I just find it very hard to believe Howie and the Lurie who believe this is a offensive league dont pick some offensive players in the first two days. I get we need defense but its just not very realistic they do that.

WR in free agency will have more effect than a rookie.

I like it a lot.

I kind of feel like Pickett CANT fail when he has Smith, and Bell to throw to. Theyre almost carbon copies. Dominant route runners who will always be open for the young QB.

You still do pretty well for the D.

But it notably lacks DE. Id probably have rathered see one at 83 instead of doubling up at LB with Muma (I know hes good but at that point after snagging Loyd, its far more impactful for our D to grab a pass rusher)

As it stands, youll really have to hope we hit on S and DE in free agency. But if we did, then Im excited about that team.

I am really, and I mean REALLY hoping Gannon is history and they bring in a more creative DC like Fangio. Scheme can make it look a lot better for our defense. Also there were not much to pick from edge wise in that 3rd and Muma looked too solid to pass up over a reach. Also Leal is a nice pass rush option. We are running a 3-4 over right now and have some young rushers on the outside.Again a better creative scheme can open up the pass rush. Muma actually is a 3 down LB and can pass rush as well. Comes all down to a better scheme.

I do love Bell. I like route runners and he is just that with the size to go with it. He reminds me of this years Pittman. I dont care if he doesnt have top speed, have that in Smith and Watkins.

In a situation where we don’t take a QB I feel compelled to simulate a tradeback (why HOU wanted the UNC QB I do not know).

You really think Tyler Smith will last til the 5th?

He'd be a steal there, it's tough to come up with consensus as draft websites seem to be all over the board.

Plus there's always risers and fallers after combine be pro days.

Nah, I think he’s gone in the 3rd. Probably have to go with the small school guys - Braxton Jones, Cordell Voller.

My latest PFN mock:

15. Derek Stingley Jr. CB LSU

16. Traded to Cardinals for 23 and 55

19. Devin Lloyd LB Utah

23. Jaquan Brisker S Penn State

51. Perrion Winfrey DT Oklahoma

55. And 153 Traded to Bucs for 62 and 94

62. Myjai Sanders EDGE Cincinnati

83. Kyren Williams RB Notre Dame

94. Justyn Ross WR Clemson

121. Jeremy Ruckert TE Ohio State

161. Jalyn Armour-Davis CB Alabama

165. Tyreke Smith EDGE Ohio State

209. Jack Sanborn LB Wisconsin

Max Mitchell  my OT stud , who is not well known . Very good athlete , with some quick feet , nasty demeanor

Final mock of the day. More of the direction we get a WR in free agency(maybe not a star but a serviceable vet to play the outside) Also again, no trades for me in these mocks. To unrealistic to determine and what these trades are.

Again Pickett is a no brainer if available. We all know Howie like this guy. If they dont have to give up big resources to get him they will take that route. Gardner is the only CB I like in the mid first round so was a nice area for him. We all know the earlier picks so no reason to go into detail. later though I love Robinson and Cook in this draft. Both are completely different backs and I would take them both if I could but not realistic. Luketa is a LB you can move around and use as a pass rusher on 3rd downs. Should fit nice in a 3-4 over scheme. Mays is a monster and loves pushing people around. Nice add on in the G spot. Eric out of Texas tech is a nice size 6'3 220 pound WR with a decent route tree behind him and above avg hands. Speed is not top end but Im looking more for technic in my WRs over just pure speed.

Take your pick on either daft. Im done for now.

Wait till these 40 times come out these players are going to move all over the place

I went off track from the norm with this mock using Jeremiah's mock as more of a barometer with where players would be selected combined with new risers. So if Travon Walker was sitting there at 15 I avoided taking him. I went trade back heavy because I was not finding a ton of players I loved at their availability.

Probably most will hate this but I tried to be somewhat realistic, or at least what that seems to be at this point through the eyes of Jeremiah. I am expecting Kelce back, a good safety, an outside WR plus some sort of d-lineman in FA.

18. Kyler Gordon - CB Washington

25. Cameron Thomas - EDGE San Diego State

36. Christian Harris - LB Alabama

50. Darian Kinnard - OT Kentucky (slides into RG)

60. Jalen Wydermyer - TE Texas A&M

67. Boye Mafe - EDGE Minnesota

81. Darrian Beavers - LB Cincinnati

95. Yusuf Corker - S Kentucky

140. Josh Jobe - CB Alabama

153. Skyy Moore - WR Western Michigan

165. CJ Verdell - RB Oregon

2023 NO 2nd

2023 CIN 2nd

2023 DEN 3rd

I have decided Sanders and Drake Jackson are more like 2nd rounders for me, if we want to go the speed rusher route.

I am absolutely in love with the idea of drafting both Travon Walker, and Logan Haul. Both can play anywhere on the DL. Hall plays mostly from the 3tech position. Also some 1 tech, and also occasionally outside the tackle like a traditional DE. Both are strong. Walker can bend an OL in half backwards and shock him with a punch. Hall pushes them backwards and then seems to engulf them and overwhelm with his size.

The versatility of these guys along with Milton Williams will be a nightmare for DCs. They can play 3-4, or 4-3. Doesnt even matter who our DC is next year.

They will make the DL not just talented, but literally nasty. It can be a legitimately feared group like some old school tough defense with new school athleticism.

@greendestiny27

If Walter had given us Gordon in his mock from yesterday I would’ve much more pleased - he’s a longer, better athlete, who is really twitched up for zone coverage (so a better scheme fit here)… he’s likely going to move up during the combine shuffle. Jobe is another guy, who can come in and contribute quickly.

Harris is an obvious upgrade in most areas - good speed to the edge, knows what he’s doing in coverage.

I’ll need to look at Thomas, there are a  bunch of big DEs that I need to get a better sense of the order on (at the moment I’m fine with JJ in that range). Travon is an insane athlete, so behind Hutch he’s a no brainer if there IMO.

Interesting mix here given the self imposed limitations.

I personally think Cam Thomas is best suited for a 34 team

Espanosa, the Iowa kid who went to the Bills, was my quick take.

I really don’t like Pickett as a prospect and just don’t understand the fuss.

You like Carson Strong.

Having a tough time finding Hurts on here. Maybe if Covid hits the league they will make it down to the 6th alternative.

Well, neither Rodgers nor Brady would have any interest in playing in that game so you might still have a chance to see him there

I guess throwing hard is the same as running fast.

I want to see Strong move well and test well at the Combine, otherwise I’d have no interest.

I don’t see it either.  He’s Baker Mayfield, at best.

Baker went #1 - for this reason I don’t think about Pickett much, as he’ll be some other team’s gamble.

Pickett has had 35 fumbles in 6 years

I go Corral if I must draft a QB early…. Otherwise wait on Zappe  or Barriere mid rounds

The Frankenstein knee and the amount of RPO we show has me worried he’s too outside the box for Siri. He has other issues as well, but is this a project that Nick wants to take on now if Howie can pitch him life line in 2023?

RPOs are purely because of Hurts limitations as a passer. Steichen said this is the first time in his career he has really worked with them and building an offense out of them and even Sirianni wasn’t doing it with Rivers or other guys he’s been with. I don’t see it as a staple of "his offense”.

I love Corral.  Never followed up after their bowl to see how bad his knee injury was.
