This morning I got flipped off by a driver who was passing me going the opposite direction presumably because she thought I got over too late after passing the guy in my lane.

I didn’t track her down and punch her in the face.

The low salary is helping Howie dig us out of salary cap hell.

I am no capologist.

I don't know how many cap hits remain in our near future.

But I think the cut and resign maneuver with Cox was aimed at unscrewing the cap.

Best I can tell from reading, Cox release saved 16 million in cap dollars for 2022 ( which will apply June 1st ) and leaves 10 million dead.  As a post June 1 release, will also carry 15 million dead next year.

Adding the 10 million dead to his new contract, he counts 14 million against the cap this year, and will probably be a post June 1 release in 2023.  That will add 2.5 to the already dead 15 million for 2023, and leave 7.5 million dead in 2024.

Basically it saved the 18 million roster bonus for this year.  Not really sure the overall savings over the life of his original contract, but it is not significant.

Passing QBs aren't being trained up as much at the lower levels... and NFL teams don't take the time to develop their young QBs.  They settle for the short term gain of a running QB, rather than look at the long term affects a passing QB can make.

Take it a step further - what’s a college coach’s primary goal?

to win games

for these guys, it is all about the short term,  not developing QBs for the NFL.

They recruit running QBs out of HS because they think they can win games with them. they may work on his passing but aren’t bringing those guys in so they can break them down and turn them into legit NFL passing QBs

It is very rare for someone to have really high levels of success over years doing something (anything in life) one way and be willing and able to abandon what it is that brought you that success.

running QBs are running QB’s because that’s how they have found success in the past.  Most of them simply don’t have high levels of passing skills, because if they did, we would have already seen it

Mac Jones went to the same Alabama school as Jalen Hurts, he looks like he was plenty developed as a passer.

Embiid looking at some of these fools questioning his game.  Feels good to have the best player in basketball playing in Philly.  Enjoy it

That's pretty amazing.  I'm shocked.  Glad to hear!

I didn’t say these guys can’t develop or that coaches don’t develop QBs.

I'm still holding out hope for a real NFL-XFL collaboration where NFL players #54-90 are optioned to the developmental league (that's a pool of nearly 1200 players for say 8 teams).  Obvious implications for QBs, but the referee crews need to become full-timers as well - then again the NFL does the bare minimum to improve its product, so the outlook isn't so good.

So a new rookie QB every 4 or 5 years. Once a QB wants a big $$ extension - and doesn't have well above average passing skills - cut him and draft his replacement.

Pretty much. Until you find  the guy you keeping searching for him

I was going to... even going back to HS, but didn't want to be too long winded.

There was a discussion about him not being in the paint more.  Considering how the refs were allowing the Raptors to hack him at will last night, I don't know how you complain about his game last night.

Just ask @HazletonEagle, he is an expert in this area.

For the lawyers out there:

I recently defended a colleague in an administrative hearing conducted by my university. The university hired a "judge' to oversee the proceedings and to render a final judgement. I later found out through FOMA requests that our diversity officer (read prosecutor) used to work in the same law office as the "judge" and that they are still friends. Part of my defense strategy was to seek a summary dismissal because the diversity officer had exhibited bias against my colleague in violation of Title IX. I tried to outline the evidence of bias in my opening statement, but I was cut off by the "judge" before I could finish. I was not offended during the course of the hearing  the opportunity to present the evidence of bias. At no time did the diversity officer or the judge disclose to us their prior relationship.

Is this a violation of legal ethics?

Thanks.

Randall was the master of sand lot football, though he also had a cannon for an arm, even then didnt amount to any championships still doesn't.

Luck, had he not broken his leg, might have won one with an all time great defense in 1991.

Team went 9-6 with McMahon, Kemp and Goebel at QB. Joseph/Sherman at RB, Byars RB, Barnett WR, Jackson TE.

OL:  Heller - McKnight - Alexander - Solt - A Davis

Especially in that one game where he went 2/3 for 19 yards.
