But a big arm, nice athleticism, underwhelming production, only 6'...nah.

He's 1 for 3.  Need 2 out of 3 for me to pull the trigger in round 1.

They'll both go in round 1 (likely high) and nobody cares about my opinion, but I value both Willis and Pickett at the 2nd round level.

I think a team needs to fall in love with a QB to draft him high.  If they like him that much it will be a small price to pay to get a franchise QB for hopefully the next decade.

Scripted, in shorts, with nobody rushing him for real. Great throw, but how many times did he practice that? Doesn't tell me he knows how to read a defense, can handle that under real pressure in the elements, etc. It's impressive, but it was intended to be, which is why he practiced that probably the same way many players who are combine wonders practice the drills and such.

Josh Allen never cracked higher than 56% completion rate in college, but he had the arm, mobility, and size.

Willis is already more accurate than Allen, is more athletic, but does not have that prototypical size.

Let's compare Malik Willis to Trey Lance.  Lance is 2 years younger for his draft year, 1 year younger in absolute age.  Both are top-notch athletes with big arm talent from small conferences.  Lance reached heights as a passer in 2019 as a true sophomore that Willis never did.  He has also literally reached heights at 6'4" that Willis never will.  Lance went #3 overall.  I can't justify Malik Willis as a top 5 pick as well.

I'd waste a first on Willis. Why not? Have him sit behind Hurts/Minshew for a year and see what you got next year. 

Willis is going top 10. Atlanta or Carolina is my guess.

Hurts starting in front of him is just biding time. He needs to develop without getting thrown to the wolves right away. 

If you really like Willis, why not trade for Jordan Love at a fraction of the price?

You get your unproven great athlete with big arm talent.  This one is 6'4", watched Rodgers for 2 years, is only 1 year older, and can get thrown out there now.

Vick was 6'.  He did OK.  

What worries me most about Willis is that if I'm looking at the Liberty flames record, I don't see big wins against big schools.  Digging into their 31 - 16 loss to Army, looks like he had a bunch of yards but hardly any TDs.  He also ran the ball 16 times for 32 yards.  Hardly a dominant running performance.  Why?

There's very little to "put together".  Willis will be the most over-drafted player in the draft.

It's not that you can't do well at 6'...it's that you need to mitigate risk-factors when you are talking top 10 picks and marriages to QB's.  

6' is a risk factor.  Liberty is a risk factor.  Ordinary passing in college is a risk factor.  That's too much and makes him just a strong-armed athletic gamble.  I'll take that gamble later in the draft, not with an investment where he HAS to succeed because our franchise's future is tied to him.

Yeah, then when we watched the games he doesn't go through progressions... So what are we doing here. Can he improve? Yeah, I do like him as a prospect better than Hurts. But it's a big time projection. I'd rather add a few assets to next years draft and get the QB then. 

Digging into Willis' college games a bit more, the best team he played was Ole Miss who was ranked 16th at the time.  He threw 3 INTs and ran the ball  a whopping 27 (!!) times for 71 yards.  That's 2.6 yards per carry, folks.  His college resume is underwhelming to say the least.

Good points. I think I'm talking myself out of Willis.  Too many ?s to be a top-10 pick.  I'd absolutely take him in the 2nd round.

A guy with a cannon of an arm that doesnt even use it.
