The good news is that Siriani said we need to get better passing the ball.

With the praise he heaps on Hurts, that statement can be taken as criticism of the receiving options.

With that said, Smith is a homerun. Goedert is excellent. If they draft another 1st rounder, or make an impactful trade at some point, Hurts will be out of excuses and theyll be forced to face the truth and move on.

We will come to the end of the road with Hurts one way or another. By the end of this season at the latest. Sooner if we are lucky.

Hopefully but there's the real scenario where he's the same guy with a small improvement. Lurie is delusional at this point about the state of the franchise which really hasn't been competitive with top tiers teams for over a decade outside of the magical season

This is why I'm fine either way. Get a legitimate #2 WR and we can fully evaluate Hurts without any question marks at the end of the season. Either he cuts it or he doesn't.

Players still need to develop. Putting them in a bad situation for a year isn't optimal.  You'd be either hurting that guy or hurting DeVonta or both. There just aren't enough good passes to go around right now.

If you can get a guy who you think will be special then get him even if your QB is not good.  They won't go several years with a bad QB.  If Jalen doesn't improve significantly as a passer in 2022 they will be moving on.

Keep in mind the honest NFL twitter made the WRs aside from Smith sound like a group of doofuses that had no idea what they were doing last year. This was the selling point on Paschal- to act as a player coach for the group. Because apparently they didnt get adequate coaching from our actual coaching stafff.

Smith was well polished coming in to the NFL. Reagor, Watkins, JJAW, not polished at all.

In the draft its probably best to focus on the WRs with good polish on their game. Maybe not Watson. Maybe not even Wilson or Williams. But yes to Olave, Metchie, and Pickens. These are guys who have run the full route tree, and run them well, and big time programs.

His length paired with his instincts and football speed make up for a lot.

He's 6'4" if he was 5'10" and ran a 4.7 and looked slow on tape id be worried.

Kam chancellor ran a 4.7 and was a pro bowler and intricate I'd argue most valuable part of the legion of boom.

Kyle Hamilton can be that type of player and showed more on tape than chancellor did in college.

Kam was a SS backed by a FS with speed and CB level coverage skills.  Neither did as well without the other.

It’s a great rule. A team shouldn’t lose key secondary executives during their most important time of the year for their job description. It would be like losing your offensive coordinator to another team in week 12.

I understand the loss.Does the NFL limit what teams can put in their contracts with scouts and executives? Can they?

Per Brugler: The Eagles met with Jordan Davis at the combine and at his pro day, and they will bring him to Philadelphia for a 30 visit.

Thats a lot of interest…

Yup, we finally got a Bona Fide #1 in Smitty, need to get a #2 WR across from him.

Don't let Hurts get in the way of what is best long-term.

I think they already did bring him in

He's very much in play for us IMO.

Davis was supposedly already in Philly last week.

It might have been from an old story that I lifted that blurb.

Would be a great get if they can land him in the draft.

Last I checked Jeff Lurie has drafted one franchise QB in the entire time he's owned the team.  I'm not sure why people are so convinced they'll just nail it in one try if they wait until next year

Yeah, but how many has he tried to draft?   We heard earlier from him he was only in on Lane Johnson, Russell Wilson and Jordan Mailata.  JJAW was all Howie.  So, maybe Jeffie is 1 for 1.  He should draft more QBs more often.  Dude must be a savant.

I'm not interested in outbidding teams for overpriced QBs when our defense is desperately needing to be overhauled. If we pick up Ridder or Strong later I wouldn't be upset but I'm not wanting to waste assets to move up for any of the QBs that are now likely to go in the Top 10.

I was watching Chris Simms' breakdown of QBs, man he was not kind to Ridder or Strong.

Ridder

- Worst feet among all QBs.

- Can't make short throws well.

- Terrible throwing motion.

- Can't make tight window throws.

- His big time throws were with WRs wide open.

Strong

- Alarmingly Unathletic.

- Arm is not as good as advertised.

- Strong thinks his arm is better than it actually is, leading to throws that shouldn't be made.

- Bad throwing mechanics.

I'm interested in them getting QB right. If they don't believe in any of the guys then it is what it is.  I wouldn't spend 2 1's on any QB in this draft. But I'm not pretending to be a draft expert. I watch YouTube highlights mostly.  If they wait until next year they'll likely have to trade multiple 1's to get the 3rd or 4th best guy. Maybe that's still a better path. Who knows?

According to him, Strong plays like he has an arm like Allen or Mahomes, he doesn't.

His overconfidence leads to bad throws that shouldn't be thrown.

I’m holding firm on my belief Kenny Pickett does not go top 10.

I saw another scout that really like Strong and said if it weren't for knee issues he'd be his top ranked guy. Beauty in eye of beholder

Ah. Read that as Simms called his arm not as good as advertised but Simms thinks it’s better than it actually is.

Strong's stock has never really recovered from Senior Bowl week. He was suppose to be the elite arm talent prospect, he was anything but during that week.
