November 5, 2024Nov 5 Author Keep using the Amazon link, especially with Black Friday coming up. Just now, VaBeach_Eagle said: Just realized that we're closing in on 5 years since the old EMB died and was reborn here so I did a quick, rough estimate on what we've spent to keep the EMB online since April 15th, 2020. We're closing in on $10,000.00 at $9,693.00.

November 25, 2024Nov 25 Author We're several hundred dollars behind where we were last year on Amazon, so don't forget to use the link whenever you make an Amazon purchase.

Every purchase helps, well almost every purchase. Some things don't generate a commission. Like you can't buy $10,000 worth of gift cards and earn a commission on them. But most things do. Here's how we're looking for the year so far (last year at this time we were at $914.39 so we're down a little from last year): Spoiler So far for the year, AdSense is at $635.08, so combined we're at $1,372.10. Added to the $264.08 that we have in the board's account and we're at $1636.18. I would expect that by April of 2025, we'll have the bills covered through April of 2026. But we need more clicks on the Amazon link to make sure.
December 2, 2024Dec 2 Probably asked and answered but does the board get anything when we use those amazon payment plans with chase?

I'm not sure, I'll poke around and see if there's anything said about it. I would suspect that a payment plan doesn't affect us one way or the other, but the purchase of whatever is part of tha payment plan would.

I know that we don't get anything on regular orders until it's actually charged. My guess would be that it would be counted as 'paid for' since it would go toward the balance you owe, kind of like buying something with a credit card. They don't wait for you to pay off your credit card to give us our commission. Amazon would get their money up front (I believe), but your payment plan balance would just go up by whatever the cost was. I'll see if I can find anything on Amazon about that (which I kind of doubt I will), and see what it says.

Just did some Christmas shopping but chose to use the interest free option instead of paying outright and was curious if the board gets anything for that

Right now, for Dec 1, we're -$0.10 (that's negative ten cents lol).

Various ways for us to use links to help pay the hosting fees here. The goal has always been to make it self sustaining with no money required out of pocket. Really despite having various different links, the google ads for non-members and the amazon link should be able to pay for everything. Its just been a long process to raise awareness that the amazon link exists, and hoping that people actually remember to use it for all of their purchases. But it seems we are close to achieving that goal of being self sustaining. IF youd prefer to just use the gofund me, this is the link, taken from the first post. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-keep-the-emb-funded-and-online?utm_campaign=p_cf+share-flow-1&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=customer

It's not a whole lot higher and it depends on the type of payment method that someone would use, like a credit/debit card or a checking account, but we'd end up getting a bit less of each donation via PayPal than GoFundMe. GoFundMe charges transaction fees too, but it's a set fee and doesn't go up depending on the payment method. Donations are always appreciated, of course. But I'd much rather not have to have people dig into their wallet or purse for the board if at all possible. Like @HazletonEagle said, if everyone that uses Amazon for purchases will use our link before making any purchases (the cookie gets set for 24 hours) and do that throughout the year, I know we'll have more than enough for the April bills (that's when the big bills come due each year).

December 26, 2024Dec 26 Hopefully as December comes to a close we did good earning money through the holidays.. I noticed we didn’t have the bonus offers like we did last year which added a couple hundred extra for us.

I noticed we didn’t have the bonus offers like we did last year which added a couple hundred extra for us. Through the 25th, we're at almost $120 for December. For the year (though the 25th), we're at $857. For comparison, last year we did $988. So it's off a little, but last year we had those bonuses, which padded things a bit. So straight commissions are actually higher now vs. last year, but total earnings are down a little due to not having those bonuses, which I've kept watching for the offers but they never offered them.
