A first needs to be used to replace cox

I think DE is still a bigger need.  I don't think they should set on a position but I think Wyatt and Davis are viable choices that should be available.

With Graham & Sweat I think it goes DT>DE

(I’m not a huge believer in Milton at DT)

Surprised there was no trade. Interesting that there could be a possible return. Is no one going to be interested in signing him either?

Weren't they getting calls on Cox? I guess not good enough calls.

I’m kinda indifferent deferent to the Fletcher Cox news. I guess I hope he comes back on a cheap deal, but he should go ring chase with the Chargers.

As for striking out on WR, I wonder if Van Jefferson is available for trade.

Landry, JuJu, and Crowder all still available I think.

I'm fine signing a slot and drafting Pickens

They had trade offers for him last year but Howie over valued Cox

Per Tim McManus they wanted a day 2 pick. I guess that means they were looking for a 3. I can't imagine they were ever looking for a 2 for him at his age, cost and level of production.

I have to disagree. Sweat still hasn't shown to be a dynamic rusher while Graham is 57 and coming off of a major injury.

Howie is such a Fing disaster, man. His cap management has absolutely killed this team. And now he's trying to worm his way out of all his contracts.

It's been admitted that they dug themselves in a cap and age hole trying to make additional runs at another SB and that they are now trying to dig themselves out of this hole. Is it worming your way out of something if you admit you did something, it didn't work and you need to correct the mistakes that were made?

A few things. If Cox is gone it's a loss, but he is far from the dominant player he was a few years ago. He is also not a great fit in the system.

DE is still a bigger need. BG is ancient and coming off a major injury so you have a short term solution at best and Sweat. Hargrave is a stud and will get a new deal, and Milton Williams looks really good. They are both needs but DE is clearly the weaker position.

If all things remain equal the idea of the Eagles NOT using all three first round picks seems more unlikely. They have so many holes to fill. If anything they should keep 15 and 16, and trade down from 19 to get an extra 2nd or 3rd.

His phone is probably blowing up from players around the league. I kind of hope he signs somewhere else and this blows up in Howies face. Maybe they can make a U-turn on that extension.

Baker requested a trade!

OK, this makes a ton more sense. Clearly OTC and Sportrac didn't have the latest details.

Just goes to show what I always say.  The cap websites and gurus in here never really know.

Yes.

Just expecting Graham to be back to form at 34 after a big surgery?

I’d actually put the chances of him re-signing with the Eagles very low.

There is actually plenty of options left at WR. There are the three high level slot guys you mentioned, and they could always take a shot on Julio or Green on a reasonable one year deal. Pascal and Pringle are both upgrades over the two busts and Greg Ward. With Robinson getting the contract he did they are obviously still waiting for the market to cool off and go bargain shopping. You'd have to think a draft pick at the position on day 1 or 2 is likely as well.

I wouldn't care one bit about losing him.

If you're putting Milton as a DE, I can guess I can see it.  I do think Cox wasn't an exact fit for what Gannon wants to do.  They are bringing Wyatt in for a visit:

You do realize it isn't 2018, right. Cox is a good but not great player at this point.

Kent Lee Platte on Twitter: "Milton Williams is a DE prospect in the 2021 draft class. He scored a 9.98 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 4 out of 1325

Had a nice year last year as a rotational guy. Don't know why you wouldn't like him, he has a lot of potential.

Cox is still good, but my guess is the Eagles went into this new deal thinking they'd either keep an elite Cox at a market rate or cut a declining Cox and try to negotiate a more reasonable deal. I think he ultimately goes elsewhere.

If this move, as reported, creates $16 million in cap space in 2022 and $15 million in dead money in 2023, then they're basically out of the contract scot-free because of rollover. I just don't see the incentive for the Eagles to re-sign Cox or for him to re-sign here.
