That’s going to be the exact complaint when team 1 starts winning consistently in overtime.

I know.  It is sarcasm, and yet, it will be the exact complaint that comes out of this.

But that's not fair.  The team that gets the ball first has an advantage because they'd get the ball twice and the other team only got it once.  I think they should both be guaranteed 2 possessions.  Of course, the first team still has an advantage with 3 possessions to 2 if tied after two possessions.  This problem just can't be fixed.

Devolve it to what college football, soccer, and baseball do...    two-point conversions like extra innings.

I also do not think that they should do a new coin toss in OT,  should be based on the start of game coin toss.  You take the ball first, you get the ball first to start OT.  You would see a lot less teams defer if that was the case.

Now THIS is a solution I could get behind.  The rest... not so much.  Defense matters.   If your defense can't stop the opponent, that's on your defense.   And more importantly, it would change how teams play the very end of regulation based on knowing they were going to get the ball... or not.    No need to extend the game artificially though.

Just a matter of time.

The most Howie move ever is to trade down from 19 for a pick in next year's draft and use the resulting late 1 or early 2 from this year's draft to take a shot at a QB and make him compete with Hurts.  Not saying I'm suggesting that but that's a definite Howie move

Really don’t want that to happen.

Don’t usually agree with you but that wouldn’t even surprise me.

They’ll just say: Competition is a main pillar for Siriani..

Same can be said for most defenses, they should compliment each other.

Not really, anymore.  Now the preference is players that can switch.  Need FS skills or the result is like with Harris.  Could instincts with pedestrian speed results in the high S playing twenty yards off the LOS and in a back pedal at the snap.  And Harris has FS background.   Epps, a 4.53 FS that is best playing downhill.  In comparison, Mayden around 4.4, Chachere around 4.49, and Vincent 4.33 (pro day).  A FS doesn’t have to run like Vincent but it helps.  The angles the FS takes and the flip and cover on a deep WR are impacted significantly by speed.  Having a slower SS limits the defense.  My preference is two Ss with FS skills.

He was great here.

Got to admit I was all for extending him but in hindsight we exactly had him for his best years.

So why don't they bring in another bunch of coaches to compete with the existing staff each season?

Good. Go away. His moral superiority shtick was so annoying.

He was a neighbor of mine when he was here and he was a good neighbor. He was friendly, conversational, and obviously devoted to his family. I never pressed him about his public speaking but someone else did and he said he had been gifted with a public voice and felt responsible to use it as best he could.  I would run into him at Cafe La Maude in Northern Liberties quite often. There were and are a number of other athletes who would go there with their families or girlfriends. That included Connor Barwin, usually in the company of Jason Kelce, Bernard Hopkins, A. J. Feeley with his wife Heather and their kids, and so on. Every one of them was good company.

I understand that you don't care for his political views but that does not translate to moral superiority.

Gonna check out Wrestlemania this weekend.  Haven't watched a wrestling ppv in probably 20 years.

Being that it's in Jerry World, maybe he will be involved in the program somehow and he gets powerbombed thru a table or something.   That would be awesome.

So you are contributing to Jerry Jones wealth this weekend. Makes you feel good?

I think, although I may be wrong, that there was thought process in spreading his dead cost and avoiding a guaranteed bonus.  I think that only worked with resigning him.

They cut him to avoid a guaranteed $18mm roster bonus, and designated it post June 1 to spread the hit (IIRC). But the new contract can't impact the cap costs from the old one -- completely separate. You can only do that with an extension, not a cut and re-sign.

Any thoughts on QB Tyler Van Dyke from Miami (2023)?

Dink and dunk ??? Was Donovan McNabb a dink and dunk QB.

Brady's 1st full season as a starter ( 2001 ), 12th in AYA, McNabb was 10th.  6.4 vs 6.5

Brady's 2nd full season as a starter, 21st in AYA, McNabb was 15th, 6.1 vs 6.5

Brady's 3rd full season as a starter, 8th in AYA, McNabb was 12th, 6.7 vs 6.4

Don't you hate posting nonsense knowing that google has the answers ???

Sadly, still relevant:

I wonder if this loophole they found will eventually get closed. They basically had a guy who was already maxed out of restructures, cut him post June 1st and then probably tacked on void years to the new deal to essentially restructure him.

I saw an article that suggested this started with last year’s restructure and with the cut and the resigning give the Eagles (and Cox) flexibility, such as in a trade, that just wasn’t there last year.  I think you hit the high points.  I think Cox probably prefers to stick with the Eagles at this point but is probably attracted to the potential short term out to a contender in season.

Such a moronic take.  Yeah he's such a jerk with the scholarships he funds and his volunteer time.  How dare he care about social issues and spend his time and money to address problems he's concerned about.  What an a-hole.  He's the best player the Eagles had in the secondary for a decade.

Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia and not so nice anymore. My wife and I moved out about a year and a half ago. Overcrowded. Lots of young people with filthy habits. No parking.

We lived on 4th Street. Kyle Lowry's niece lives a few houses up. Malcolm Jenkins and family lived on American in one of the new houses.

Maybe the defense should play with only 10 players on the first possession, only 9 after the first, and so on... until there's just 1 guy out there trying to stop the offense.

You know it's almost as if they could just put a time limit on a period of play and whoever is the winner at the end of the period of play wins the game.

I think it avoided the $18 million guarantee but the transaction takes up an additional $12 million in cap space this season.  It's still $6million less than the guarantee but not a savings vs. cutting him. He can be released next year as a post 6/1 designation with no dead cap.

Then they need to put their money where their mouths are and add some defensive players, real ones that would make those  guys proud. Enough cheap skating at LB and S and number 2 CB

I have a friend that opened a restaurant in Northern Liberties recently. I hope it hasn't changed too  much.
