern army trained in tactics by the west designed to counter Russia's own.

No question that Russia is an aging, dying country.  They're kind of like that weak superhero with an iron fist.  They didn't have that iron fist during WWII.  They do now.

True. Invading Russia is a terrible idea. WWII shows that clearly. I was more referring to the Modern Russian Military. Their ability to take on NATO doesn't exist. Let's say, they went into Poland or Finland or any NATO country. NATO would totally obliterate them in the air and on the ground, and drive them out completely. NATO has superior arms, tanks, Missiles helicopter and Jets.

Finland's President just issue a warning, to Russia, on Joining NATO, "You Caused this."

This guy correctly notes that if Trump was in office, Russia never would have invaded Ukraine.  One thing we do know - Biden was prez when Putin invaded, not Trump.

From the Russian Mod

️According to reliable information, the Kiev regime has carried out another bloody action in Kharkov Region based on the Bucha scenario.

▫️6 civilian vehicles with white flags mounted on them were shot at by AFU soldiers on a stretch of road between Staryi and Novyi Saltov.

▫️The photo and video footage of this heinous crime was made by specialists from the AFU’s Centre for Information and Psychological Operations.

🔹In addition, from the area of private houses in Belaya Krinitsa, Kherson region, the Ukrainian armed forces’ artillery struck several positions of the Russian Armed Forces in order to provoke retaliatory fire on residential buildings with civilians, whom the territorial defence fighters are not letting out of the blockaded settlement by holding them as a "human shield”.

️We warn in advance that these and other materials fabricated by the Kiev regime about alleged "Russian atrocities” are soon to be widely spread through the Western and Ukrainian media, as well as online resources.
