Almost an entire Russian armored battalion lost.

Maybe they shouldn't have invaded. Hmm.

Essentially a BTG (the Russian version of the US Army BCT) became operationally non-functional in a day due to the losses

Its hilarious because NLAWs and Javelins essentially rendered BTGs useless because troops rolled in on APCs with a tank for a backup and they’re getting picked off, whereas in the US there’s a mix between BCTs that are light infantry, Stryker (think of that as motorized infantry (those vehicles were used way beyond their capacity in Iraq/Stan*), and then mechanized infantry.

Russia just rolls mech, and their "elite” airborne VDV got wiped the F out. I was looking at some numbers and the VDV was already under manned by a quarter. so if you take the Mech out of the game they can’t figure it out. They’re only making advances in places Ukraine is pulling back from.

*The Stryker is a great vehicle for motorized infantry. Turns out it sucks if you use it for what it’s not designed for, like mounted patrols in IED-Land.  If anyone is curious on how the military regularly does stupid ish like this, I recommend watching "The Pentagon Wars”.

Hopefully ukraine is using the pullbacks to trap them

I hear Russia is having to use parts from appliances in their vehicles and weapon systems - sanctions.

Suck it Russia!!

It seems like they are, though not in massive traps but smaller opportunistic strikes like this one.

Caveat being I'm no war tactics guy, just what it looks like to me. Their counter-offensive is firm but it seems like they're also being careful not to overextend.

True. Invading Russia is a terrible idea. WWII shows that clearly. I was more referring to the Modern Russian Military. Their ability to take on NATO doesn't exist. Let's say, they went into Poland or Finland or any NATO country. NATO would totally obliterate them in the air and on the ground, and drive them out completely. NATO has superior arms, tanks, Missiles helicopter and Jets.

Finland's President just issue a warning, to Russia, on Joining NATO, "You Caused this."

And Russia responded with ominous threats of nuclear war.  Nobody wants that, but at the end of the day, those naive enough to think that we're going to destroy Putin and Russia this time are playing with fire.  If you back them up against the wall with nothing to lose, nobody wants to see what could happen.

Again, the sane solution is to cool things down and settle this conflict.

So what is backing them up against a wall mean to you?

Who thinks we are going to destroy Putin and Russia?

I'm not sure what backing up against a wall would be honestly - but if a strongman like Putin believes his time is up if he doesn't do something drastic, that could be it.

And there have been others, not you, who are talking big about taking out Putin.

I kinda feel like if Putin wanted to go nuts, he'd have done it by now, rather than allowing the conflict to drag on so long and letting his military get exposed for being the laughing stock that it is. But if he truly does have a terminal illness, it'll be tough to predict how he'll react as the disease progresses.

To Me, it means, invasion of Russia, bombing Moscow. That's back up against the wall, as I see it. And it's totally insane, something like that would justify the use of nuclear weapons. Hopefully, that never happens.

As for taking out Putin, that's absurd. The War in Ukraine is located there and hasn't spread, yet and hopefully won't. Trying to take out Putin, is just as nuts as an invasion of Russia. Not happening.

so Putin waves his nuclear arsenal around and you lay down and show him your belly.

yeah, that'll definitely work.

The GOP way of strength is that of Trump. Pretend tough, then roll over and submit.

I would like to point out you would just put the person on ignore yourself.

What a F'ing **** lol.

Russian aggression will lead to Finland applying to join NATO.

This would seem detrimental to Russian interests. Putin self-own? Or did he calculate this, in order to further justify his nefarious deeds?

We interrupt this clown show for an important public announcement:

The Ruble is now 64.75/USD. Stronger than before the NATO war began.

Now back to your regularly scheduled delusions.

Why Finland, Sweden joining NATO will be big deal

Not neutral like Switzerland, Finland and Sweden traditionally think of themselves as militarily "nonaligned.”

But Russia’s war in Ukraine and Putin’s apparent desire to establish a Moscow-centered "sphere of influence” has shaken their security notions to the core. Just days after he ordered the Feb. 24 invasion, public opinion shifted dramatically.

Support in Finland for NATO membership has hovered around 20-30% for years. It now stands at over 70%. The two are NATO’s closest partners but maintaining good ties with Russia has been an important part of their foreign policy, particularly for Finland.

I'm sure our resident Pravdologists will blame the US, Ukraine and not zees, for Russia's invasion forcing two more local nations into NATO.

That's because Putin is fascist. He hiked interest rates, demanded anybody still doing business with Russia to pay in Rubles, creating demand for the currency that didn't exist prior. This is far from a free market making any real economic success.

Putin's form of government is probably best described as "Neo-Stalinism". It's a bizarre mixture of fascism and communism. There really isn't any free enterprise in Russia. I'm half expecting them to go back to the Hammer and Sickle flag they've been fighting under in Ukraine as the official flag of the "Russian Federation". Putin already brought back the old Soviet national anthem. It's why I call them Soviets. It's what they are. The fact that we have so many right winged Trumpbots cheering on communism and Stalinism, shows what a collection of uneducated, uninformed morons they are.

yeah, crazy what happens when you introduce capital controls that inhibit domestic investors from trading in other currencies. demand for the local currency increases.

problem is that nobody outside Russia wants Rubles, and nobody is giving Russia the rate their domestic market is at. investors are starting to use offshore markets for Ruble pricing.

did you see the 50+ pieces of mechanized armor that western weaponry in the hands of Ukraine blasted to nothing, fascist?
